Doesn't a dwelling need to have electricity and running water before it can qualify as a city?

It's About Time: H'wood Execs Fed Up With "Petulant Brat" Movie Stars
Frenchy68 replied to a topic in Speakers Corner
Well, one could argue that actors such as Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Robert de Niro, Tom Hanks et al are not your typical GQ material cover material. They may be hansome, charismatic, etc... But they are no Di Caprio or Cruise as far as "typical" good looks are concerned. We just grow to love them through the characters they play, because of how they come across. As much as I like to denigrate actors, the huge majority work hard to get where they are. The myth of the kid with the good looks being cast for a blockbuster movie while minding his/her own business on a sidewalk is the exception rather than the rule. More often than not, the looks are more important to the studios marketing department than it is to the producers. All know that bad acting will kill a good script. Good acting may save an average script. Add directing, lighting, and editing to the equation, and the look becomes more often than not irrelevant. Except for the PR department. Makes for beautiful smileys in the press. Didn't you get flowered for that? I have no recollection of such event. Please refer all other inquiries to my lawyer.

I thought he was credible in Born on the 4th of July. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -
A direct pm to him will generally accomplish wonders, and may get you a brand new, delightful and sophisticated avatar. I highly recomend it.

Another big issue studio execs have with Cruise: he contractually demands to have approval rights on any product placement and tie in promo involving a feature in which he stars. Nowadays, product placement and tie-ins represent a huge chink of income for studios (while costing them nothing). DHL got in on MI3. Several others didn't, strictly on Cruise's refusal (or, in one case, his inability to sign a contract on time, which caused a huge national promo to be canceled at the cost of the advertiser). Execs were not too happy. It's about the bottom line... Incorrect. In the US, the "Focus Puller" is also called a 1st AC (assistant cameraman). He "builds the camera" and gets it ready to roll. If it is going to take 3 hours to get the lighting done in the morning, he will get a later call. I've worked on both and this is an incorrect statement as well. Studio movies tend to be much bigger than independent productions, and will have much more equipment. While the camera is rolling, regardless of the budget, every one in the main unit stops working (except for the camera operator, 1st AC, dolly/crane grip, 1st AD, Director, actors...). That's at most 4 minutes on 400ft rolls, about 8 minutes with a 1000ft mag. But when there is a change of set up, you'll see 50 people working. More so on the East coast. Not on the West coast ("Hollywood"). That's the top 5% of the crew. And if it's for only 2 or 3 hour work, chances are they work only a couple of days on the production. And are not guaranteed another job. ...and the director, 1st AD, 2nd AD, UPM, Producers, and some DPs. -

I'm curious to find out how you back up this statement. Based on what? "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -
Same with former US Marines driving vans nearby Federal building? If you're referring to Timothy McVeigh & Terry Nichols, they were ex-Army. I stand corrected. Former Marines, you are allowed back into your vans (just stay away from Feds buildings, though)! Loooooooong snivel followed by hard opening (!) followed in turn by spinning canopy with both toggles still stowed. Hard deck. Not sure what was wrong with Mr canopy, but it was time to part company.

Do you jump with an AAD? (turned on)
Frenchy68 replied to Mr17Hz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't know for sure, but it seems that at DZ where I jump, CRW, H&P and solos represent a minorities of the jumps performed. Are you planning on not doing RW and/or RW, or do you plan on turning it on and off accordingly? Better be starting saving your ass while still having enough altitude to do so. Although a Newbie myself, I am inexperienced. AADs have saved people with hundreds, maybe thousands of jumps, and little attitude. It has also killed people with much experience and little attitude. Yes, being device dependent is dangerous. Not being dependent and having it may help. May not. It's a personal choice, not a rule. Adn either way you go, you may be proven right, you may be proven wrong. Right is better though, me think... -
I'd go with dark on the outside, red on the inside. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."

yes, when the difference in altitude exceeds Cypres adjustment boundaries... Otherwise I usually do the adjustment. Have you found yourself beeing more concerned whether it's on or not since your two way FF with your PC? When I'm a Greenie, I will make this post a stickie (figures...) on the front page of this fine website. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return."

I jump with an AAD. I have only 6 jumps without one, including one that resulted in a cutaway/reserve ride. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -

Emergency Passport renewal - anyone know anything
Frenchy68 replied to EricaH's topic in The Bonfire
Get some authority in Poland to fax a certificate (or some kind of semi officially recognized document) to the Polish consulate in Chicago (nearest major city, right?). Have a consular official certify it. Have your BF retrieve it, and go to the local Federal building. Make sure he doesn't have a cell phone on him when getting to the Federal building (at least one that can take pictures...). It will involve a lot of begging and convincing, but it should work. Good luck. "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -
