    It is not my intention to offend anyone, and if I did, I apologize. I do understand that in this particular incident, the victims had no control over their tragic fate. I was merely refering to the fact that although we do have to defend our sport from unfair attacks, we also have to address the enemy within which has taken way too many lives lately. Once again, my apologies to those who were offended by my posts.     Well, I don't think the legal system encourages people to sue. It gives them the opportunity to do so. Although i find the amount of lawsuits a bad joke gone wrong in the US, it does serve a purpose. We'd be surprised how many business owners do take extra safety measures nowaday not only to increase safety, but to cover themselves against potential lawsuits (I'm not necessarily talking about skydiving here). There are abuses of the system as it is. If one couldn't sue, there would be abuses the other way. I think overall, though, the US legal system is not that bad.     I don't know about realizing, but truly inderstanding, I'd say pretty much no one. The only people I can think of who truly understand the consequences of things going wrong are either a/ dead b/ eating out of tubes and pissing into a bag But we still go right back up and jump nontheless...

    Yep, GTA and I, the two of us do... I don't know where you got this from, but whatever flips your skirt. I just think that if you really believe that "anytime someone draws negative attention to skydivers it IS an attack on skydiving", then you should take your soap box to the DZ and start preaching to the locals. WE, as skydivers, do a lot to draw negative attention to the sport. More so than a politician can do. I would personally dismiss what politicians say in this case as being pure demagogy.     Then instead of worrying about what a politician may do to draw attention to the sport, skydivers would be better inspired to see what THEY can do to stop cratering themselves like a meteor shower, which is definitely drawing a lot of attention lately.     Don't make fun. I've helped many Nigerian widows in need, and am the living proof that they are honest people. Last I checked, there were several millions sitting on my bank account, waiting for me to decide what to do with them.     If that is your observation then what is your conclusion? They're both the same. But what solution do I have to the problem? I don't have a solution. As I stated, I'd rather see the Feds kept out of skydiving. Should they be involved, there would be a lot, lot more restrictions. Possibly less deaths and injuries as well. Self-policing and having fun don't always walk hands in hands.     Uh? We're terrible at self-policing! I'd hate to see the Feds involved, but we are fooling ourselves into thinking that we are doing a good job "self-policing" the sport.     If indeed you had no chance of making it back to the LZ while still at 4,000ft, I would have a major issue with the spots given to FJC students... You mentioned there were more students on your load, and they must have jumped after you since you were hearing directions being given to them while you were close to final. Did they all land out?
