    I just do not see what China would get out of it. Chinese and Russians have never had much affinity for each other in the passed. The Chinese regime is currently trying to open up economically and somewhat politically, while trying to ensure that it is done under control. I have little doubt that China will develop its own form of capitalistic democracy (once again, in a typically Chinese form) in the quite near future. The current Russian regime seems to be heading the opposit way, trying to become more and more authoritarian, while also dealing with a parallel society (underworld). I do not know much about Russia, so I may be wrong, but I do spend quite a bit of time in China and am amazed at how faast things are moving there.
