Icarus Canopies after-sale service - be carefully

we don't have the wingloading, but according to the video it is a 149. I can't buy him his canopy because I would need a larger container scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -

I think you are confusing Vectran and Dacron. Dacron is "springy". Vectran is less "springy" than Spectra, lasts a bit less, but doesn't shrink or elongate (which Spectra does, and gets your canopy out of trim pretty quick). With Vectran you need a slow opening canopy as it would make the opening shock more direct on the jumper. Spectra is a slightly more permissive in that sense. Dacron is the most permissive (they still didn't invent bungee lines) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -
and certainly better too ;-) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

did you see John LeBlanc's video about lines ? There is a reason why I like Vectran. Spectra is good for my reserves -

apparetly the Federal Office for Statistics did give some figures : Numers are decreasing.. in 1998 we had 466 deceased by firearm, against 259 in 2008. This is all fatalities (accidents, murders and suicides), and all firearms (military, private, hunting, leagal and illegal). scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

gonna look that thanks. Plus the electronic firing is great. We actually need it for some wingsuiting. Great thing it's in england, might be easier to get through to Switz. We will need to do some testing before and keep time to find alternatives if not suitable.... The definitive jumping is in September, but time is running already.... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Swiss tradition for the military arms apparently dates from 1874 or there around. It is a sign of confidence and trust from the State towards the citizen-soldiers. The "suicide with a military weapon" phenomenon would be more of a pretty recent thing. Pretty difficult to find correct information, as many are made-up statistics. Even the so called 18 cases of 2009 are difficult to believe, as with the trash newspapers we have (reporting almost every roadkill, car scratch etc...) we would know it if there was more than a monthly suicide by military weapon. I do nevertheless support and believe that the individuals who do not wish to keep their weapon at home should be able to store it at their local arsenal. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Why do whuffos walk on skydiving gear?
piisfish replied to JohnRich's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
-because they can !!! -because there is no such thing as perfect skydiving gear !!! -because the door was open !!! -because it takes more balls to step on other peoples stuff !!! -because they know why birds sing.. they don't have to pack !! Congrats to Margaret. She is one of my rigging heroes/models. Got the chance to see her at work, and WAWE, she can do awesome stuff with her hands. Ok I didn't get to see many riggers at work, but she does work with incredible precision, and she looks better than any old bearded rigger (no disrespect for old bearded riggers, I hope I will become one) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

New Packing Weights ~ Alternate filler material?
piisfish replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
depending on how much you need, you can use old pressed lead seals... I have around 2 pounds that my co-rigger has kept over the years. also you can check the weights they use for scuba ( not the "hard" ones, they also use now lots of weight pockets which are pretty similar to packing weights. You just need to add the fancy color. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -
there are much more crimes and suicides with blades of various sorts. Should we vote about giving back our pocket knives and combat knives ?? And my officer dagger ? www.army-discount.com/Images/Coutellerie/Dague/Dague_Mod43.html scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Lots of new stuff om the VASST channel, Good to see Wayne and Margaret again, good to finally see Erdnarob, great interviews (didn't have time to see everything yet), but it is a good support for us who can't do the trip to the PIA. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

here's a map you were almost right, take out ticino, include zurich.. also take out Valais and include BAsel-Town... Us Valaisans are hunters, more right wing and extremo-catholics. Them City-people need more regulations, because they can't self-regulate themselves. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
