Hmm... I'd move out of my current apartment and into a nicer one... buy a motorcycle.... graduate from college.... Move near the ocean.... buy a gorgeous house... *hope for a decent job*.... save some ..... hire a full time cook to prepare *healthy* food.... ENJOY the rest in the air.... Oh and of course spend some traveling all over the United States ......

I guarantee you Texas is stealing all the rain... blah the weather here has been horrible the past week and a half or so... Plenty warm, mind you... just rainy as well... Edited to add a brief geography lesson: Texas is one of the 50 United States of America.... Located north of the equator and south of the north pole... the only reason we have not floated off into the Gulf of Mexico or *gasps* into the... Atlantic Ocean, is because Oklahoma really really sucks...

Thank you all for the advice... I think carrying it in a bag will probably be my best bet. However, not placing my rig in a bag makes my gear much more identifiable to someone who has minimum knowledge concerning skydiving rigs (... more likely recognizable). If I were to put it in a bag and run it through the x-ray, all the security people will see is a weird looking device (that they probably won't recognize) in a bag- thus raising suspicion... I see the good and the bad of both... but being 'as inconspicuous as possible' will (as far as I can reason) be the best way to go... Thanks for the advice

Heh, I started jumping less than a month after I turned 18... I recommend you wait... and save money for crying out LOUD- SAVE IT! Hold on to it and run... and then when you're 18 go jump your butt off... They aren't kidding when they say 'it looks like you've already committed yourself to a life of poverty'... Good luck with the parents, don't fight em.. and good luck with your first jump (whenever it so happens to be )

YES (before everyone starts yelling!) I searched and found a thread on traveling with your rig (so this is just half way a repost)... Just a few more questions though ... Should I wear my rig when going through the airport/security or should I carry it in a bag? Does it cause more problems if I wear it instead of carry it in a bag? From flyingarab's post, I plan on taking with me my USPA card, my cypres card, the TSA letter about parachutes, and my log book... anything else? I'm leaving from Houston Intercontinental Airport a week from this Monday to go to Hawaii... Anyone traveled through that particular airport? If so, what problems did you encounter? And while I'm posting... anyone jumped in hawaii? I'll be in Honolulu and on the Big Island... *Sorry about the half way repost... *

Sounds goofy... but rollerblading is a lot of fun... I typically try to run or rollerblade a few times a week, minimum total of 30 minutes, sometimes longer.... Too much of one or the other bores me... so I mix em up... just my 2 cents...
