  1. A friend of mine worked with a company for a few days and then quit. Her full time job (and this comes from her mouth) is taking care of her husband, keeping the house clean and pampering her dog (that's right ladies and gents, she's a stay at home WIFE (no children) - I think I'd lose my mind). Anyways... they mailed her her first, last and only pay check in the amount of $6,500. I think she worked there a total of 6 days... she was shocked. She didn't keep the check, she didn't even think about it. She called em up and handed it right back over to them.
  2. This evening, I went to the Houston Symphony Pops performance of Andrew Lloyd Weber's most famous arrangements. It was spectacular!! The symphony was accompanied by three unbelievably talented vocalists. They finished the performance with "The Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera (yeah I probably did that wrong, whatever). I'd go see it all over again, if I could... I'm a huge huge huge fan of orchestral performances. I'm also a big fan of Cirque de soleil - all of the shows I have seen were AMAZING. Yellowcard, Dave Mathews Band, Third Eye Blind - also great live... These days nothing (and I mean nothing) makes me quite as excited/happy as a live performance... sad? Probably so... Anyone else feel the same? Any recommendations?
  3. My mouth tends to disagree. It's on fire.
  4. I JUST finished cooking some red beans and rice and I made it a bit too spicy. It's really hella healthy and full of flavor - just a tad bit too spicy. You're welcome to have some - I made a TON.
  5. Probably not from an accredited university... but you can get around that crap. www.pickaprof.com is a site that will let users (fellow students) rate and review professors and will supply grade distributions by class and professor ... this is AKA tracking down the easy A profs. Very useful for avoiding 20 page comparative research papers comparing state tax law/policy - which believe it or not I had to fing write.
  6. I'm not into whatever the hell you are talking about - but I think your avatar is AWESOME!

    Worldly IQ

That's a pretty cool little game.
  8. I don't know, but I wouldn't be standing up there trying to catch it...
  9. I followed - I thought it was funny... I'm just a bad poster... No organizational skills... Doesn't anyone else think that maturity has more to do with this than gender? You could counter with: Well, yeah but I bet lots of people in their 40's and 50's cheat. So then I think, maybe marriage makes us feel trapped and instead of a) working on improving the relationship or b) getting out of the relationship (aka divorce) people choose option c) and they CHEAT. ... It's gonna take a long time for me to decide to get married, that's for sure...
  10. I'm with you. However... I have never cheated and don't really ever think I will cheat, but I've clearly thought about it.
  11. You're kidding me, right? ad infinitum They were organic grapes, right?
  12. So, have any of you traveled outside the US to volunteer/teach? If so, what organization did you go with? What was your experience like? Etc. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  13. At first the accents bothered me, and It took me a few minutes to adjust to Tom Hank's character. I think the accents were consistent, at the very least. Still though, GREAT movie.
  14. Without sending this off to speaker's corner or giving away the ending... I just want to recommend this movie to everyone. Go see it! It is hands down one of the best (if not THE best of it's category) movies I've ever seen.
  15. Congrats to all the newly engaged!! And on a side note: I'm watching my friends drop like flies... I know at least a dozen 19-22 year olds who have gotten engaged/married in the past few months. I wish them all the happiness in the world, but I just don't see the rush... About a year ago, I *thought* that was what I wanted. I was wrong. Very wrong. I am, by no means, ready to make that kind of a promise to another person. Mind you, I'm only 22 - so this might not be relevant to those who recently announced their engagement on dz.com. But I can't help but think many of my friends are going to experience too many heart aches and too much stress (ya know, more than a "normal" marriage) fighting to make these young marriages work. I wish them all the happiness in the world, I just don't understand the rush to make that kind of a decision so young.
  16. I second that. ... but maybe not in that order.
  17. I don't think I'll ever take up skydiving as a sport, again. I won't stay current, I won't keep active in the sport - so, I think I'd rather take a one time dive as a tandem passenger... probably years from now... just to remember what it's like.
  18. QuoteHow long has it been? A few years. Why has it been so long?Money When will you jump again?I highly doubt I will jump again - maybe tandem. How long will you keep posting? As long as you guys let me or until I get bored - this place is pretty entertaining.Quote
  19. While I do not consider myself a PW, here are a few of my observations: Have an opinion about EVERYTHING. Be a professional advice giver. (oh the irony) Claim to know the most about EVERYTHING and share your infinite wisdom with us. Flirt, show your boobs, act slutty, crave the attention. Everytime you have to make ANY decision, you must poll bonfire. MAKE SHIT UP.
  20. When all I want to do is make bad decicions... Anyone with me? I'd really love to rant and rave about a few things.... but I won't. Someone bitch about their life to me, please - I want to feel better. UGH!!!
  21. am I mistaken, or has that book been out for years and years and years? It seems it's just now getting attention because it's in Oprah's book club? I loved it - when I read it about 8 years ago...
  22. Eh - you miiight like John Mayer's stuff... Dreaming With a BrokeN heart, Daughters, Waiting on the World to Change, No Such Thing Dave Mathews Band always has cool stuff... Where Are You Going? And my all time fav - Dancing Nancies Counting Crows - She talks to Angels, Mr. Jones, Accidentally in Love Jack Johnson - Dreams Be Dreams, Breakdown, Bubbly Toes Jason Mraz is fantastic - he does a great rendition of Summer Breeze, You and I Both, Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness (you might not like this, but give it a try ;-)) Robbie Williams - Angels, Feel I hope that gets you started .... I'm more of a loud, annoying, upbeat kinda music person: The Starting Line, Saliva, Cauterize, System of A Down, The White Stripes, etc. Merry Christmas!
