  1. Hi, yeah absolutely. Any amount of tunnel time can only help although don't go mad. The jumping is expensive enough without blowing it all on tunnel time. I'd say get between 10 mins and 30 mins to get you going so you can learn some basic stuff. Repeating a level is much more expensive than 10x more freefall time in a tunnel.

Sorry if this is repost but needs to be shown for those that haven't seen it. Unbelievable! If you've seen the old film 'youngblood' that isn't a patch on this.... http://www.funny-videos.co.uk/videocanadavussr.html
  3. Hahahha, what the hell is one of those! I think a little bit of wee come out when I read that
  4. I was listening to the latest Skydive Radio and an interview with Tanya O'Brien. Got me scratching my head. What is going on with skysurfing? Why is there such a lack of participants. I think it looks like an awesome discipline if a tad lonely sometimes. I think the last UK competition only had one team turn up and according to SDR so did the one at Eloy. Seems sad. I don't want it to fizzle out. Anyone here skysurf or stopped for any reason? What about new entrants to skydiving, any intention of skysurfing. I know I'd like to try and explore it. Its something different and fun, seems extremely challenging too. I don't know if I'm ranting/asking a question or what!? Just curious as to which way you think its going and why.
  5. Quotethank you for your time.. i apologise if somehow my comments offend anybody.. Quote You've definately been here before haven't you!
  6. Not being a US jumper I wouldn't know but If you really struggle you could go and learn some excellent skills in a wind tunnel. You'd learn kick ass freefall skills which would be an excellent foundation for when you do make your first jump. Just a thought
  7. People managed to organise their lives just fine before we had mobile phones, being in contact with someone at any moment has its benefits and I can see why a parent might like the idea. However, the most important point is... ITS FUCKING ANNOYING! Young kids on mobile phones frying their brains worries me a little. The internet, mobile phones and other items ruin peoples ability to interact normally in my opinion. I'm sort of guilty for it too. I can chat to my mates on MSN or via text where I may have gone round their house to talk bollocks and catch up instead. Plus, I use my phone while I'm working and alot of the other guys do too. Do you realise how much time must be lost to industry and education by distraction of mobile phones or I don't know.... say people going on online forums fromwork computers
  8. Children do not need phones. They are not in a position where it is important they can be contactable. Urgent messages, such as bad news if there has been an accident can be relayed via the school. Whats wrong with just organising your day before sending the kids off. Like for example "don't forget we are going shopping after school, I will pick you up so don't catch the bus". If your child is that thick to forget in the duration of 6 or 7 hours at school then thats their problem. I love the idea of that frequency selective wallpaper. I would buy that and line my house with it!
  9. Yeah, I didn't say buy locally though. Im all for supporting British trade but not when it comes to skydiving. I actually only have new container, that was my treat, the rest I have sourced or will continue to source second hand.
  10. How do you like the finish on your camera hardware such as brackets, mounts etc ? Got project underway, initially to manufacture some quick release still camera mounts, enquiring as to what finish rest of you would find aesthetically pleasing?
  11. For the record, I support our ill equipped guys and girls out there fighting regardless of the ethics behind it. I have friends out there and respect the kids younger than me putting their ass on the line. Just I find propoganda a bit tiresome. In fact, I find most media reports to be tiresome. Nothing against the war or whats going on out there, just how everything is skewed for the sake of a good story.
  12. I don't like stuff like this. It's propoganda, we are supposed to see how homane are troops are when they are also out there fighting. Funny how we never saw photos of insurgents playing with kittens or children We only ever see photos of them burning flags, dragging airmen through streets etc

    Doggie love

I so thought this thread was going to be something else [dissapointed]
  14. Nah its alright, when I know your close I'll just call in saying there's an armed robbery 10 miles down the road. They won't even know your coming! If you gonna get caught, might as well do it in style. Have a few beers as the journey will be long on a Dennis the Menace scooter. Maybe you could rig up some panniers or wear a rucksack with the bag to the front full of beers Also don't wear a helmet and ride the bike naked. Yee haa!
  15. What the fuck are you upt Andy> I've seen heroin addicts taking less extreme measures to get their next fix. You crack me up Just remember if you get thought you will hav ebook thrown at you! Theft of motor vehicle/taking vehicle without owners consent (TWOC), no insurase, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence (ie you don't have one) to name a few. But you'd probably just get a ban if you did get caught!
  16. Erm no. They wont even accept me for any more cards. Luckily only got one now, but I'm too much of a risk or some shit like that
  17. Haha, you know what I mean... anyway, now I'm working again.... hell yeah!
  18. I packed my level 1 canopy and also my level 4 IIRC. I enjoyed it although was frustrating. Its satisfying to see how it all works and getting hands on, but then I'm a practical person. I think everyone should know how to pack pretty early on. What if, one day there was no packer or they were too busy. Although 4 quid isn't alot of money I would much rather pack for myself, even though im no guru it gives me added peace of mind when I know that it's in the bag and container nicely and I was the last one to do it. Also we get packing credits if we are using club equipment so makes the jumps cheaper. Why do 4 jumps in a day when I could do 5, putting in a little effort and paying the same money? Even if you pack your own gear still money in your pocket for another ticket than someone elses. You can still be social while packing. I find its a good atmosphere in the packing area once that lift have all got down and your all packing together. Paticularly as I'm a new face I get to speak to people I've not before.
  19. Nah, I bought an Ipod Nano cos its nice and small. I don't need a 1000000000000 GBs anyway.... yet
  20. Green Day... of course, what a schoolboy error of mine To Shropshire... the rest of my collection is all Hardcore dance. It just wouldn't work on shuffle!
  21. Hmm. not much attention... Maybe I should only talk about boobies and sex in future
  22. Okay, so I bought an ipod finally. Got as much music as I could possibly remember and added the best of my CD collection. What/who have I missed? Arctic Monkeys, Athlete, JayZ vs Linkin Park, Blur, Coldplay, Duran Duran Eminem, Faith No More, Green Day, Hard-Fi, Jose Gonzalez, Korn, Kristian Leountiou, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Massive Attack, Muse, Oasis, Ordinary Boys, Placebo, Lil' bit of P.O.D, Papa Roach, The Prodigy, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot CHilli Peppers, Skydive Radio Slipknot, Snow Patrol, Soulfly, Spineshank, Therapy?, ......... Who else is worthy? Its a mixed bag of music as you can see
  23. Its some sort of gyroscope inside a ball, as you rotate your hand/wrist it gets faster and so does the effort needed to keep it going. It is harder than it looks/sounds!
  24. Haha, I've used my friends one and I agree you can feel it putting strain on your muscles so must be doing something, surely. If nothing else its quite fun in a sad kinda way
