Fuck... My dad just told me about what some local fishermen have been going through the past two weeks in northern New Brunswick... 5 boats have been totally ravaged by fire and now 2 or 3 fishermen have died this weekend on a fishing expedition... Speaking of injured ppl who don't have insurance, well, some of the boats weren't insured. And my dad thinks one of the dead fisherman was among the people who lost their boat... Shitty... I had to google "scatological" "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

No. He went on to say my lifestyle was lazy, selfish and immature because I was prioritising work over creating something meaningful (family, kids, et cetera). And that under those circumstances, of course it was easier to take risks in life (by changing jobs, for example). Yes, he actually said that. I was having a very interesting conversation with someone about the economical crisis and unemployment, et cetera. However, one thing he said really hit a raw nerve... "Not everyone is educated, single, childless and mobile like you are." Oh *really*??? Isn't that because they *chose* to get married, have kids and stay put??? I'm sorry... Whilst I totally understand we are not all dealt the same cards in life, I'm sick of people judging MY choices like I was just being immature and/or selfish. Please, someone tell me why it's so irresponsible NOT to bring an unwanted child into the world??? Please tell me what is so horrible about not having found someone I want to spend the rest of my life with??? Please tell me why it would be better for me to settle down and procreate with someone I don't love, put aside the things I *do* want to do, end-up getting divorced, working 2 minimum-wage jobs (or on welfare) to support 3 kids I never wanted in the first place??? Thats's such a wonderful situation for everyone to be in, including the poor kids... Yeah. I'm such a bitch for not wanting the life that others have imagined for me... If at one point I do find The One, and I choose to start a family because I *want* one - great. Until then, don't pooh-pooh my choices... At least the only person who could suffer from them is me. Well, I once got a very wet bum the very same way... All it did was teach me to check first. Took a little getting used to, but I seriously don't understand what all the fuss is about. I've never understood this... Can someone explain to me why a guy has to raise *and* lower the seat? If every time I want to pee I need to lower the seat, what is the difference with the guy needing to raise the seat every time *he* needs to pee?? If I ask my partner to lower the seat after he is done, shouldn't I, out of consideration for my partner, raise the seat up when I am done?? I agree. Although I do believe that the rare exceptions I mentioned can come from traumatic and/or life-changing experiences (loss of a loved one, major accident, et cetera). I think less dramatic things can cause people to seriously reconsider their life choices... But changing your behaviour is not changing who you are (IMO). Like I said... I personally believe that people can and do evolve, but I think the vast majority of people don't/can't really change. Ok. Here's what I think: people evolve, but hardly ever change much. I'm not talking about the formative years - I think people develop a great deal right up until their twenties... But change??? Nope. I don't think they do. Aside from a few very rare exceptions... What do you think? Can/do people change? (And I'm not talking about the small stuff like cutting your hair, shaving your beard or getting new clothes...! ) "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

I read about this on reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/18/us-eu-oliveoil-idUSBRE94H09820130518)... Thought it was utterly ridiculous as well... Oil served in a bottle versus a in a glass container... NO difference WHATSOEVER in hygiene... Plus if the restaurant cares about the quality of their customers' experience, the best oil often comes from small independent producers, who do not bottle up the stuff in mass-produced packaging. They are completely out of touch with what matters and what their priorities should be - it's frightening to think a whole team of people came up with this retarded idea. WASTE of time, energy, effort, with results DIRECTLY opposite to its intention. Bunch of fucking morons. They should hide in a cave and never come out. Calm down, Ryoder... Calm down... PS: did you call Lapalisse since they ran the boogies (back in 2000/2001 anyway) Didn't call them but left an email (it was too late in the day)... Thought I'd check here as well in case someone knew it off the top of their head.

OK. I should have bought a CD when I was there, but I didn't... I've googled and most searches come up with "DJ Richie and VJ Tony" but damned if I can find anything where I can buy/download his music mixes... Help? The song is "en décembre" by Pascal Lejeune - see link I did send it... I played/recorded it so many times trying to get it perfect... The first versions are full of mistakes... The last versions my fingers hurt so much I have to stop half-way!!! So I sent her the one that was the least horrible... One week trying to learn the damned thing... 5 hours trying to record it... 3 hours trying to upload it... What a fucking pain!!! She *loved* it, though. She thanked me straight away last night, and she emailed me again this morning to tell me she was playing it over and over and over

All week I've been learning/practicing my mom's favourite song on the guitar as a "gift" for mother's day... Trouble is, I still suck badly and am slightly embarassed every time I hear back the recordings of myself playing/wailing (I don't think it can really be called "singing")... Is this just a stupid idea?? Am I forever going to ruin this song for her?? Oh dear... Our work is having a big party to celebrate its 10 years... We are looking for a cameraman to film and edit a short video of the event. Takes place in Paris (15e arrondissement) on June 19th and should have roughly 200 people. Please PM me for details if you know anyone who could do the work

Some great recipes on here - will have to try them when I get a chance

We didn't get no curry.... I didn't have anything in my fridge - besides, I wanted to take you to the best restaurant in the south of France but it was closed... I make a pretty damned good curry, so when I'm out of ideas or time, I make that for guests... It's easy to adapt the flavours and the hotness... What is your favourite or default meal for guests? Downloaded MacOSaix... It takes your pictures and organises them in a mosaic like the movie poster for The Truman Show... Yes, it crashes about every time you use it, but dammit when you *do* get it to work it's freakin' AMAZING. Great gift idea - we are doing it for our CEO's 50th birthday - the image we picked is made up of the 6000+ pictures people have taken over the 10 years the company has existed. Let's hope the print quality will be good because the image is a very good resolution and you can really see all the little pictures that make up the whole. Very cool! That's pretty much the way it worked when I was in the military! Seriously... In your career, people will try to smear you. Your best defense is like a lot of people said: work hard, do your job well, and document document document. Unfortunately, it won't always repair all the damage someone else has caused, but at least you won't contribute to your own downfall... Some people are clever enough to realise you are new and therefore an easy target for unscrupulous/incompetent jerks... Some people believe everything they are told.. Try not to get discouraged and do your best to consistently demonstrate your skills/value. Same here... I happened to do well in school, and as long as I had good grades, no one really paid attention to what I was doing. As for my siblings, it was like Lisa said: the punishment fit the crime... My sister punched a hole in the wall... She was then made to fill in the hole and repaint the wall. My brother watched TV instead of doing his homework - TV was taken away and put up in the attic. We didn't like the food that mom or dad cooked for us - we didn't have to eat it (but then we wouldn't be offered any substitute)... Et cetera, et cetera.
