Guys: Does a strong, independent woman scare you?
Nataly replied to iluvtofly's topic in The Bonfire
I don't think neediness is sexy.. Then again, it's not especially delightful to be with someone who refuses to let anyone into their heart.. Probably everyone has a slightly different definition of independent - I tend to associate it with someone who is mostly self-sufficient. I think when someone is aggressive or overbearing it's not necessarily a sign of independence - more the mark of a bully.. I think *this* can be a massive turn-off.. You can have a lot of inner strength without scaring people off - just look at how sweet LisaH is -
Obviously it depends on the specifics.. If the item was sold in good faith and the ad was unintentionally open to interpretation, it's possible that you're both at fault - he for not being good with grammar - you for not asking more questions.. In that case, suck it up, because $5 isn't worth arguing about. If his ad was *deliberately* misleading, I personally would want all my money back because one shouldn't have to pay for someone else's dishonesty. Don't forget that you're *both* out of money & it doesn't sound like you've lost very much.. Obviously, I'm going on very little context here, but given he refunded you and changed the ad afterward, this would suggest an element of goodwill on his part.. I'm tempted to say "let it go", especially if you think you might want to deal with this person in the future - "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

I work for L'Oreal and here are a few of ours: Wow.. (s)he has been "L'Orealized" (refers to someone who has learned to adopt the company line without ever questioning it) Not to be confused with a "L'Orealite", which is someone who has worked at L'Oreal since leaving school and because they have no other reference points think the L'Oreal-way is normal.. Also commonly used is the (slightly modified) infamous catch phrase "Because your worth shit" (in reference to how employees are generally treated as disposable). I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar... Given I've played the piano for years, it's nothing short of laziness that I haven't just bought a guitar and taught myself.. until now!! After my exams, I decided to treat myself to a new hobby.. After considering a number of options (including growing a vegetable garden), I thought actually, what better time than now to buy myself a guitar? I went into a shop and there it was in all it's glory.. A *beautiful* PINK dream!! I got the guy in the store to strum a few chords on it, and it sounded amazing (*and* it was pink!). So I bought it! I'm sooooo excited!! I've been practicing and practicing chords for 2 weeks now, and today I (sort-of) learned California Dreaming. Woo hoo!! Only down side is I've gotten so caught up in my excitement that my fingers (left hand) are KILLING ME!! OWWWW!!! Awww MAN I miss the military sometimes!! I used to be in pretty decent shape... When I was on my 3's, the PT instructors clocked that I was a great motivational tool.. They used to get me to do the shuttle run with all their courses... The thing is that you actually get better at it when you know exactly how to pace yourself.. So I used to be able to get to level 11 or 12, which I think is pretty darned good, given you only need like level 3 to pass!!! There's something about a girl doing the test that encourages a lot of guys to just suck it up and push themselves that little bit harder!!! Guess a lot of men just don't like being beaten by a girl!!! Umm.. Yeah.. In hindsight, this should have been pretty obvious!! But the point I was making is that a strong connection like that is rare and precious. I was in no way insinuating that her man is a fag!!! Although on average I spend about 2 hours on the phone per week (mostly at work), I *can* relate to having a strong connection with someone and spending hours on end on the telephone with him.. (And I really *hate* talking on the phone.) I knew this one guy in highschool and we used to talk to each-other straight through the night and never get bored of it.. Just go with it.. You might never meet anyone else in your whole life who just *gets* you. Enjoy it

The thing is that everyone's definition of risk varies.. Some people take unnecessary risks without fully weighting out the rewards vs the consequences.. They just want to be "cool".. This is generally a bit nuts.. But if you understand the risks, and you make a conscious decision based on the fact that you feel the rewards outweighs the risks.. That's not so nuts.. No amount of preaching will change people's attitude towards risk.. The only thing that should matter anyway is whether you appreciate the danger, and whether *you* feel comfortable with it. No real need to convince other people.. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

To Fake or not To Fake that is the question....

Feel free to PM those instructions my way. I am a firm believer in continuing education. -
Well, she is on an island, she fucked someone, so I tried rationalizing it, small island, she was in deep regret, drunk, ok shit happens, this was last year, we have a great time back here in the states, then she goes back out to that island. That fucking island has a curse. Well when she gets back, I sure as hell won't be around. Though about joining the military actually, (second time). Bit cryptic, so not really sure what to say.. Except you seem pretty unhappy about the whole thing.. That alone should reassure you that maybe a break-up isn't the worst thing in the world.. Hell, I've just had a really rough year and I was thinking just this week how glad I am to be where I am today.. I think in time I will keep the good memories and put the bad feelings behind me. Again, sorry to hear you seem to be going through some tough shit.. Keep your chin up & look after *yourself* for a bit, ok? I could reverse that argument right back at ya in relation to giving her an orgasm!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss -
Aw man, I really like that

Really. You're better off making sure that she doesn't have an orgasm. That way she's not sprawled out panting and recovering when she could be up fixing your sammich. You're so wrong.. Give her a *real* orgasm, and she'll be fixing you the best damn sammich you've ever had without you even asking for it!!! She didn't ask if it was effective - she asked if it was mean!! In all seriousness, though, I actually agree. If like me you were just fed up and had nothing to lose, by all means, send a message that shows how annoyed you are. If, however, you still need to do business with them, or you want them to do something about their poor service, you need to be quite clear about what they did wrong. Unfortunately, when you're as much of a doofus as I am, people tend to know who you are before you even introduce yourself.. So a fake name is not really an option!!! (Although in "real life", I'm not really "Nataly", but in fact "Natalie" - *gasp*!! I know.. It's probably shocking to everyone, but it's true!!!) But doesn't this just encourage the poor bastard to keep giving a sub-standard performance?? Hey! Our egos are fragile, m'kay? (But you do have a point.) I'm all for encouraging a guy, but I would think faking means he has no incentive to improve because he thinks he's already doing all the right things.. Hey.. My best ever partner was also my worst *ever* in the beginning.. I simply told him what I liked/disliked and encouraged him every time he got it *right*. I *never* faked it, and eventually he got VERY real orgasms from me -
