  1. Oh yes, he's back in school, learning marketable skills. Im glad he's finally doing something to make you proud Yeah.. I was going to say the same thing.. Kallend doesn't seem to appreciate all the stuff one achieves in the military - sounds like a typical civvy. Education is great - don't get me wrong.. But it's no substitute for life experience. 2. 1. Why was the ex 10 feet away at the same bar? 2. If she wants someone's number that's her business (but she doesn't have to be rude about it) 3. Why the hell would the ex get mad?? If she just wants attention - she wins; otherwise, he still winds up looking like a knob. 1. Because it's hiphop/open mic night, and he usually plays the drums there, and she happens to come on that night. 2. True 3. Because he is apparently jealous or upset or annoyed that the girl asked me...err...the bouncer for his number. She sounds like trouble.. Enjoy! 3. I think everyone who has had roommates has horror stories.. I had two FANTASTIC house-mates for several months.. Everything was awesome until one of them moved out and the nightmare moved in.. She was a complete disaster and the worst part was that she was so ditsy she had no clue about how her behaviour affected the other 2 people in the house.. No matter how many times we talked to her it was just a never ending stream of inconsiderateness.. I had to move out, and the other guy who lived there moved out a couple of weeks later.. hmm.. Nice girl in principle, but HORRIBLE house-mate.. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  4. Hmm.. My heart got broken in the UK.. Which is a little bit why I don't feel so happy here anymore. But hey - I'm fortunate enough to be getting my British passport in a couple of months.. So I'm sticking around until then and after that I think I will travel/work in another European country.. Maybe Paris would be a nice place to start - at least I speak Le Frog so that should make things a bit easier!
  5. Good point. I spent 7 years in the military and also managed to graduate with First Class Honours at university (came out with ZERO debt). It's not like the forces will deplete your brain cells!!! 6. Well, it's like I said.. A lot of civilians don't understand it at all.. It's a question of relating your experience in a way where they can see that you *did* gain valuable kills.. Apart from anything else, there is a hell of a lot of jargon in the military - half the battle is explaining what you did in "plain English"!!! But some people don't want to hear it, unfortunately.. Just seems not to compute. It's their loss IMO. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

  8. Well, I wouldn't agree with that entirely.. He probably learned a lot about leadership; working in teams; doing/managing "projects"; seeing things through.. He probably met people from all walks of life and is able to socialise with people at all levels (be that a poor private or a high-ranking officer, or someone from an entirely different country/culture).. I mean.. Those skills aren't "obvious", but I don't know many civilian jobs where people/leadership skills aren't an asset. Those shouldn't be underestimated, but they are often overlooked. 9. So I was talking to someone yesterday and they asked me when I was going to go back "home" (to Canada).. For me it was a bit of an odd question because I haven't lived there in 5 years, so I don't think of it as my home anymore.. I don't know at what point "going back" stopped seeming like the obvious thing I'd eventually do.. It got me thinking, though.. Is the UK really what I consider "home" now? I'm not so sure.. I fit in a lot better, but still often feel like an outsider.. Then again, the last time I visited Canada I felt *really* out of place and everyone kept telling me I sounded British!!! Ha ha ha!! So now I'm wondering about people who travel a lot. I don't mean just vacationing - I mean real globe-trotters.. Do they ever feel "settled"? Or do they always feel slightly out of place and hence get itchy feet? Anyone care to share their thoughts?? 10. Dude I really feel for you.. I had something similar (but *far* less serious) happen to me a couple of years ago.. I lived in an apartment block and one day this huge boiler shows up in the shared entrance next to one of the apartment doors.. The next day, the huge boiler and a bunch of boxes found themselves in the middle of the shared entrance, which was quite small to begin with.. After several weeks, I got really fed up one day because we had to carry a new bed up 7 flights of stairs because that fucking boiler was still there and blocking the elevator.. So I knocked on the door of the apartment where I thought the boiler/boxes had come from.. I asked very politely if she knew why there was this huge boiler in the entrance. She said yeah, it was hers but she couldn't move it and I was a racist bitch because she was black and she fucking *worked* for a living, etc., etc.. I was like "what??? This has NOTHING to do with the colour of your skin - I didn't even know you were black until just now - I just want you to get rid of your goddamned boiler".. I think some people are deliberately confrontational this way when they know they are in the wrong. But holy shit I was pissed off. That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard. For all the times people are genuinely racist, calling out the racist card this way is just fucking stupid. 11. Yep.. Have to agree.. Can't imagine being a sniper converts too well!! To be fair, some police departments (in the US) have uses for snipers. I don't think many have jobs for cannon crewmembers. Hmm.. Yes - possibly.. But that's still pretty limiting.. And I imagine if you left an organisation like the military because you didn't like it, you might not be super keen on joining an organisation like the police force (because it's a bit too familiar).. But yeah.. Your example is a better one
  12. Men already rule the world.. If they understood women they would bow down to us instead!! So I think this one would backfire on ya!!! Mine would be: 1-immortality (with the free-will to kill myself - ie: only I can end my life) 2-eternal beauty/youth/health Reckon those two would suffice.. Given enough time, I'd be able to achieve just about anything.. And the second point is purely out of vanity!! 16. I was in the (Canadian) Air Force for 7 years as an Aviation Systems Technician (engines, airframe, instrument/electrical, safety systems and armament). It was good fun, but when I wanted to get out my experience didn't convert especially well.. That being said, I moved into a totally different field, so it might have been difficult anyway. People either love or hate that you have a military background. Most civilians don't understand it at all. A common question I used to get asked in interviews afterwards was whether I thought people would listen to me now that I didn't "outrank" them!! Or I'd get asked whether I'd be able to listen to my boss because I was just starting out again.. I'm like.. Well fuck.. The military is like any place else.. If your boss doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, some "title" isn't going to command anyone's respect!! Since I have an Air Force background, I'm obviously biased in favour of the Air Force.. If you think about it, though.. Lots of greenies convert to blue uniforms but you hardly ever see the opposite happen. You can say it's 'cause we're not tough enough - I think it's because the Air Force treats their people very well (nice benefits, etc.). As I said though, I'm obviously biased, so don't all you grunts get your panties in a twist because you know the grass is greener on the other side!! I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the military, but we were FAR less operational than the US is currently. So that is definitely something to consider. 18. It's not so stupid.. Twice per year I have an excuse to show up 1hr late to work.. 19. I remember a poll in the women's forums once, asking when you(women responders only) experienced their first orgasm. I think the average was something like early to mid 20's. One girl posted she had her first in her early teens and some of the other women in the thread said they didn't believe her. Guys have their first orgasm, what, age 12-16 maybe, or whenever the first time they masturbate is? Dunno if that's a physical difference or mental one. Ok - busted!! But I still think the difference is *less* physiological and more sociological than people realise. Even when it comes to orgasms.. 20. Everything about that message sounds dodge.. Reckon he's not even in the UK, since few of us would put dashes in a phone number. 0208 numbers are for central London landlines.. Numbers with 123 in it tend to be skype numbers, so this seems fairly bogus. A quick google search shows you that "Skydive Canterbury" is in New Zealand.. And the post-code (which over here would tell you the precise address where it points to) is for Canterbury Christ Church University. Sorry mate, but a quick google search is all it took to find out all of this.. Shame you fell for it, but you really ought to be more careful who you send money to.. Edit to say: I would think your culprit is most likely in North America (because of the terrible piecing together of info and the dashes in the phone number). 21. It's so great to see that some people do stay together
  22. I rest my case.. Ever heard of foreplay?? Sex to you might equal penis + vagina.. Don't get me wrong - that is a very good combination.. But I think perhaps you need to expand your definition of "sexual needs"... Women are generally much more "touchy-feely" than men.. If you ask questions only about being poked, than maybe that's why the percentages are so off - you're probably not including a whole range of sexual wants and needs.. 23. Shah.. I sincerely doubt that you understand any aspect of being a woman - despite your 20-question "study" on our sexual "needs".. 70/30?? That is total crap. The consequences of a woman being promiscuous are NOT synonymous with what happens in high-school.. I'm talking about *women* here.. It's subtle, and it's not from the "non-sexual" women either - it's from society at large. Just consider how much a woman loses credibility if she wears the "wrong" clothes at work.. Would a man not be taken seriously if he undid one button too many on his dress-shirt? Doubtful. The pressure women feel to be "good girls" doesn't come from your 70% cock-blockers.. Perhaps the reason your numbers came out so disproportionately high is because you were asking about sex from a male perspective.. Women want sex just as much as men - we're just not interested in getting it the same way.. We crave emotional connections as opposed to just a "fuck".. Maybe you need to expand your definition of sex to include more sensuality and you'd find women are very sexual creatures.. But hey.. What do I know?! I appreciate that you may be injecting some humour in your posts.. But seriously.. If everyone is screaming at you - do you think that maybe it's what you're *saying* that is outrageous and not the fact that everyone else won't accept your version of the "truth"?? 24. I don't think the difference is a physiological one.. I think women are socialised to be "good girls".. You probably have no idea how much having a "slutty" reputation can affect a woman.. But I think you're kidding yourself if you think we don't have the very same needs as you guys.. We just like a man to approach us from the heart - we like some emotions to be involved.. We like to feel that it meant something.. All of that doesn't mean we aren't just as horny as you men. Obviously I can't speak for all of woman-kind.. But Shah - you are certainly NOT representative of all man-kind either...
