  1. Any one know where I could get a set of Type 17 risers made with the standard size rings? (Not mini rings!).
  2. Yea, that really sucks. Who else, when flying rigless, still thinks "Maybe if I track really well and I find a nice soft marsh or something..." I don't do that, but I have this bad habit of looking out the window and my left wrist shortly after getting in the air.
  3. Full Story: Reuters Fixed it fer ya.
  4. I'm not "blaming the canopy" for anything. I haven't had any trouble landing anything I've flown lately, I just think the Sabre2 was more fun to land than anything I've flown so far. If I want sporty turns, I'm going to try to find a canopy of the same size (a 230) with more sporty turns that I won't kill myself under. I'm not going to go spend $1500+ on a canopy that I'm not completely happy with.
  5. How did the Safire compare to the Sabre in toggle pressure and turn rate? I've flown both Sabre 2's and Safire 2's at a 1.2 WL. and the comments above are spot on. In regards to your questions, the Sabre 2 had significantly lighter toggle and riser pressure and a fair bit longer recovery arc, but, IMO, a lesser turn rate. The Sabre 2 is also, IMO, a lot easier to spin up. My openings on my Safire 2 are ultra soft but the canopy wants to do a lazy spiral during the snivel. Not a major issue as harness shifting counters it, and it may very well be a result of the mods done to mine and not a feature common to stock Safire 2's. -Blind Thanks for the info, it's exactly what I've been looking for. I absolutely loved the way the Sabre2 landed, but it felt sluggish in turns. I'm going to give the Firebolt a try here in a few weeks, and if it doesn't land as well as the Sabre2 I'll probably just have to call PD and order one.

  7. Well, if you're under your reserve, it means you chopped your main, so you lost about 10 pounds. I'm jumping a 170 main and a 160 reserve, so the wing loading should be about the same. Not really. I landed with my main still in the container on my only reserve ride.
  8. LMFAO, thanks for that. The GAO report said that women make 80% less than men, but that gender discrimination was only one factor. The "mommy track" seemed to be a big factor too. Based on info I've read, men work an average of 44hrs/wk, where women work an average of 41hrs/wk, which accounts for a large % of the pay gap. Also, men tend to work in more dangerous jobs (99% of all people killed on the job are men), and tend to pursue jobs that require more travel than women do. The book I posted a link to explains things pretty well. Same here.
  9. Nope. That's large hole mesh. I still love Lee's web site, though. I'm pretty sure he'd be able to make one for ya. If I see him out at the DZ tomorrow I'll ask him if you want, just let me know.
  10. This what you're looking for (about half way down) ? http://www.applieddeceleration.com/base/products/le_accessories.htm
  11. There's all kinds of people. It's expensive, but I spend alot less money on other crap than I used to, so it works out in the end.
  12. Ok, you're a liar. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0814472109/qid=1129862046/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-7305805-1768864?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Read this book, it explains things pretty well. You can question the author's credibility if you want, but he is the only man in the US to ever have been elected three times to the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Women (N.O.W.) in New York City.
  13. I don't know, but the locks I've seen included with guns I've bought are generally the cheapest ones available. I don't think it would effect the cost enough to cause problems.
  14. It's not a copy of the tempo (there have been many threads about this very subject on here). I recall someone from Aerodyne saying that was a completely new design.
  15. For the cord that keeps the legstraps from sliding around when freeflying.
  16. So when are you running for office?
  17. Thought about a Smart 160? I believe they pack a little bit smaller than PD's, so it may fit in your rig.
  18. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I still believe that you are better off landing a large (i.e. 250 square foot) reserve - with the brakes stowed - than any round reserve. Hint, I worked on all phases of TSO testing for the P124A/Aviator pilot emergency parachute system containing 290 square foot, ram air canopies. On several occasions, I landed them down-wind, in the toolees, with my hands off the controls. All those landings were softer than rounds. But what have I learned after 28 years .. well over 4,300 jumps, etc. Any idea what the difference in descent rates between an equally loaded Tempo 250 and a commonly used round reserve would be?
  19. Or Waxahachie Never.... Ugh.... all the time. What usually ends up happening is both cars go at the same time and one ends up having to stop in the middle of the intersection.. My brother actually got up on the roof of his house to look for a funnel after a siren, then called me on his cell when he saw one.
  20. I guess it's a better marketing plan than telling you that that they don't want to buy modern equipment. Yep. Seems to be working pretty good so far. Did you ask them why nearly all other DZ's use square reserves if they are so dangerous?
  21. On your pilot they're not, but they are on most canopies.
