  1. While I agree, if you could roll medicare into the same system, I think bringing back some semblance of market forces would be a net cost savings when compared to the current system. Removing the perception of spending other people's money is a necessity if costs need to come down.
  2. And under what circumstances must he use it? I'm trying to understand why Obama must attack another sovereign nation. What would force him to do that?
  3. It wouldn't surprise me if the number was actually higher than that. Now that I think about it, I sold all my firearms a few years ago. No firearms here officer.... +1 I would think most cops in Texas are smarter than that I promise I will never loose that right. I will die with that right! Well, I'd assume if they were successful in getting rid of #2 they'd take care of #4 as well, so my statement probably wouldn't help me much...
  4. I believe the .45LC is the same way, except there are quite a few revolvers out there that are capable of shooting some very hot .45LC loads (near .44mag velocities, which is a similarly sized cartridge). With standard loads, they're two entirely different beasts. Whether or not a .357 has a longer case than needed depends on what powder you're using with it. A good comparison with the .38/.357 would be the .45LC and the .454 Casull. Recoil on standard .45LC loads is light, but the .454 is based on the same cartridge and it's a monster. I think the .460S&W mag is based on the .45LC as well.
  5. Well, if he did, I'm sure it'd go down as "we were forced into this situation because of the Bush foreign policies".
  6. You'd be amazed at how much difference a good (or bad) CEO can make at a company. I'm not saying it's true in every case (hence the word 'generally'), but in most cases it's true. Keep in mind that most people aren't CEO's either. OK, but are they more productive accirding to their pay taht equals sometimes 100's or thousands of workers? I think you just kinda threw that out there. What part of "in general" don't you understand? Don't think they make that much of a difference? Read up on Nardelli at Home Depot.
  7. How are you supposed to tell if someone breaking into your home in the middle of the night is looking for booze? Do you ask them? If they weren't, how well do you think that'd work out? It's rational to assume that someone that just broke into your home intends to do you harm, and it's rational to respond accordingly.
  8. According to me? You speak for me now? You really don't stop with the assumptions about people do you? And my thought would be "It they knew they weren't going to get money from the government for having kids, would they be more likely to wait until they could afford it?" Why do people have kids when they can't afford to? Because they can, and the government not only enables the behavior, you could even argue that it encourages it. As a society, we've been 'helping' them for generations, and yet their situation hasn't changed. Is that really help?

  10. If you can't see the difference between getting something back and getting something you never paid in the first place I'm not sure there's anything anyone can do to help you. We've all had the math done, what I'm saying is that with stimulus checks and with EIC they can both be matters of getting back more than you pay in. LMK when you grasp that concept. I believed we were referring to his specific situation, and yes, I am aware the same "credit" exists for the stimulus checks and EIC.
  11. Except where is the line drawn between 'Assistance' and 'Enabling' ? Given that there are generations of welfare-dependent families, is it possible that these programs are enabling the very problems they seek to eliminate? If you reward something, do you usually get more of it?
  12. While I think taxes are a separate issue, I'd say generally, yes. Earning more usually means you're more productive.

  14. I qualified for EIC one year when I was in school and only working part time. No kids. The original premise you are complaining about is false. Fair enough. When I have some more time I'll look at what does and doesn't qualify so I have a better idea of how it works. I've made the assumption that kids play a large factor in being eligible for EIC, and that may be false.
  15. Data? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data It's right there, numbers, information. I'm not talking nationalist rhetoric about how the the US is the best ever and how tax cuts, my friends, are the answer for everything. I'm talking numerically-based information. And more generalizations. I wasn't even being serious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y8Sx4B2Sk
  16. With you? No. I'm not in the mood to waste my time. If it was coming from lawrocket or Tom A. I might. They'll actually discuss a topic as opposed to making partisan generalizations and resorting to name-calling. You're so convinced of your own moral superiority you think no one's arguments have any merit no matter their content, you've shown that in other threads. It's a waste of my time. Personally I think you're on here just because you're entertained by the sound of your own voice, so to speak.
  17. Well, I'd hate for you to actually have to admit that opinions other than your own actually have merit, I know it'd be terrible for you.
  18. Well, you didn't leave an option for "none of the above". I mean, leaving only three possible responses, all of which coincide with your point of view is great way to do a poll...
  19. Thanks for that, I'll have to read it after I get done with "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".
  20. It wouldn't surprise me if the number was actually higher than that. Now that I think about it, I sold all my firearms a few years ago. No firearms here officer....
  21. Naaaa I say we tax his plane fuel at $2 a gallon to pay for the Next Gen ATC that our wonderful GOVT has been primising us for years. john Loves taxes just as long as he doesn have to pay for it. Also up the registration for his plane also. Theres another tax you should be all for. It's for the good of the people to pay high taxes remember John. Don't whine about it. Just do it and take it like a man. Here's an interesting article on that.... http://reason.org/files/c1a82c766aec1c5b8ee55404ca00fb30.pdf
  22. Passing a law banning guns doesn't have a magical power to make them all disappear. If something did pass, they'd still have to collect all 250,000,000 of them from people, a daunting task. How would they know who had them? There's no central registration database for them. There is paperwork kept on file with FFLs, but I'm betting a lot of that would be "misplaced" if there was a ban. All that doesn't even consider that people might not be so willing to hand them over. That's just to get them from the law-abiding people. How do you go about getting them from criminals? They're certainly not going to give them up just because it's illegal. Hell, being a felon with a firearm is illegal already. Then you have to worry about the illegal gun trafficking from Mexico, etc.. It's pretty impractical no matter which side you agree with.
  23. Paying poor people to have kids is just about the most idiotic idea ever. Only in government....
