Green, black, maroon or red it doesn't matter Adam. Wear it with pride. The rangers (LRPS) I flew in SE Asia were mostly ex SF's that had to give up their green and go to black. They were still elite and I was extremely proud to have flown them. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

Yes, it is against the law. FAR 91.17 makes allowances for passengers taking prescription medication. FAR 105.7 does not. It states ..any drug that effects the persons faculties in any way contrary to safety. No allowance for medication. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843 -

( Drunks and Dopers are a hazard... offense intended) FAR 91.15 _ No pilot can carry a passenger that is intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.( jump? hell, you can't even carry them) FAR 105.7 No one can jump under the influence of drugs or alcohol. These are just the 3 that directly apply to skydiving. FAR Part 135, 141, 121 etc,etc are even more stringent. FAR 105 pertains to skydivers, not just the pilots. All could be liable if someone gets injured on the ground or in the air. If your under the influence, you are NOT getting on my aircraft. It's just not worth getting your license pulled. The 650hp one was bought from someone in Illinois, maybe the same one as there were only a few converted. It did go on it's back once but NOT from fuel starvation. During the landing roll out on a winter day the main gear broke through a small patch of ice in a low area on the runway. It was only a few inch drop but enough to start it over in very slow motion, the pilot could not keep the tail down. New prop, some wing tip and vertical stabilizer repair it was back in the air within weeks. Yes it was a rocket! GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

------------------------------------------------------------ There was an entire load dropped into I think Lake erie. 100% bad spot. ---------------------------------------------------------- It was not a"SPOT" at all. It was improper radar identification by Cleveland Center. There was no such thing as GPS, no transponder on the aircraft and you can't spot on top of a complete overcast. The pilot requested his position from ATC and he was told he was over Ortner Field! They exited. Wrong airplane, the rest is history sorry to say. Ironically I had just met 10 of them the week before in Wooster Ohio doing competition water jumps in a "Hit and Swim" meet. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

Who is responsible for the exit point the pilot or jumper???......... BOTH! I have flown jumpers for over thirty years, at many different DZ's, in almost every type of aircraft used, with and without GPS. Sometimes I get corrections (but not very often.) They are usually as result of attempting to avoid cloud cover, not to get back on the jumprun. Sometimes ( very seldom) I make go arounds due to the jumpers taking excessive time between groups. Please do no take more time than is necessary as it only ends up putting the rest of the load in jeopardy. I do not mind corrections or go arounds if they are necessary for safety reasons. It is my opinion that it is everyones responsibility to be safe. Corrections: If the aircraft is not GPS equipped then corrections may be necessary on many jump runs. If The aircraft is GPS equipped then I know a very small number of jumpers that could spot the load with anywhere near the accuracy of the GPS. On larger aircraft with GPS , landing OUT is not usually due to being off the jumprun but being long due to the length of time the jumpers take getting out.especially when there are many separate groups. The last groups can still safely make the jump if they know they are a little long.Take a look! If there is no hope of getting back, ask for a go around. If your just slightly long ,plan on pulling a few hundred feet higher. I have seen some not make it back because they smoked it down to 2000 FT and then want to blame the pilot for a bad spot.(even though the video guy with the tandem made it back and exited later, (Not much awareness there) The type of aircraft being used, the experience( or quality) of the pilot, the experience (or quality) of the jumper, the size of the dropzone and it's layout, are all huge variables when discussing spotting. Without considering all of these variables it is difficult, if not impossible to decide in the forum. (although there is some good food for thought here.) The pilot and the jumper are both responsible for keeping the sport safe. Pilots and jumpers both should know their limitations and abilities. Work together. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

Pop that was one of two we had at Skydive Greene County in Xenia Ohio from about 1964 to 1968. This one was the standard R985 450hp. The other was an animal, with a 650 HP Pratt. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

First main was a 24 ft reserve with a 5TU.( I only weighed 87pounds) The reserve was a26ft navy conical.( Bigger than the Main) The harness was custom made for an Army WAC at Ft. Knox Ky.( I was 4ft 11inches) It was white with PINK PADS! I wouldn't jump it till we tried to dye it black. It turned out gray with Maroon Pads. Now that was acceptable for a 13 year old. What is the frictional coefficient for the balloon? ( it's ground speed is probably not 20MPH) What is the frictional coef. for the skydivers? ( that would determine how fast they would decelerate after leaving the balloon) And again, what is the frictional coef. for the round? (once open it 's ground speed would accelerate) Not enough information to answer the question
