  1. Is that PMR? If so it has really changed since 87. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  2. Wow, That was taken back when INS was still looking for him. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  3. Woeste is a controller at Atlanta ARTCC, Hartman is living on a farm in Ohio. Don't know Hall GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  4. That is a funny story and condoms may have been used to keep water out of weapons. However the ones in survival kits were primarily for flight crews who were not issued rifles , only pistols. (We did carry our own weapons but they were not issued) GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  5. You are correct. The condoms were to be placed in a sock for support and then filled with water for a make-shift canteen. You would have to be pretty thirsty. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  6. The survival kits had all sorts of stuff in them including condoms. Anyone know what they were for? It's not the obvious. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  7. You are correct. The other FARs to consider are the ones prohibitting passengers while conducting training unless they are crew members also being trained. (I may be getting the Parts mixed up though, 61,91,135,121) I'd have to research that. At any rate, ( in my opinion as a check airman), any training with passengers on board is not a good idea. If people want to do this training I feel it should be with ballast and not people. ( ref Murhy's Law) GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  8. Fortunatly I never had to use one but we did shoot them off at New Years and some times after drinking a little too much. If I remember correctly the projectile had a metal ball about the size of a 38 Caliber. It seems to me they would go about 800 to 1000 feet up. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  9. The oldest DZ for continued operation in the US is Skydive Greene County in Xenia Ohio. Founded in 1961 and has never stopped operations. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  10. There may be a schedule that the meet director would like to adhere to but the order is usually dependent on the weather. (wind or ceilings) They normally like to get in enough minimum rounds that are required to complete an event ( if the weather were to turn bad) before moving on to the next. Usually there are two to three events going at the same time. In other words it would probably be difficult at this point to know which days you would be competing. I am in no way an authority and this is only my personal observations and I could be way off base. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  11. In Jr High and early High school I was considered by some a juvenile delinquent. Today I think their called behavior disorders. Had I not been a juvenile and had I been convicted of all I was charged with back then, I would never have been able to have the last three occupations I've held since then, as they all require security clearances. I won't go into detail but some of my escapades are considered felonies today. After one of my escapades, a DZO and his wife said I was going to live with them. Had it not been for a couple of "Legends" in the sport making me live with them and "forcing" me to work at the dropzone, learning to jump, fly and compete, I very well could have been a guest of the State. That being said, since growing up at the dropzone and with the positive role models there and at home, I never once did anything illegal or unethical since. Well almost never. I did do a "Bandit" Demo my Senior year into Homecomikg at Halftime and recieved a $50 cival penalty from the Feds. That was my last brush with the law. Thanks Boss & Lee GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  12. That is a pretty accurate assesment of the Airforce reaction to the Caribou. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
  13. I think you may be mistaking the OV-1 Mohawk which was used by the Army. The OV-10 Bronco was used by the Marines. The Cessna 337 was the O-2 used by the Airforce. In either case , none were similar to the C119 which was a generation earlier, bigger, slower and had reciprocating engines unlike the OV-1 &10 Which had turbines. The aircraft that started the Airforce/Army disagreement I think was the Caribou. The Airforce didn't want it until the Army proved how sucessful it was. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

  17. He's looking to see if there is any record of the old license rolls etc... ------------------------------------------------------------ If my memory serves correct....... USPA was PCA. It was only a name change in the mid-sixties to sound more proffesional ( ie Assoc vs Club) Also a move of the Headquarters around the same time. ( From Monteray Cal.) The only licenses at the time were A,B,C,D( same numbers). There were no other awards at that time. Gold wings , Freefall badges, Instructer ratings etc came much later. P.S. I found my original logbook , will scan and post the license requirements in a bit. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

  19. quote:.........That's what the old Viet Nam pilots learned in and there were some great stories coming from them, bombing runs, landing on water tanks, stealing your buddies helo when he went to pee, buzzing cars... As one told me, "What were they going to do to me, send me to Viet Nam?" ..... ---------------------------------------------------------- Do really believe this??? Most of us were teenagers or in our early 20's with a super cool toy. Why would we fool around like that? We were quite professional GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

  25. The fact that a commisioned officer in the armed forces, whether on active duty or in the reserves, who meets with the enemy during an ongoing conflict, should be court martialed and tried as a traitor. This would be the case in any war in any country. GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843
