so then... air temps are going UP..... could the following fact be contributing??? nearly EVERY public or commercial building, constructed in the last 20 years HAS central Air conditioning... and many MANY residential buildings...( houses) also have CA.... so... while we are lowering the air temps INSIDE,,,,, doesn't THAT require that all these rooftop units, and hell... even window AC units,,, put out MUCH elevated exhaust air???? i'm no engineer, but i bet some of those large units HAVE to be dumping substantial amounts of "well heated air."..into the environment.... we all contribute to that,,, anytime we crank the thermostat DOWN...... Has the amount AND the elevated temperatures,,,of all this exhausted air gotten so great.... that it contributes to the rise in ambient air temps...??? just wondering...

first of all.... Communicate effectively with the entire group about where you plan to BE... throughout the entire dive.. THEN Be there...Work with the L O and be sure to attend the dirt dive(s) I've had the pleasure of videoing big ways from a Casa,, (as well as otters ) many times.. Think hard, about exiting First..( Not always good) since you could put yourself out and away.... real quick... If you jump the gun and leave at any point which is before the base... Leave late.. and you're INTO the base... so there is a fine touch when it comes to the exit TIMING i have had success being off to the side, on the ramp, and leaving WITH them.. Brief the divers, that You WILL be there,,, as they clear the door,,, and tell them which side you will move to.... Let the late divers KNOW that you will be on this side or that side, etc.... This way you can capture the launch and then get positioned relative to the location of the sun... be sure to stay out of any of the diving lanes.. for the late flyers.. KNOW the formation,,, so that as it builds you can position yourself to fill your frame.. without being to close,,, OR too far away/above. IF the formation does NOT build... ( as might be the case with "a variety of skill levels" ) do your best to be AWARE of exactly WHERE ... the jumpers who are OUT.. ( or under it ) may be.. this about collision avoidance and self preservation.... You can move your eyes ONLY to scan for anyone who is NOT docked.. without having your cameras leave the formation... Start moving UP a bit as seperation altitude is approaching.. I seldom sit fly and so would not find myself Under it, looking UP.. But if YOU do.... then get Those creative shots, early On.. and then get outta there.. Jumpers who are turning and tracking almost always have NO idea, of where the camera guy is.... and a facefull of a friend.. coming right AT you....at 4 grand or worse yet , 3 grand is NO good.. so be Up ... near the end of the dive, and press to where the center of the formation WAS..... and Pull!!! let 'em all KNOW either at the D Dive. or while boarding.... that you'll "take the center".. and DO so... You can also leave from inside aircraft,,, which allows you to turn and scan the divers... as the base is setting up.. and then go RIGHT with them.... moving to a pre-declared side.. as soon as the exit is completed. This way IF the base comes off clean... you have a good close-up of it.... instead of being way "down the hill from it"... You can then scan UPwards to catch the later exiters for a second or 2 or 3.... Then back to the base as flyers start to close on it... have fun... skydive safely jmy A 3914 D 12122

sorry to hear about the fall.... as for going to a Doc.... it could depend on whether you have medical insurance or not... certainly Do NOt go to an E R unless you're covered,,,, ( check for what your deductible might be ) Ribs are Very tender and heal slowly, and often the doctor would do Little other than verify any hairline crack via x ray... which would AT LEASt confirm your suspicion that something did break..... your call..... but i've found it is a good policy to stay OUT of hospitals if at all possible, and UNLESS you have a long time doctor whom you trust.... a visit for an injury which is NOt threatening your viability, could be unnecessary..imho good luck... give it some time, to heal... jmy

well THERE you GO !!!! what a thoughtful and sweet comment.... That is what the sport is all about. Congrats Mr. Peek !!!!!

i dunno ... LEt me Guess.... we have two people ( the young man, and an officer) who "interpret things" a little differently..... no problem.... this is America... we call that Diversity.... but then, personalities factor in... an exchange of some sort occurs...maybe the police officer pushes his authority a bit, and One thing leads to another..... we can't be sure of the demeanor of EITHER party but as is the case with MOST volatile issues, sometimes people who are basically the same... take a 180 degree stance on a particular subject.... and charges were placed against the young man....i'm thinking the cop "was making a point"...by the arrest... ( though i DON'T agree... with it. ) None of this is good for anyone, aside from hopefully learning in some way how to compromise... Mix in a few "zealots for the cause".... and there you go...... News!!!!!!!!! Best if people try to stay sensible in excersizing any rights.... and work toward some degree of commonality, instead of being overly supportive of One FRINGE ... or the OTHER.... on a scale of 1 to 10.... the Ones are sometimes wacko... and the 10's are sometimes wacko ... best to run in the range between 3 and 8... on most subjects,,, and life can then be,,,,, less stressful....

sadly , your subject wording is perfect for the topic... i took the time to read the entire link, alll the way to the last paragraph, to be sure. These losses of life are among active duty. and don't include honorably discharged veterans. and at home reservists..ANd it's just for the first 155 days of the year,,, 200+ more days to go. GQ_jumper...your post is frank, and sensible and i believe it to be accurate. Because of our volunteer only Armed Services, there is little doubt that those joining, do so with great Patriotism, Energy and a desire to Step UP... Our ( those who have never served ) ( of whom i am One, BUT .... NOT as you describe......"proclaiming ANY sort of expertise"...)...Our gratitude to these men and women of strength and character, who absolutely "take up the battle" on behalf of the USA... should be unquestioned.... Respect for and "smart and maximum utilization " of, returning troops, is a win - win for everyone... When consdering returning Vets, We're talking about well trained people who know how to work together, can understand the intricacies of a complex project, and can fully envision the way their team can accomplish it,,,,and ( UNLIKE much of the Private sector,,, and certainly UNLIKE our local state and federal Governments!!!! ) CAN go out, and GET stuff Done...How more more evidence of THAT, than multiple tours of Duty,,,,,, do we need?? I long ago learned that some guy in a suit, with a big-deal college degree or multiple diplomas, but who NEVER had it tough,,, doesn't always compare , to the guys in the trenches. the clock punchers. the skilled tradesmen and other folks of simple means,,,, which builds solid character..Don't always judge a mans integrity by his attire.....but i digress..... Can't states and counties create teams to do Local projects, like property rehabilitations,,, Like taking vacant homes and buildings, and re-working them to house..... OH i dunno,,, Maybe Homeless Vets?? or Homeless FAMILIES????? create a REAL sense of community, where residents and School children, can SEE these Teams in action... and can SEE the houses and buildings restored.... Man, 10 Gallons of paint!!!! can do wonders... Every city in this country has vacant, abandoned, deteriorating properties. Many now belong to one govt. entity or another, through neglect of the last owner regarding payment of property taxes.. So go through neighborhoods, identify the houses which should be Knocked Down.... Salvage, anything from Fancy Moldings, to doors, useable fixtures to windows, strip the copper,,,, ( before the desperate residents of the neighbohood get there ) and then Use those components to re-work the places that ARE still in good shape.. I bet an Army Soldier who ran a tank crew,,,, can certainly operate the type of excavator that would help in such demolition... and working with a Crew,,, which is a long lost art, in most cases can result in a TON of work getting done in a short amount of time. Then you truck in some topsoil, to that "now vacant " lot, and allow folks in the Local community, to "GASP" !! Grow a vegetable garden !!! win Win Mostly you create a sense of need, of inclusion, in everyone, especially those who ARE having a tough time, for whom there is no job, awaiting their return and sometimes, no family..........You enlist these talented people to do what they CAN... with immediate noticable Visible evidence, everywhere... One of the BEST posts here so far , has been the idea of NOT building, Just ONE F 35........in order to steer That funding, toward a much more beneficial result.. The well being of those who made it possible for the pontificators, politicians, CEOs and wall street Big Shots,,,, to carry on, as in the past, (seemingly turning a blind eye on those who have served, making THEIR way of life possible ) is of far greater importance than the stock value of McDonnel Douglas Lockheed MArtin... etc etc.... as for the pentagon?????? that over bloated bastian of spending and bureaucracy ... well THEIR "projection" of 136.2 suicides.... just goes to show how FAAAAR out of reality THEY are... Can someone tell me what Two tenths of a soldier is????... OH wait... i KNOW... it's equal to 100 % of most elected officials.. jmy

Never say "last (or final ) jump" say "most recent".... doesn't THAT sound better????
-
exactly my point... I sooo prefer to see ANyone who is gonna spend what it costs to buy a tandem, get to enjoy a spacious comfortable ride, in a Bigger plane, with lots more elbow room, ANd with the chance to share the trip to altitude with any others from their Own group... i KNOW that lots of places ONLy have a cessna, and that's how it goes.... But whuffos have NO idea of the real difference between a big plane and a not so big plane... between sitting on a bench or straddle seat, and sitting on the floor, between ten five and 13 Five...between 30 seconds in freefall and 50 seconds.. of course there is Nothing wrong with a tandem dz that only flies a 182... Lord knows, operating such a business take a HUGE effort... and good luck to ANyone who wants to open a dz....But sometimes such places simply don't compare to other long established DZs which offer ALL the disciplines of the sport, especially follow up training, and THEN other experienced folks, with whom to jump... just sayin'. jt

wow.... " 2 miles up ".... AND ..they have a cessna...... nice looking Log house...though...

colleges and universities have gone waaay overboard, with their arrogant tuition increases, idiotic salaries, compensation plans for "professors"...(most of whom are "one trick ponies" who generally Know Nothing!! or very little,,, about ANy subject or life issues,, OTHER than their OWn field of study ) and sense of "self-importance" ONE main reason tuition keeps climbing Everywhere... is because of the very LOAN programs... which are supposed to HELP students.. the colleges all figure... " what the hell, if these families are gonna borrow 5 grand a year... why not just have them borrow TEN grand a year"... or MORE !!! and Soooo they push their prices, in an unfair and unjustified way... And it's not only tuition... Ever check out the cost of room and board, at some colleges??? it's crazy. I could have sent my kids to live at a nearby Hilton Hotel, for less $$$$... VERY pleased to have gotten Both kids through their college degrees, one a bachelors, and ONE a MAsters... since the longer this goes on, the wilder the costs WILL become..... Should colleges NOT at least be expected to show SOME results...such as solid assistance in securing a decent JOB.... As the percentage of successful employment of graduates continues to drop.... so too should the "asking price"..for the "less than useful degree". A Hundred grand to Two hundred grand.... is an awful lot of coin... to simply see your kid walk across some stage.. that is generally a footbal field distance AWAY from where the parents sit..... The GOOD seats are taken by all the faculty, administrators, and phoney baloneys, who seem soooo prevalent at ANY college... It's a sin, and a damn shame... HAlf of them teach only a couple of courses a semester, have more time OFF than On,,,, and don't even get me started about paid sabbaticals and grant funding ... My son, who is dilligently paying off the last of his college loans asked me the other day,, " Hey Dad,?? why does my savings account only pay me " point 5 % " interest, while these damn loans are charging me SIX & a HALF % " ?????... i could not answer... Of every 88 dollars a month that he sends in,,,,only 52, gets applied to principal, 36 goes to INTEREST!!!!. WHAT the Hell is the deal with THAT!!!??????? just wonderin'......
