well Basically I LIKE it....only it seems like it could inadvertantly encourage a strung out exit... while there ALREADY is someone OUT There !!! on a High Hop & Pop....!!!!! it was very simple..... i was looking for an airplane ride. I was still a teen and had NEVER had the occasion to BE in a plane.... the college i was attending had a "skydiving " club and the airport was only 4 miles south of town. 50 dollars covered Jump # 1, a static line jump, all the gear , all the training, a certificate and a logbook i figured i would " take the ride and Then decide" i had such a great time looking out the windows.. I have NEVER had any problems with heights having been on a construction crew since i was 15 and working off scaffolding that OSHA would have Loved to see..!!! so i was fine being up off the ground... went ahead and exited,,(poised exit on a C 182 ) landing my 28 foot cheapo about 15 feet from the target..Within 2 weeks i had made my next 4 static lines ( 10 dollars each ) AND my first freefall ( 6 bucks ) i still enjoy the airplane ride(s) but More so, the skydive(s)...I had almost 200 airplane Take-offs before i EVER landed in a plane.....by the time i graduated college ( 1975 ) i had a Bachelor of Science degree AND 375 skydives !!! The college sponsered ( GAVE us the Money ) to attend the 1974 National Collegiate Parachuting Championships in DeLand Fla... They also let us take a student govt. Chevy Suburban.... to make the trip... i have been active in our sport, ever since.. Met MANY interesting and wonderful people ( and of course,,,,, a few ODDballs.....)... Glad that i started when i did... waaay before Tandem and/or AFF...it's been fun to witness the evolution of the sport, and of the gear.....up close and personal...

sometimes things at work slow down a bit this time of year and we can go to the local movie theater ( an 8-plex, 3 miles away ) for matinee shows...

Like Fitz? ??? Nope... no can do.. jumping is not on my calendar for the future. There are No rules which SAY...... that you HAVE to be jumping....... in order to meet up with some friends Last year it was in the upper 80s' and THAT sorta sunshine and temps..... MIGHT be Just what you need..... after 3 months in the Great N WEST... Plus it's a GREAT venue, and Julie & Spence do a super job, of Hosting..... jus' sayin' jmy

it's a damn shame when it comes to the point that the courts need to get involved....... a VERY good example of why it's WISE to have MORE than one Kid.... Then the crazy Parents ( of which there are MANY ) can "spread it around" a little... and NOT heap alll their weirdness onto One kid...... maybe the parents ought to "get a Life".. and leave their ADULT child, alone, to hers..... imho jmy

Ove 30 years ago and just let out on parole? Damn! I wonder what his sentence was. This happened about 8 or 9 miles from our Home... it occured around 5 or 6 in the morning, while it was still dark..On the morning of Christmas Eve, which just makes it that much more heinous..... Locally aired press conference, where the Chief of Police addressed the cameras and then fielded questions, yielded SOME further details... Yes. he was convicted of killing in 1981 ( manslaughter, i believe ) He served 17 years in NYS prison.... was released in 1998 onto "supervised parole". so 17 years "getting rehabilitated" Apparently the supervison ended in 2006... and so, He's been pretty much out there on his own since then. Reports say his Mom died this past October, and he lived with a sister apparently at the longtime family home... sisters wherabouts still undetermined Cops think he started a fire,,, in a car and in a Home, and then he stationed himself at a place with a good line to the area.. firing, when first responders arrived... The area went into immediate lock-down.. and the fire was NOT addressed because of it...Fire spread to 6 or 7 nearby homes....most heavily damaged. Shooter fled the immedaite area and was located some time later. self inflicted gunshot wound to the head...The damaged and charred homes are being inspected for possible further victims...including the sister W T F ??????

i NEVER made even ONE successful AFF level skydive..... never Botched one Up,,, either.... since AFF ( and tandem for that matter) came along waaay after i had become comfortable with the sport.. I'm a product of the static Line program...

this used to work for us. at our club where EVRYone learned via the static line method... ( i'm talking Decades ago...) increase exit altitude by 500 feet and suggest to the student, that they "resist that initial urge to PULL" Instead Finish what you started out, to DO. ..

.... to consider this approach, aimed toward School Security ? Choose a half Dozen Key Staff Persons. Train them in the proper and safe use of a medium level handgun. Then place identical models into discreet lock boxes at 4 or 5 key locations in the building. Have the boxes open to a 2 or 3 digit push button code. With training and practical rehearsals and an annual review of technique Maybe one of these people could squelch the attack, at it's start. Do NOT sell short the smiling secretary or the easy going and personable assistant principal or guidence counselor, just by virtue of her gender..!! Many such people have the heart of a Lion and the maternal protective instincts of a Grizzly Bear...Perhaps there are staff people who ALready HAVE some savvy with a gun. Damn !! if these staff people are gonna be Killed ANYWay, trying "to reason with a shooter" then what do we have to lose?? ANY Armed interloper who enter a school, or worse yet, Breaks INTO a school brandishing a weapon should be forced to face the same horror which THEY plan to excersize on innocents.. No warnings, No verbal commands... identify the target and shoot at the legs...(while taking cover, if possible) if there is return fire or anything but surrender, shoot at the torso... if necessary??.. well you can figure out the rest... Fact Is.. a HERO will be made..and an evil-doer will be Done !! the demise of which , most shooters seem to have ALREADY decided upon... it's about defense and saving lives... Doable???? Not doable?? Heck we have had Armed Air MArshalls on jets for over ten years now...( maybe even Longer ) Isn't it time that we start protecting our Kids?? AT Schools??? Are there better ways??? If we consider this sort of plan for Schools. then do we NEXT have to do it in Hospitals?? malls? theaters??? How could the training be done?? by Whom?? comments welcome

there was a time. 40 . 50 years ago. when kids were told Nothing....about "Grown Up issues".... that might have been a good approach... WHO says that children Under 10,NEED to "understand" and be weighed down with the heaviness of these certain things???? too many parents today take a misguided approach that their Kids are like "little adults", and so expect certain behaviors from them, and feel an idiotic compulsion to "keep them informed" about every last little issue...... Sometimes when Adults have problems with one another... the Kids find out. sometimes where there are Money Issues... the kids find out..Sometimes when there is adult wrong doing... FROM anyone in their circle of friends and family....The Kids Find Out!!!! and Yes... when tragedy strikes... even if it's half a world away, Some adults feel like it's their Duty... to "tell the kids" sheesh.... can't we insulate our kids from certain BAD things... can't we ALLow them to BE kids?? can't we SPARE them???? It seems like in this day and age of Instant EVERYthing...we cop out and take the stance.... " well they're gonna find out about it ANYway..."... Bullshit...Under the age of Ten...a child should be sheltered from certain issues.. Especially the ones that even "so-called" knowledgeable ADULTS struggle to understand... Should they ASK... then a limited and re-usable response might be... " all things in this world are Not good, and sometimes what IS good gets pushed aside by bad.." No. should Not be necessary. since it can easily be Mis-applied...or worse,,,selectively administered i'm one of 4 brothers all kids of the 50s,,, in fact we were all born within a 5 year span.. My Dad felt differently than the position which i hold... and He wielded authority By using corp. punishment...The Belt... ( Mom preffered the early version of Time Out.... sitting in a corner...) We OFTEN Ran OUT of corners!!!!Our sister was born a year after my last brother,,,, and She never EVER needed to be the one to be spanked..!!!See what i mean about "selective" ??hahaha It WAS effective,, and maybe even necessary in OUR situation.... We were a real handful,, VERY active,, VERY mischievious.....and somewhat hard-headed... But he Never over did it ... and it was never without just cause.. At school,, in those days the Sisters seemed to have "cart-blanche" in such matters,, and I learned real quick to steer clear of the Mean ones... I agree with The above statement...right down to the last sentence... ... i've often thought that If contact was made... in the form of intelligent (and hopefully Peaceful ) Life, arriving on Earth, we would be Gracious Hosts, as we "grasp the Enormity" of it All. I'd forsee a "UFO"touching down say, in Europe... amassing the media and TV news crews etc etc to announce, " we have Finally had it !!! with You people".. we've been monitoring you for 10,000 of Your years" "you're doing it ALL wrong".... and then, since tha naysayers WILL cast doubt on the arrival... the ETs would then announce... " we are leaving here ( Europe) now ,and will ARRIVE in what YOU call Sydney Aus. in FIVE of your minutes " have your media THERE to receive Us AND to verify, that we have accomplished thousands of miles of travel in such a short amount of (your interpretation ) time." and then they DO it..... Follow that Up with announcing, " we will Now head for NY City USA,,,,and will BE there in Five minutes." .... such travel SHOULD convince most, that they are NO Joke... It is said that the planet Earth is unlike the other planets about which we Know,,,, In that "it looks like a colorful marble, in the vastness of space". IF we can look out into the universe to identify other stars,,and in some cases other planets around those stars..... certainly WE should be Highly visible to anyone Else,, out there,,, Looking at Us....Sticking out like the Colorful beacon that we ARE... It would be History CHANGING,,,, if those Viewing Us HAVE the knowledge and ability to DO light speed travel........ Some of the "crazy" evidences put forth by "ancient aliens" proponents,,, are Not as Off- the -wall as they might sound... IF early hominids had been visited ANYTIME in the past 100,000 years, or so.... our relative lack of Understanding it AS it ocurred, could easily have resulted in Legends, Myths, Bible Stories etc....being created as Our only way to interpret and express such visits... It's possible that "Gods who came from the skies" WAS the way that previous cultures grasped what was happening then.... It could be fair to think that those visitors( or more likey THIER descendants ) STILL monitor us... either THAT,,, or they found life forms Waaay better than us elsewhere, have abandoned Us in favor of them,,,,and are leaving us to our own self induced anihilation........ imho
