  1. The existence of medical mistakes prior to the decision to delay treatment out of fear for the law doesn't change the fact that treatment was delayed out of fear for the law - which is exactly what the lawmakers wanted.
  2. I'm sorry, you think in 2016 the Dems were antagonistic towards Tesla? Who was fighting to take away their subsidies? Who says you can't? The Justice Department says they can, and that export control laws don;t say otherwise. Now, what are you saying here? That it is right and proper that the ruling party of government should curry favour with oligarchs by allowing them to ignore whatever laws they feel like, in the interest having the continued support of those oligarchs? Explain to me again how it is that you don't like the Dems because they are the party of the Elite?
  3. That's the lie that the Republican legal ploy is built on. The law is so deliberately vague, the legal apparatus of the State so publicly eager to prosecute, and the State Supreme Courts so unwilling to intervene that no-one really knows when they can intervene. If his niece has a scan that says the foetus has a condition that is absolutely guaranteed to cause its death along with significant danger to her if carried to term then she still can't do anything about it. This is a feature of the laws, not a bug. It is also not hypothetical, women have already pointlessly died. Women who wanted kids but needed an abortion are dead, for no reason. While mendacious Republican lawmakers point the finger at doctors and say 'hey it was their call, we never specifically said they had to do that' - which is also a feature they deliberately built in, not a bug.
  4. Elon Musk switched to Red because he hates trans people, couldn't deal with one of his kids being trans and disowning him, and blames the libs for that. Those are his words more or less exactly. Now, how likely is it that it's the libs fault his kid hates him enough to break contact? Musk has what, a hundred kids by eighty different women? Whatever it is - by normal standards a fuckton more of both than most people. And he still brags about sleeping at the office rather than spending a normal amount of time at home with family. It's pretty likely then that Musk is the ultimate absentee father to most or all of his kids, so relations were probably strained before he told the kid he couldn't accept his/her chosen identity. But since he couldn't possibly take personal responsibility for any of hat, he found his new home on the new right, where everything is always someone else's fault.
  5. Haven't heard that before, do you have examples? The implication here is also that Trump either spent nothing on homelessness first time around or that he also gave all the money to Dem donors. Why do you think it's going to be different this time?
  6. The Republican view that base698 has been tricked into believing is that the problem with homelessness can be solved by simply removing the homeless people they see in front of them right now. There's a fairly obvious flaw with that logic.
  7. Funny one that, isn't it? Didn't happen in Trump 1 (manufacturing hit a plateau well before covid at a lower level than it has reached under Biden), so why would it happen now? Related point, what will those jobs be worth? Boeing just lost an enormously costly fight against its own union which ended with a staggered 38% pay rise and other benefits, well after threatening that rejection of a previous 'final' 30% offer would result in a less generous offer and other retribution. The strike was brought on by highly skilled workers in an extremely specialised industry who weren't earning enough to be able to buy houses and support families. What side would Trump and Musk, who just got together and laughed about great it is to fire workers who ask for better pay, have taken in that dispute? So even if, somehow, magically, Trump and Musks government brings back a ton of manufacturing jobs for people instead of giving them to the robots - who will end up thinking that's a good thing if those jobs are poverty line jobs?
  8. Then why are you talking shit about jury decisions in 2023? You can't have it both ways.
  9. For someone who says the problem with the media is that they portray Trump as a fascist you're awful quick to accuse the Dems of behaving like a communist dictatorship. Ultimately, if the Dems were abusing the system the way you say they are, Trump wouldn't have won this election. You can't have it both ways.
  10. If there's any silver lining from the election it was the pure comedy value of Trump, on election day, starting to complain about rampant cheating in a state he ended up winning. Fuck them. They didn't lose anything because of Trump's lies, they lost because of their own lies. They should be ignored completely, throw all those cynical arseholes into Room 101 and throw away the key. The innocent people working in service of the nation whose lives they ruined are who we should be hearing more from. Ask Ruby Freeman if she'd rather have Rudy's millions or her old life back with no death threats - I think I know what she'd choose.
  11. So what are the chances that both wars they tell you are being fought are actually being fought and that the USA has any involvement whatsoever in either of them? After all, you only have the media’s word for any of it. You believe he is a pervert who spies on underage girls getting dressed and therefore you choose to disbelieve any suggestion that he’s a sexist?
  12. And that you don’t care, at all. What is it you think the most selfish man in the world is going to do with it?
  13. What does that have to do with a war you only think is being fought because the media tells you it is? Money you only think is being spent on it because the media tells you it is?

Ah, onto the next thing. Your media accusations turn out to be indefensible nonsense, but it makes no matter - you can always invent another reason to keep your narrative going.
  15. How could it be wrong when you have since clarified that it was indeed what you meant? You don’t say you care, but it was outweighed by other bigger concerns, you said you don’t care at all. But back to things you do care about - why are the wars on your list when you only know about them through the media? Why are you making decisions based on what the media has told you?
  16. So you’ll immediately disbelieve anything that the media reports on (when it suits you) but you’ll take at face value anything an AI tool designed by Silicon Valley elites says? Ok. Clearly you decided not to show it the entire discussion. You have explicitly clarified that it is the human suffering you don’t care about.

Since we knew he was a misogynist long before this election (y’know, all the rapeyness) why do you think the results can somehow cancel that out?
  18. You said it was true because he said it. You've given no other reason for thinking it was true other than that he said it. You accused someone of wearing a tinfoil hat for daring to think that the thing Putin said was not true. But that's nonsense. MAGA blocking Ukraine aid for months is not a liberal narrative - it really happened. Trump repeatedly saying he would end the war immediately and complaining that the US is aiding Ukraine too much is not a liberal narrative, it really happened. So again - it is pure projection for you to think that a liberal assumes that a thing Putin said is automatically untrue just because he said it. In this case, it was clearly not true because it is plainly obvious that Putin stands to benefit hugely from a Trump presidency. Yes, that's the point. Trump is not a liberal therefore he obviously wasn't talking about Trump (although I suppose one could argue that all western democracy looks like extremist liberalism to Putin... but as you'll see that makes no difference here). Since you deliberately did not provide a source when you first brought it up I'm not going to bother showing you where to find the speech, but I'll show you what he said. "And that’s what we see in the Western liberalism. It has degenerated into, I believe, extreme intolerance and aggression towards any alternative, towards any sovereign and independent thought. And today, it justifies neo-Nazism, terrorism, racism and even mass genocide of civilian population. In the end, that’s international conflicts and clashes that might bring about mutual destruction because the weapons capable of doing that already exist. And it’s constantly being improved. It acquires new forms as the technologies develop. And the club of the countries that possess such weapons is becoming wider. No one can guarantee that in case of avalanche-like increase in threats and final deterioration of legal and moral norms, it would not be used. I have already said that we’ve come to a dangerous line. And calls of the West to deliver strategic defeat to Russia, a country with the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons, shows extreme adventurism of the Western politicians. At least some of them. Such blind faith in their own impunity and exceptionalism might turn to a global tragedy." You. Plainly and obviously you. You know that. Oh dear, you've missed a really obvious point there. The election could be seen as a referendum on Ukraine if you assume the electorate knows Trump's policy and it's the only thing they cared about when casting their vote. This is, of course, nonsense.
  19. So two people and one place - but the media has you convinced it's a grave national problem. Why are you believeing the lying media? Why are you believing them when they tell you Trump will fix it when it is a state and municipal level issue? And I notice you didn't mention war. Why is war an issue for you when it's only the media and entrenched political establishment who are telling you that wars are happening? I'm stuck on you telling someone he deliberately misread your post when he was in fact directly responding to what you said.
  20. Goddamn if I had a buck for every time a rightwinger had said if we just cut this one more program or that other benefit then we'll finally have the money to take care of our homeless veterans! Fucking bullshit. The money is always there, just spend it if you want to. Oh wait, he doesn't want to. As you've so eloquently just explained in the other thread, Trump supporters don't have the energy to care about anyone but themselves.
  21. You are outright lying. The media didn't say Trump would take radical measures against immigrants, Trump said it. Further, your response to Joe was that he was being disingenuous to say you don't care about immigrants. That was a lie - you keep saying you don't care about immigrants. So what's your damn problem? BTW, the media covered covid and the effects of covid policy for years - but no-one trusts the media. So why do you care about covid policy? Since the media talked about it, it's obviously not true. And why do you care about homelessness? The media keeps talking about homelessness and no-one trusts the media, so that's not a real thing either. And war? The only things you know about the wars in Ukraine and Gaza come from the media. No-one trusts the media, so why do you care about what the media claims are foreign wars? Why are you letting the media drive your electoral priorities by blindly believing what they are telling you about the world?

If it went down linearly it'd be what, 38% during his trial? So you're sticking with that story, huh? No-one believes the media anymore except somehow several courts all independently lucked into getting juries who are slaves to the media and unable to think for themselves. One year ago the media was so powerful that poor little victim Donnie didn't stand a chance but this year the modern colossus that is Trump has proved that traditional media is a dead and buried irrelevance that no-one takes seriously? Every time you post you're proving more strongly how desperate you are to absolve yourself of the guilt you do feel after supporting a known rapist. Again, you don't have to listen to what the media says. Carroll's account has nothing to do with the media. What she says herself doesn't become any more or less credible because the media reports on it. Everything that happens gets reported in the news. That doesn't mean that nothing is true. Again, it's very obvious that you are simply using a flimsy excuse to ignore anything you don't like. But again, in 2023 they were so credible that Trump was found liable for rape and sexual assault just because the media said he was a bad man. There was just this one weird spike where everyone decided to give them a second chance that just so happened to coincide with the trial. Because yeah, of course it did. Makes perfect sense.
  23. So why are you accusing anyone of awful reading comprehension for taking that at face value? You said you don’t care, he shared his opinion of you not caring, you attacked him for falsely claiming you don’t care, and now have explicitly reiterated that you do in fact.., not care. So what’s your damn problem?

You just said that no one believes what the media said about the rape claims. You just said that no one believes anything the media says about anything anymore. Now you’re saying the only reason Trump was convicted is because everyone believes what the media says about him. Further are you seriously claiming that two juries found Trump liable for rape and sexual assault because they wanted to punish him for being too close to Putin? You’re seriously accusing those 24 ordinary people who gave up their time in service of justice of such an abject dereliction of duty? As I said, clearly you are grasping at straws to justify a position that you know deep down to be unjustifiable.
