I don't think the rigs should be unpacked... they should be jumped by the person packing them, with the openings on video of course. It ensures realism, safety, and the video allows for additional points for judging. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I'm a mustang, an American classic -- fast, strong, and bold. You're not snobby or pretentious, but you have what it takes to give anyone a run for their money. Which is so damn cool since my mid life crisis car will be a mustang convertable.

I'm not so sure that when we do something that is wrong, we know it. For example, I hit my husband one time. He said something stupid, I reacted by hitting him. We are talking less than a second reaction time, not enough of a moment to process anything mentally, just a total knee jerk reaction. At the second I hit him, there was absolutely no cognizance that it was wrong, I just lashed out the only way I knew how. Immediately afterwards, I was horrified and apologizing though. I still feel awful for it.... he forgave me, but I'll probably never forgive myself for that one. So based on your definition of sinning, did hitting my husband fall into that category or not? I saw it Friday, great movie. Could have been a little bit shorter, but still loved it. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

50 bucks a jump for coahcing?

Just keep in mind that what the student pays and what the coach get paid are not the same thing. If the cost is $80, the coach may only be making $15. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda -
I can't speak for packers at other DZs, but we encourage people to watch us pack, ask questions, etc. For newer jumpers with their own gear that are too hesitant or insecure to jump their own pack jobs, I flat out refuse their money after their last jump of the day and make them pack themselves with us there to watch or answer questions. It's nice to see someone become comfortable in their own packing and with their own gear. Even if it does mean a little less income for me. Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Do you have any prism correction on the glasses? Sounds like that could help significantly. One possibility is decompensating phoria. I would recommend a behavioral optometrist... one who does vision therapy, that's their specialty. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I was Star Darts... that was hell. My brother was Whack a Mole for 2 years (96-97). Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Is this a Cedar Point alum thread now? I worked there in 96. So did my kid brother. We both worked in games. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Paj, that was well written. I wish that more Christians actually believed and lived that way, according to the teachings of the Bible rather than the more evangelical trends lately. It would probably make relations between Christians and non-Christians somewhat less strained. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Naaah, you're not bad. Though it sounds like you feel a bit guilty about it yourself, or you wouldn't have posted the thread to begin with Your cousin needs to relocate off of a farm. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Do you see double vision as in to distinct images? Are they side by side or up and down? If you cover one eye, does it go away? How about if you cover the other eye? Have you had a corneal topography done (map of the cornea)? Any systemic health problems? (high blood pressure, diabetes, myesthenia gravis, MS, etc)? What drops were you given? Do you wear glasses/contacts? I can think of at least a dozen different things that are possibilities here, but need more information before trying to point you in a direction to go to get it narrowed down. It drives me nuts when people want me to kill some critter just because they are afraid of it. Their fear is not the critter's problem. I move the snake or bug or just walk away from it. Killing things just doesn't sit right with me, unless there's a damn good reason for it. You know, like a good steak dinner or something

I live near Lancaster, PA, so very large Amish community out here. But there are a lot of other groups (mennonite, German Baptist, etc) that dress in a similar manner, but are not Amish. Each is a different community with different beliefs, so without actually asking the person, it's often tough to know their individual cultural background. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Jess, you sure seem at home at our DZ My home DZ is the one that pays me to be there every weekend (packer). But I cheat on my home DZ during the week... it's 1.5 hr from my house. My concubine DZ is much smaller but 10 mins away and still a lot of fun. Even if they don't pay me to be there. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

We start holding hands lying side by side, wish each other 'goodnight' (which we did the very first time we met and basically every night after that), and I love you. He rolls over to sleep on his left side, I spoon him until we're both asleep. Usually roll over at some point but some body part is usually touching, and alternate between that and spoon all night. Unless we are staying at the trailer on weekends. If we don't spoon, someone has to sleep on the floor Exception is if one of us is pissed. Good night and I love you still happen, but then there's a ton of space between us all night. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I live near Dave DeWolf, so you can't spit without hitting a rigger at the local DZs. I've watched some of them pack, listened to them talk about their rigging philosophies, learned from, and watched them do repairs and inspections. I know what makes a rigger that I respect... caring, meticulousness, willingness to learn from other riggers and not 'their way is the only way' philosophy, willingness to teach with patience, willingness to let the owner of the rig watch the pack job, encouragement of non-riggers to know their own gear extremely well. I don't know if the above makes a person a good rigger or not, but the rigger who did my re-packs until I got my own rigger's ticket fits all of the above. (I consider myself a self-supervising packer, not a rigger at this point, not nearly enough experience, I have too much to learn from experienced riggers first!

I never had mine down due to scalping concerns. Just trying to detangle the wispy hair that escapes the front of my helmet is a bitch, I'd hate to have to try that on the rest of my head too!!!! Mine's either braided or ponytailed and stuffed under the helmet. Jen Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Be happy that your surgeon was one of the ethical docs who advised you regarding this rather than chopping your corneas anyway. It scares me how unethical a small handful of surgeons can be! I don't know if you went to one of the places that only does LASIK or if you saw a specialist who performs a variety of surgeries, but there is much more to life than LASIK ... LASIK is heavily advertised and people make a fortune doing it, that's the only reason it's the one that is well known. There is PRK, Intacs, implatable lenses, and several other refractive procedures that do not involve flaps (less corneal thickness required). There is also orthokeratology, molding the cornea with RGP contact lenses worn while you sleep, to have the same effect non-surgically. There are also some very good contact lenses that are approved to be slept in now and have better comfort than many previous contacts. Just because LASIK isn't an option doesn't mean you'll have to settle for walking into walls

Been wearing one since hitting 100 jumps and spending all summer as a packer. I get a lot of compliments on it, which of course leads to an explaination of what it is. Also got one person to take the FJC

It's no different than people in the medical profession smoking, and quite a number do. If people want to make a difference socially, they need to live what they preach. I don't understand how that makes a difference from a financial/fundraising stance though. A bit hypocritical (like the docs who smoke), but so what? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
