  1. I'm confused by this. If it's a question of rescuing skydivers from trees, then I can see why the Fire Department would be involved - and I don't see any great harm in them marking up their trucks accordingly. But why would they be involved in, or care about, fatalities or injuries?
  2. Clearly it's a possibility - but in the list of things that are likely to hurt or kill you in the sport, this must rank so low as to be not worth losing any sleep over. Also, unlike many of the other more pressing dangers there's just about nothing you could do to foresee or avoid it - so I would say, try not to think about it!
  3. Fixed it for you. Seriously, though - I think your perception of someone's appearance can change as you get to know them, and I don't just mean that you pick up on their 'inner beauty'. I've noticed it with both men and women.
  4. That's brilliant. If more of these groups had comedy acronyms, they'd be a lot less intimidating.
  5. If I had a smile like yours, I'd never put it away!
  6. You're not ugly. But your opening might be!
  7. Not my thread, so not my rules. But I guess you could nominate, so long as you know what the person actually looks like. For the rest, maybe we should try and guess what they look like from their posts?
  8. There might not be enough room in your window for all that. Better leave out the wife and son, I'm thinking.
  9. Yeah, I've been waiting for the flood of posts from other people, all claiming to be ugly, each with a flattering photo attached.
  10. Is this going to be an 'AmIHotOrNot?' thread?
  11. But your customers are non-restaurant workers, and they're the ones whose viewpoint you have to understand if you want to address this. Instead of just turning off the lights, why not have a sign that you put on the door saying 'Sorry, no new food orders tonight'? If anybody comes in after that and wants to order, you can direct them to the sign. I know as skydivers that we've been 'guilty' of this many times, especially in summer when jumping ends a little before the restaurants close in these sleepy English villages where dropzones are located
  12. I had a little play but couldn't produce anything better than the version Mr Wrong has already posted. Lightening it produces a lot of noise - which I think is unavoidable with a picture that's so dark to begin with - and using plugins to reduce the noise just blurs the whole thing. I like the original the way it is though. Did you actually think it would look better lighter, or is there something you wanted to see for reference?
  13. Got my copy yesterday evening. Since it was a 'school night' I wasn't able to play for very long, but so far I'm really impressed. They've improved the graphics, which I'd hardly have thought possible on the current hardware - there are an incredible number of characters on screen at once. The controversial airport level early in the campaign was an odd experience - it was kind of uncomfortable, and I found myself deliberately aiming wide of the civilians (although I did end up having to brutally murder a lot of policemen!) It's interesting that people are suggesting it's immoral to take part in a fantasy terrorist action, but ok to spend hours blowing away hundreds of fantasy 'bad guys'. The only things I'm not sure about so far are: - The voice acting, which I don't think has been up to par with COD4. - The feel of the multiplayer mode, which seems more 'arcadey' than previous versions. - The more futuristic stuff, like heartbeat monitors on the weapons. Although I don't expect a fully realistic experience, I hope things don't get too sci-fi. I had a very quick go on Xbox Live and had no problems quickly getting into a game. I do also play quite a lot of COD4 and World at War online, but Xbox only. I do agree with the consensus that Infinity Ward are the better developer though. There's just something classier about the ones that they've produced. World at War looked great, but I thought the enemy AI was iffy.
  14. Wha'? Now don't be making me look all ignorant. I'm just quoting other people's posts while having a pop at Wal-Mart.
  15. +1 I can't stand jumpers that believe skydiving makes them a superior human being. Take a step down off your high horse. I suspect you're taking the original post a bit too seriously - reads as tongue in cheek to me. At least I hope it is! But I would like to ask the original poster - if you get the upper range values in your poll to make sense, is that a sign of above average IQ?
  16. Maybe their passenger was the handicapped person. Maybe they were handicapped by a lack of taste.

    blister in mouth

And here I was just wondering what to have for lunch.
  18. Sounds encouraging! I know next to nothing about the movie but from the adverts I didn't feel inspired to see it. Maybe I will now. I remember reading 'Communion' when it came out and being really spooked by that (I've never seen the subsequent film). Thing was, I'd never heard of the author and took it at face value. When I recommended it to someone else and told them who'd written it he said: what, Whitley Strieber the horror writer? The discovery that it was probably pure fiction really spoiled it for me.
  19. This isn't the droid you're looking for... Move along. Move along.
  20. And when the live animals run out, it'll be the Christians. Alhtough maybe they'll only do that in the Rome zoo.
  21. Opened this thread thinking Motorola might actually be selling a droid. But turns out, it's just yet another phone.
  22. You don't need a licence to own a TV set, only to watch it. Just renewed mine. Yeah, it's £142.50, and worth every penny. Bwaahhahhhhaaahaa! There are concessions, though - I think if you can prove you're both blind and deaf then they discount it by 50p or something. And if you have a black and white set then it's £48. I wonder when was the last time they sold a black and white licence! Don't know why we ever believed that stuff about detector vans everywhere - they would have been prohibitively expensive, surely. I think their assumption now is that it's so unusual for someone not to have a TV that any unlicensed address is suspect. That about sums up the 'Big Brother' tone of their advertising!
  23. Yeah, just what the world needs - another show like that. Still, I guess if it did take off it might really work for him in the way that, say, '24' did for Keifer Sutherland. I guess Slater is already a bigger movie star than Sutherland ever was, but he's never quite made it to 'name above the title' status.
  24. I don't believe you've been to my dropzone.
