Hi Kim - I voted for your photo cos it's clearly the best - none of the others come close.

"Implants! Those aren't your memories. They're somebody else's." Bam! You were quick with that one.

"The egg hatched... and a hundred baby spiders came out... and they ate her."

I'm not in Eloy. But next time you come over to London, can I put in an order for brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace, and a cuckoo clock?

I'd hope the only people who didn't realise that were either a) square at the time or b) not born yet! Agreed - I've heard The Eagles criticised by a lot of people because they were open about wanting to be commercial and successful - again, the myth of the 'sell out'. The reality is that just about every artist wants to write records that sell, and that in turn sell gig tickets. Being a musician, like being an actor, is more of a career (and less of a calling) than people like to imagine, I think.

Hm. For once I'm glad I can't access YouTube at work - I've got a very low tolerance for Jamiroquai - but each to their own. Since we're on the subject of disco, I was watching a TV show the other night about the history of Blondie. It was talking about what a strong reaction there was against disco music back in the day - people holding rallies and burning records and stuff! And how Blondie's old CBGB pals like The Ramones criticised them for losing their 'integrity' when they really hit the big time with Heart of Glass. Funny how precious people get about music, isn't it? I try not to be a snob about it any more - whatever makes you move or gets an emotional reaction is good for you. Anyway, here's Heart of Glass from way back in 1979. That's classic disco for me - plus, I could just stare at Debbie Harry's mouth for ever... I hope that link's correct - I'm doing this blind!

This is what lofts are for. That's 'loft' as in a big empty space under the roof of your house, rather than an apartment that you actually live in. Having a loft means you get to keep all your stuff but you don't have to look at it.

I used to like the sign at my DZ: "Smokers: when the floor is full, please use the litter bins provided." Honestly, cigarette butts don't bother me as much as most litter. But I do object when someone smoking near me just throws his or her butt down and walks off without even bothering to extinguish it. It's like, you're not even smoking it now, and still I have to put up with it?

What next, a Cypres ad showing someone surfing dodgy websites?

No, they wake me up.

Oh, I dunno. I'm not that interested in the canopy piloting scores, but I did need a laugh.

Apostrophes are a pain in the bum Queens English is what they speak on the east side of New York.

Hi, Jeannie. Did you get my PM? The answer is yes, of course!

That's beautiful work. You do this for a living?

Have you ever been injured during sex or masturbation?
MikeJD replied to iluvtofly's topic in The Bonfire
Oh, yeah. It's almost impossible to do it with a cat in the room. Most dangerous is if your toes are just sticking out from the end of the bed - combine that with a little rhythmic movement and - yoooww! -
Pretty funny. I actually have a bit of a soft spot for 'Drop Zone'. Sure, it's often terrible but taken as a whole it's pretty entertaining. I thought these guys could have given Snipes a bit more credit, too. He does a great job with poor material - he's likeable and funny.

Really liked Serenity (the movie). People tell me that it still wasn't as good as Firefly (the series), but I haven't seen Firefly.

Why are Mains BIGGER than RES ????

Or .... You could lose weight Haven't you seen me around? If I lose weight, there'll be nothing left of me! -
But you are 'tri'.

Why are Mains BIGGER than RES ????
MikeJD replied to shaz_nz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've had the same reserve canopy for quite a few years (a 115). During that time I've downsized my main from 135, through 120, to 107. So finally, my reserve is bigger than my main! Truth be told, my reserve is a little on the small side so now PD have introduced the Optimum (bigger canopy for the same pack volume) I'm looking to upsize. -
Welcome! There's nothing quite like the heady days of your first few jumps. Mine were nearly two decades ago, but I can still vividly remember that feeling of excitement and adventure. It's a whole new world you're opening up for yourself. Enjoy!

I don't feel qualified to comment on his hotness, but as a movie star I'm afraid he's going to stay determinedly B-list for his whole career. I kind of think of him as existing in Matt Damon's shadow. That's probably a whole other thread - whether Damon is hot, or it's just his roles that make him so.

Keyboards, guitar and bass. All pretty badly, but well enough to get the results into a computer and make it sound like I know what I'm doing. And I can pretty much sing in tune, but without much power. I write and record quite a lot of music, but I couldn't play you a single song all the way through. One day I will brush up on my skills and become a virtuoso at something or other. Or not. I played the violin in a regional orchestra when I was a kid, but I find that hard to believe now. I suspect there might have been a bit of miming involved.

Not sure if these qualify as RAAAWK, but I like: 'Mis-shapes, mistakes, misfits, raised on a diet of broken biscuits' (Pulp, Mis-shapes) 'She's filing her nails while they're dragging the lake' (Elvis Costello, Watching the Detectives).

At least it reads right for drunk drivers - and that's where the biggest danger lies, isn't it? "Interim paint" - that's brilliant. Whenever I say something stupid from now on, I'm going to claim it was my "interim response".
