  7. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6757527.stm Is America going legislation-mad? Or should fashion crimes really be handled by the police? I'll admit I don't personally like having to get an eyeful of someone's grotty crack when they bend down; but to me they're only making fools out of themselves. I'd far rather see lawmakers making good use of their time by cooperating with local and national police to fight real crime. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

  10. http://www.forensic.gov.uk/forensic_t/inside/about/docs/NDNAD_AR_3_4.pdf Perhaps you'd like to note page 20, where it covers removal. Specifically, that since the Police Act 2001, DNA data remains on the database until death. It specifically mentions how this is *different* to Scotland, where individuals have the right to removal in the case of no charges being brought/dropped etc. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  11. Or maybe, just maybe, muslim women have undergone centuries of systematic abuse, declaiming them of rights, lesser than men. You may ask how this can happen in the UK, even if you accept it in Asian countries, but the fact is the majority of the UK muslim population is highly segregated. Several (I'd like to say many, but I can't back this up with figures at the mo - suffice to say, a lot) actually state they do not follow UK law at all, are not bound by it, but purely by Sharia law. If you don't believe me, look at the appaling act of female circumcision. A horiffic genital mutilation commonly practiced in muslim society - shown to reduce or prevent sexual pleasure. This happens when they are children! If you still think this is something they want, tell me, how come no adult muslim you ask who has avoided it in childhood, will willingly go and have it done? As someone said once (I can't recall who), the only solution to muslim aggression and oppression worldwide is for an uprising of the women. I can't see this happening, whilst the men still hold control over a culture that believes in mercy killings, voilence, sexual subservience and degredation of women. Take a look at the recent UK news - a muslim family (father, I believe) arrested for murdering her daughter. Why? Their daughter left her arranged marriage, fell in love with a non-muslim of whom her parents didn't approve. So, after a family meeting, they murder her in cold blood, and bury her in a suitcase in the garden. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are plenty of lovely moderate muslims in this country; but you cannot tell me Islam preaches theistic tolerance! Perhaps they don't get a choice in wearing their hajob? 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  12. It's sickening. I've written to my MP on several occasions, but of course, he can do nothing :) It's definitely become a police state. The scary thing is how the vast majority of british citizens adopt the line of 'If you've got nothing to hide, it doesnt matter'. Surely that completely undermines any civil liberties our forefathers have worked for many hundreds of years to build? Here's a nice example; we have a national DNA database, as mentioned. If you're ever arrested, you automatically have to give DNA samples, fingerprints and other biometric data which is stored. However, even if you are found innocent, charges are dropped etc, it's [pretty much] impossible to have your data removed from the register. The official gov't policy is to hold it for 100 years. So, you could be arrested mistakenly over someone elses civil breach, released within 30 minutes, but you're still logged for life. I want to emmigrate. I have virtually no respect for my country any more (although I do have respect for most of my fellow citizens). Sickening. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

  14. Heheh, very good :) A nun gets on a bus and sits behind the driver. She says to the bus driver she needs someone to talk to. She lives in a convent and wants to experience sex before she dies. The bus driver agrees but the nun explains she can't have sex with a married man because it would be a sin. The bus driver says no problem, he's not married.. The nun says she also has to die a virgin, so she has to take it in the ass. The bus driver agrees again and being the only two people on the bus they go in the back and take care of business. When they were done and he had resumed driving the bus driver said, Sister, I have a confession to make, I'm married and have three kid's." The nun replied, "That's O.K. I have a confession too. My name is Bruce and I'm on my way to a costume party. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

  17. Life could have evolved elsewhere - it probably has (going along the lines of an infinite universe). We're not special, it's just that in order to be asking these questions we must have been one of the lucky ones. Our planet could quite easily have (as you say) been a few 10s of thousands of miles outside our current orbit and no life would exist. Perhaps we'd then be on another planet, in a different galaxy, asking ourselves the same question about life elsewhere? 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  18. You could do a western union wire transfer, but they're kinda associated with nigerian scammers now so he may not want to. If you have a standard bank account, you can ask your bank for your IBAN (international bank account number) and BIC code (branch? bank? identifier code), which means he could do a standard bank transfer to you - probably a lot safer. He'll probably get charged something for it though. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

  21. Totally agree with all that - the point I was making is that these are improvements that can be applied to a standard ICE design. If we take a fixed state and simply apply 'powerplant' technologies to it, the stats required to make it do various things should remain the same. I'll be honest, I didn't realise ICE was quite so ineffient (20-30%), so to some extent I must take back some aspects of my comment. However, what I was trying to get at more than a pure hybrid->ICE comparison, is that people fail to take into account the equivalent of a carbon TCO; it isn't all about what your car is doing in the here and now, but all the other factors involved in manufacturing, dismantling, etc. I stand corrected though, otherwise ;) 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  22. I don't know if this has been mentioned as I haven't read the whole thread As I understand it, if car X takes a certain amount of energy (taken down to it's simplest level, eg. joules) to make it move, to accelerate to a certain point and so forth, that is an unmovable fact of the design. Just because you make it a hybrid and partially shift the generation of energy from the ICE to your friendly local power plant, it doesn't mean it's using any less energy. All you're doing is shifting the emissions from one place to another. Of course, there are improvements in design associated with hybrid cars, but these aren't as amazing as people think; apply similar technology to standard ICE car designs and you'd see a reduction in emissions with those also. It isn't just about what you're using in the here and now; our battery technology is still relatively immature and inefficient. Once one wears out, you then have the impact created through disposal. Not to mention the materials and energy involved in producing a far more complex system to start with. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see innovation, but it's worrying to see people suddenly jump on any new "greener" technology like a fad and claim it's the cure for all life's ills. 23. Tell me, where do you get this insight into God's 'nature'? Have you met and discussed his tendencies over a coffee? '[Insert disagreed point here] but only in accordance with his nature' is a lovely catch-all. You state that God is both omnipotent and omniscient, yet how can he (knowing all) know every action he will ever take? If this is so, he cannot be omnipotent - he'd be unable to change his actions. You simply cannot state that we 'can't outrun a cheetah due to our nature'. My nature is to be inquisitive. I can consciously decide not to inquire as the mood takes me; this is my privilege. Our inability to outrun a cheetah isn't linked to our nature, but our physical limitations. (Hence why with training you can learn and work towards running faster than the average man - if this was an immovable fact of life, if someone's nature was set in stone, we'd never be able to increase our tolerances and physical abilities). If you want to bring that parallel, are you stating that God must have physical limitations? How can a God with limitations be a true God? 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  24. Tell me, is God omniscient? That is to say, does God perceive all things? Does He have unlimited knowledge, awareness etc? Is God omnipotent? (Is He all-powerful)? 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
