Its hard to find somebody who cares enough to take the time always to do the right thing. Its the same reason in a mens' bathroom the urinals have piss on the floor. Guys will miss from time to time and most of them really are not going to think about it after they are out of the bathroom. The fact that its dirtier than it was before they came in is not something that they will be concerned about. Comparing cigarette related deaths and alcohol is bolony. 450,000 people a year in the U.S. die from cancer (mostly lung cancer due to cigarettes). Alcohol related deaths are about 150,000 and even if you threw all the auto-related deaths it would still be under 200,000. If you added the a great portion of people dying of heart disease to the cigarette related death then that number becomes outrageously high. I believe heart disease is about 750,000 yearly. Bottomline is cigarettes kill so what is my answer? {Does anybody have a light for me, I forgot my lighter?} Oh but I forgot the most important thing of all smoking is fine and cool so long as you do NOT and I repeat DO NOT EVER EVER EVER come within 20 feet of my canopy with a lit cigarette. I can land my canopy loaded at 4.1 straight in to a perfect shutdown, not having to take any steps(with slippery terrain) without any extra speed inputs. A sinking landing on the other hand is a different story. The more I have to sink the harder the landing will be (as is with any canopy only more pronounced). Just think if this was not the case then students would be told to go into deep brakes at 100 feet and hold it there all the way down. But that is not the case because the landing will be harder, always. As for landing out. The last time I landed out was about 250 jumps ago. I was on a 12-way with people jumping canopies double the size of mine on the average. They were of course were spotting for themselves and not for me. But landing out was certainly nothing to cry about and I had no problem with it whatsoever. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. I dont use a pullout but this flexibility issue you bring up doesnt seem to make sense to me. I am a bodybuilder. I have 20" biceps and the rest of my upper body is well in proportion with this. With all that, I have no problem at all reaching anything from my ass to the bottom of my right shoulder blade with my right hand. Where is this pud located that you cant reach it easily? -------------------------------------- 20" biceps are pretty huge considering that Jay Cutler is about 22.5 and weighs 260 pounds at 5'9". My highest with my biceps has been just barely over 17". But anyway just to answer your question. The angle from which you have to present your hand is what we are talking about. You obviously could not present your hand from the same angle just below your shoulder as you could just above your waist. I think if you tried on a small rig you would quickly understand. I like it and I intend to stay with it but its not quite that simple. Reasons I like it. 1. My pilot chute will never tow. Wellll... probably never. Since I can reach back and force my d-bag out and it will probably open after that even without an inflated pilot chute. {done this} 2. Its cool and less people will ask to borrow your equipment because many will freak out at the thought of something different. 3. Its obviously less likely to have a premature release. Reasons I don't like it. 1. It sticks out less and you need to get a tighter gip on the pudd to pitch. This can get to be a pain when you have a small / short container that is riding high up on your back and you are constantly loosing flexibility on your arms from working out. I'm with Dave here. I too have large hands. ----------------------------------------- I have to disagree and point out that I have never met anybody who is under 6'4" (1.93 meter) and also has hands bigger than me. That being said, I have no problem what-so-ever with my glock 30 (high capacity compact .45). If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. And relax your upper body.. Be the willow - not the oak. You'll get fewer bruises and much faster follow up shots. What do you load her with? ------------------------------------- The truth is I really don't know very much about it. My brother-in-law, who knows a little bit more about that stuff was the one who recomend I buy that one. When it comes to shooting I suck at it. I remember the first time I shot it after 25 shots I had blood oozing down my shoulder and then the freakin idiots tells me, (oh you need to hold the base snug against your shoulder or else it will hit you every time). Since then the best I ever did was was 17 out 25 in the beginner and 6 out of 25 trap. But hey the important thing is I am a true supporter of the second amendment and if somebody breaks into my house I guarantee I will not miss them with a single shot on my 870 (Rita). Sara I am not so sure about but she is oh so much fun to fire. I think I need to shoot another thousand or so rounds to get current again. I haven't shot in like 2 months. What no one likes Golf? ---------------------------------- Golf is what I like to refer to as an exclusive game. It about as much fun as billiards. Well not quite, not for me at least. In any case they charge and arm and a leg to play it and I hardly think its worth it. I understand that the reason for that is not to have a pretty green lawn but to keep rich people together in a place that lower income people can not afford to go to. Ok thats kewl for the most part. There is however one thing I don't like about that. That is that all too often important business decisions are made on golf courses and people like me who have no desire to go and throw a serious amount of money down the drain there are left out of those decisions. I propose that from now on, casual business conversations take place on an Otter on the way to altitude rather than a golf course. There is positively no doubt in my mind that my 55 has a longer recovery arc than my 62 and my 62 than my 70. We all know the lines get shorter as the canopy gets smaller. That being said we also know there are other factors involved. But to add to my theory I recall on one of John Leblanc articles he wrote that two jumpers of different weights with the same wingloadings would have canopies that flew differently due to line length. If I recall correctly he said the smaller one would dive longer. If I had more jumps on a velocity the same size as an FX then I would be able to say this for certain, since I know that PD has noticeably longer line lengths on their 21 chamber crossbraced canopy (velocity) than Icarus' (the FX).
