  1. I'm not worried with the look so much as I'm worried about moving that bar with the 45lbs plates on it. For me its a battle in the gym, I have that bar and I have to press it, curl it, move it. When I pick up the bar for shrugs and it weighs nearly 400lbs, the bar bends and flexes, with deadlifts going over 400lbs, the bar bends and flexes. I have to move that weight, I can't let it conquor me. When I'm on that flat bench and looking up at over 300lbs, that bar HAS to move, I HAVE to get atleast 6 reps or I'm a failure. Its that simple. The fact that big arms, wide back and a large chest come along with that is just a cool bonus, but it starts with the battle between me and the bar. You bring up the 64K dollar question. What is better to be strong or to look strong? For me the answer has changed. 10 years ago my answer was hands down to be strong and how I looked meant nothing at. If anything I thought of bulking up as a negative thing. I remember one time I was working out with someone in college and he said something along the lines of, "you come to the gym because you want to burn out because you want to look great at the beach right, I mean you don't do it for the numbers". I remember this specifically because what crossed my mind right then and there was, "no I do do it for the numbers. I want that 400 pound bench max." Now however, I am not sure where I stand. I am definately not in line with the powerlifters. I like the thought of moving a lot of weight, but absoloutely am not willing to give up my washboard abs for more strength. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  2. I think I have outdone myself with this latest creation. A couple of weeks ago I had some cornbread at a restaurant and thought, wow I really like cornbread. Then I got some mix and my girlfreind made some for me and yeah it tasted good but there was nothing healthy about it.. It had a quarter cup of sugar preadded to the mix. It called for adding and egg including the yolk, margarine, buttermilk and salt. I knew I could make this healthy so I went to the supermarket and bought some cornmeal and wheat flour and made my own mix with no margarine, no sugar, no salt, 3 egg whites instead of 1 whole egg, skim milk instead of buttermilk and wheat flour instead of white flour. Well I love the way this stuff came out. I think I am going to make me some more when I get home. Only this time I think I am going to add 6 egg whites instead. Oh yeah! - If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  3. actually Frank Zane is / (was in 1978) very close to what is considered the Grecian Ideal. His arms and legs were slightly larger but I think they looked better that way anyway. The Grecian ideal proportions come from the Greek Statues. See when these statues were first sculpted nobody came even close to those measurements. That is the reason for the top bodybuilding title being call Mr. Olympia, for Mount Olympus. Anyway the statues were made to display perfection. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. 4. One thing that is great about Charles Atlas is that he was from a time of no steroids. But when I think of who inspires me and who I want to look like for me its Frank Zane. I don't know if he did or didn't use drugs. But I do believe I can accomplish his numbers without. {or so I hope, but only time will tell} If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  5. Whats even sadder is that this was not at some big name gym. It was at a private company gym. Nortel has a gym just for Nortel employees. The problem is quite out of control. I read an article on-line some time ago that predicted it would continue to get worse until an IFBB competitor just dies on stage out in the open. They said it has already happened backstage warming up. But they have covered it up to avoid the negative publicity because there is too much money involved in the sponsorships and all. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  6. Yes I would liked to have lived in a time when the great men, Eugen Sandow, Louis Cyr, Arthur Saxon, etc. got the way they were through hard work and not chemical enhancements. So what brought this on? Well yesterday I was at the gym and suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I notice that some guy sets up 225 to bench. Its not a lot but its more than most people play with. So I am curious and I look to see how many times he does it. He does it 12 times. Now I am thinking this guy is stronger than most here. But its ok, I did it for 14 the day before. Now he wants to go heavier and he sets up 315. I am thinking no big deal, he probably just wants to max out or something like that. Then he asks me for a spot. I give him a lift off and he throws out a set of 8 reps WITH 315. Now its all clear this guy is not only stronger than me, he is probably stonger than I will ever be. So now I feel like shit wondering whats wrong with me, but wait this will be answered very quickly. We get to talking and he asks if I am taking any "supplements". I am thinking he is talking about Creatine or Whey or something along those lines and so thinking I am the nutrition expert I ask what he is planning on taking. (so that I can explain how by simply changing his diet he can do more than with supplements). Then he says, "oh I have been taking andros and they really work." Well like DUH!, ofcourse they work, those are not supplements their freakin steroids. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. 7. What makes you think that? Oh I don't know. Maybe its just that everywhere they read it somehow Terrorism is happening. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  8. WOW!!!, You have gone off the deep end here. What kind of Spaniard are you? The only explanation would be if you were really a Gitano, meaning meaning a Muslim from Morroco. I will say that you made one or two good points about the validity of using the bible in an arguement and then citing Leviticus which is pretty radical and all. But your ranting between "Just for the record" & "multiply wine" displayed your total lack of knowledge on the subject matter. Referring to bible as "a piece of bull shit" is unnecessarilly, extremely offensive to all the Christian and Jewish people of the world. I don't even think you should even use those words for the Koran and that is a recipe for terrorism. By the way Israel is mentioned in the bible, Palestine is not. Jesus is factually a historical figure. The year is 2004. What do you think that means? Do you think its an arbitrary number? It freaks me out to think that anyone from the civilized world would question the existance of Jesus. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  9. So why is the magic number 2? Why not 1 or 3? Surely there are other parties out there that aren't any more extremist than your descritpion of the democratic party. And if we're so evolved and so good at compromise, why are we in the midst of the most polarized political climate of my lifetime? Actually I remember when I was still in college taking a class called math models in which I remember they found in some experiment that over and over again it was better to have two co-workers that disliked each other than three. Strangely they found that four was also better then three. Its obvious the one party would not work since there would be no choice. The reason for our very polarized political climate is because the left had control of Congress for fourty years and it wasn't till 94 that they lost it. Since then they have been busy making buffons of themselves trying everything to regain it. To top it off they lost the Executive office in 2000. Since then they have been filubustering to avoid loosing appointed positions. They have lost the knowledge of how to run a campaign honestly because with the help of the liberal media they didn't have to for 40 years. However since the honeymoon is over they will continue to loose elected offices until they start to follow the lead of the decent ones like Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman. Once their roller-coaster stops going full speed downward the ones left will debate is a civilized manner and the polarization will get back to normal levels. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  10. You know you have a point. Um it brings up the age old question what came first the chicken or the egg. Or that picture of the ugly witches I remember from a psychology book. "They hate us because we are ugly because they hate us." I am sorry I don't have an answer for that one I will have to think about it. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  11. have your been there? I have, I have been to Germany, France, Holland, Austria, Hungary, Czec Republic, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, basically everywhere in the mainland except for Luxemburg and Belgium and wishing to live in the U.S. is a recurring theme. I know this is quite painful for the blame America first group (typical Kerry supporters) but it is a reality. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  12. that was 100 years ago when all my ancestors were there. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  13. I am sorry but that is the truth. The country that most people of the world wish they could come to is the U.S.. Why? because we are better. The European Union was established to try to mirror the U.S. The Euro was set at the starting value of 1 Euro per $. Why to both because we are better. I am sorry if it offends you but I have travel around the world and have respect for other cultures but if the question is placed. Flat out there is no question about it, we are better and I am sure that one specific reason for that is that we have a two party system which helps maintain a more stable socieity. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  14. The reason is because we are better at finding common ground than the rest of the world. We are more evolved and understand that everything can't simply be about me me me. See if you care about nothing other than the environment and you want all the laws to center around protecting it and screwing everybody else then you can vote for the Green party. But since most people don't subscribe to that its not going to get very far. Way back is 1891 the populist party was established which favored farmers. It was great for farmers and back then since there were more farmers, they stood a chance in hell of getting elected. Obviously they didn't last for long. The reality is that having more and more political parties serves only to make a country politically unstable. Inorder to have a more stable nation one must compromise inorder to have the best possible choice {not the perfect one, that doesn't exist}. In our (U.S.) system if a third party candidate starts pushing a specific issue enough and people like it, it will end up on the agenda of the Dem or the Republican ticket. There are things I don't like about the Republican agendas. I support animal rights and I can't stand how Puritanical American television is compared to the rest of the world. But to me this is not nearly as important as keeping a wacko liberal like Kerry from endangering our national security by bowing to the U.N., rolling back tax cuts to put his Socialist touch in our economy through class envy, rolling back the partial birth abortion ban, infringing on the gun rights of law biding citizens, letting liberal judges do as they wish making a mockery of the insitution of marriage despite of the fact that even in the most liberal state of Taxachussets most people still oppose gay marriage, I can go on but I need to get back to work. Still I think the point of how sick the thought of a Kerry administration makes me is quite clear. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  15. You would have to define "True Majority". The problem is that "Mikes" votes could go either way...But they still would not be counted, and they might give either canidate the push needed. Plus it would delay the election a good bit. Another solution would be allowing each person two votes... A primary vote, and a secondary. However each plan has issues, and goes against the idea of one man, one vote. A better option is to have the third parties really put up a good canidate. Say McCain/Lieberman or some other ticket that would have a chance as opposed to the ones that have been running. Ron, Anvil please don't fall for this crap. When Theodore Roosevelt screwed William Howard Taft, {giving the election to Woodrow Wilson} no liberal was ready to jump up and change our system. As it is, it wasn't till decades later that they would even admit that Woodrow Wilson would not stand a chance in hell of defeating Taft had it not been for TR's infamous "Bull-Mouse Party". Still to this day they deny that Ross Perot got Clinton elected in 92. Now all of the sudden Ralph Nader starts making them feel some of the pain and they want to reform our entire system. No freakin way! If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  16. The reality is that you can agree on this because there is not an official party stand on it. Just remember 6 years back when Clinton took a stand on Iraq not allowing weapons inspections. There was international outrage. I remember I was living in Germany at the time and saw proganda coming from Spain with protesters holding signs up that said American Imperialism from 1898-1998. Still at that time you did not hear the outraged Democrats / liberals suggesting that Clinton was lying, that there were no WMD's or that Iraq was not an imminent threat. They shut up because it was their own party that was acting. Conservatives shut up because they care more for the good of the country than simply getting elected. Now we have the DEMS saying anything and everything they can possibly come up with to undermine the war in hopes to regain the white house. They don't care if people get beheaded because of so many front page stories of Abu Ghraib, they don't care about large scale attacks on American soil (9/11), they don't care about the 100's of planned attacks that have been stopped by our improved National security (Improved by Bush). No, the only thing that matters to them is how they can spin the facts and outright lie if necessary to get a Democrat elected. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. 17. Those are two walls that were built for opposite reasons. Its almost funny that you would even mention it. The Berlin wall was built by the left (socialists) to keep their OWN people from escaping to a better system {you know more capitalist, right wing oriented}. This wall they are referring to here is a wall to keep the enemy out, to keep terrorist from causing havoc. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  18. Wow, this is a low point for Kennedy... it's just a comic, broh' Just because you disagree doesn't mean that you should insult someone. Ok, he may have taken an aggressive tone but his point is quite clear. The reality is that no media outlet would come even close to this. Actually except for talk radio and fox news most media outlets would do the exact opposite. Comedy needs to rooted is some form of truth that is exagerated to prove a point. This is such a ridiculous mis representation of reality in every front that its not comedy. Its simply stupid. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  19. Your missing quite a few there Perhaps you should use an etc ..., or you can just say any true Christians that are not Catholic are Protestants. After all Saint Peter the first Pope and was one of the twelve apostles. So historically and factually speaking, the Catholic religion was the first Christian religion. All the others who are truly Christian protested the Catholic religion at one point or another and broke away making their own religion. Hence they are called Protestants. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  20. because the Clinton News Network (CNN) is desparate and looking for anyway the can attack prominent republicans. So the will take something like this and try to spin the facts. In any case I applaud Chenney for putting Leahy in his place. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. 21. Yeah, Bachelours in Math. Parents payed for it as well as for my three sisters college and grad school. Father is a physician, those damn evil right wingers. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  22. I wish this was handed out at Abu Ghraid. However, I don't think it would have done any good. Unfortunately it probably going to require that a few more buildings get blown up and a lot more innocent people get beheaded before liberals like yourself remain quiet long enough for the problem to be solved. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  23. I like this. Awesome post. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
  24. Case in point--juvenile name-calling He wasn't name calling. He even said that he doesn't hate them just their ideals. The reality is that Dems have socialist ideals. My parents escaped a Socialist/communist country and my X-wife grew up in the former Soviet Union. I can't begin to count how many times they told me stories about the evil/Socialist/Communist/left wing/or whatever you want to call it, ideals that they had the misfortune of having to deal with. Those same ideals matchup clearly with the daily Dem propaganda that I hear. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
