yes, of course. but i think that the span is the most important peice,,, im not sure though. i remember reading here or the other forum that to change the effective area of a slider that it should be changed cordwise, not spanwise. the 'scoops' built into sliders only add to the nose to slow openings, right? im just wondering what the rule of wrist is for sliders. -SPACE-
-
Im making a slider for an experimental canopy, does anyone know the ratio i should use for the span of the slider (width) to the width or span of the cell on a canopy? as in the distance between the center cell top cascade-canopy line attatchments? thanks in advance... CH Im posting this here because BASE jumpers are open to these kind of things. usualy. plus, im banned from every other forum.

just wear camo man. it makes you totaly invisible and you look cool jumping legal stuff as well.

the insider has very good ear opeings. as good as you can get on a helmet. 1.3mm hole wire mesh for about 8^2 cm right over the ear.
-
I understand that. if you aremaking people happy and making money making people happy, there is nothing wrong with it i guess. it is just depressing.
-
fair enough, death metal is worse i suppose. as well as anything from the completely inbred stream of judges and contestants on that american idiot tv program.

It's got lyrics, a melody and a rythym... so it's got cRAP beat right there!! the two absolute worst organised noises ever produced with intention to please. i am sorry you have to work where people want country music. i really am.
-
thats a good point, the face protection is rather large. but this could be good for the protection part of the helmet, but bad for akwardness, orsnag possibility maybe. I have been wanting to add a chin cup to this helmet along with a Camera mount.

http://www.parasoftparagliding.com/shop/products.php?cat=17 I have the insider, its really comfortable, and very reliable.
-
flimsy? how so? easily, and literaly 5 times stronger than the full faced helmets used by most RW skydive teams. and even lighter i think.

i remember hearing rumors that it was changed. that is from 2006. bastards. funny thing about the NPS... My girlfreinds Father works for the NPS, and him and most of his fellow nps guys (they and him are environmental consultants, they shut down powerplants and stuff like that to keep NPs clean) they dont like the NPS and think it is messed up that the rules are what they are. not just BASE, but everything.
-
paragliding helmets fit all of those criteria. besides that, they are light weight, aerodynamic, and readily available. just get one of those.
-
it just goes to show that BASE is becoming 'just another sport'. it is bad for the Old timers that want BASE to be a secret forever, and it is bad for the fact that it will show that anyone is capable of doing a base jump. there are a million reasons it is good or bad. but what the hell are you/we going to do about it? Hopeless....
-
your correct, i worded it wrong. i meant for non-delivery, delivery, of a person. to the same place that they were. kinda like not delivering something.
-
the FAA and the NPS are both evil, horrible, annoying necessities(if barely) the FAA has VERY little written on the skydiving end of aviation. The NPS has NOTHING written about parachutes and BASE in national parks. pulling low has nothing to do with the FAA. its the 'USPA-industry standards' that they could, -maybe- get people on. but the bottomline for your question is, its not an emergency. therfor, you cannot use that loophole, for FAA or NPS reasons. [useless rant]on a different note, i really hate all the moronic elitist skydivers that have never left a DZ that preach the SIM as if it was law. those people really crack me up.[/useless rant]

be sure to post pics of that. or video. that would be great to watch. ill come visit you in the burn ward of the local hospital as well.

it would be a very small margin of diff, but i notice it. of course, this is all trivial. jump it twice, one with the big pc and one with the small. see if there is a diff when your looking for it.
-
after your open and flying, the PC oscilates from different flows of relative wind. not only does it fly slower due to the induced drag inrease, but the canopy can feel a lot weirder than with no pc because the canopy has very little weight to it, and is affected easily by a PC at flying speeds. i think the canopy with air in it weighs about 8kg (i guessed, air at sea level pressure is 1.3kg/m^3), and a PC at flight speed can easily create 4kg of force. this is all after your open and flying, of course.
-
um, kinda. its a bigger PC, so you wont fly as well or as effieciently after opening, it could surge/slow down in weird ways as well. if its big(the jump), i would use a 42. 46 to me is for low things. or your freind who is to cheap and lazy to own anything but a 40" pc. stupid gilmer.

hahaha... Wind can be the best thing in the world. i think what he means is he hates less-desirable weather patterns.
-
i agree there. I know aven was joking, but i get scared that some think we are not.
-
you can tell the difference, but not much. it looked scary at first, but after the first packjob i got used to it and wondered why i did not do it sooner. when doing ground launches or rollovers, otsnicercause you can tuck all the flaps between the rig and your body. keeps them out of the way. not that they really get in the way on your back, but it looks nicer. my rig, and i assume all theones made, were sewn as if this was meant to be done, with seperate trim tape on the side thickness flap and the bottom thickness flap. i would inspect it for that seem, but i assume that they are all sewn the same.
-
how big is your canopy? velcro or pin? bridal length? jump description? LZ? I use a 42-46 for 100 meters as well. probably more 46 though.

ditto
