  1. should be treated as such. they are called risers/toggles. use them to avoid shit.
  2. agreed. for lazy/stupid people: wind down the wire makes the 120 degree 'optimal' opening range of the sectors moot. all you have to worry about is the wires that the wind is blowing down. basicaly, it turns a A into a A with wires at 180' abgles, not 120'
  3. i would think that a reverse rollover would be the same or les chance of lineover. the nose is grabbing air on the same side/direction that flight will be.
  4. whatev. maybe he has a left throwout.
  5. to jump? hmm... i think pretty freaking tired. but to climb, thats a different story.... climbing is intense on a ladder for more than 10 rungs.
  6. 434, thats amazing. is it a zoom-illusion? i hope not. he is LOW. luic low.
  7. late 80s i thought. but PG CReW? cmon man... thats sick... you know it.
  8. speaking of crossing over... I personaly believe that Paragliding and BASE jumping are if not the most pure form of human flight, by far the most versitile. here are some pics of me flying my BASE canopy at a very popular paragliding hill, was able to have VERY long canopy flights, in fact ones where altitude was gained from a ground launch. I have been jumping paragliders from airplanes at altitude of up to 18,000' MSL. I have soared for many minutes without loseing altitude on BASE canopies. I think that these two sports will contiue to progress closer to eachother... and i want to be on that leading edge.
  9. hehehe... i have done it 2 different ways... i wont get into details as to how but one method is a directbag no slider, the other is a deployment bag with slider and PC. the later takes more time to pack, etc. and that pictured glider was a DHV 1. a proof of concept jump. sadly i have no pics of later jumps on a 1-2.
  10. hell yeah man, I have only done simple wing walks with paragliders so far, no hard core 'CREW'... but i have proved the concept of jumping my paraglider from 12,000'agl from an airplane. so... all i need is some more PG/skydivers willing to do something new. then we will have 90min CREW jumps. me trying to lose altitude as fast as possible cant make my PG jump less than about 20 min. and thats pushing it. longest is about an hour from 7000 AGL here is some pics of me doing a rollover at potato with my paraglider. 2 min flights from 480'

    What to do?

here is to all us younger, less fertile kids. -SPACE-
  12. well, i think i found the best settings. 8f, 8min, 800 ISO 17mm FL noise reduction on, as well as post-shot photoshop scratch removal LCD ON for timing. the one with the green beam is 4f, 30sec. just to show the way i sight the ERS. -SPACE-

    What to do?

negative. choose A, pack, and jump it again. C just means the night is over and you might not remember the jump.
  14. oh, ghetto. you need to stop being so clumsy. at the GFG 2005 there was a guy doing a rollover out of the tram, we were all glad he had a cutaway. of course, it was kinda stupid to be doing a rollover out of a tram in 15mph winds, no?
  15. north from bridge, take 2nd right, drive .5 miles. turn right into dirt 'trails'. camp wherever. worked for us for a few trips. (we hid behind a hill, just another 100 yds off the road. just to not draw attentino, up at dawn, jumping before everyone else is nice)
  16. 300m in .5 hour? nice. i did 450m in 57 min one. grrr. what did the people working on the inside of the chimney say as you climbed past their windows?
  17. 980 has a point, velcro is really strong when used for a parallel force. but i wouldnt do it. it just scares me. i route lines through rings if its a jump where i will break something if i lose a toggle. especialy on my smaller rig.
  18. thats cool... I wonder what would happen and you BASE jumpers would say if someone went and did that today in broad daylight...
  19. i agree. I see why its there for water and un-tangling, canopy change etc, but i dont like it. I think that it should be a L-bar to connect a 3ring if needed for a jump, otherwise it should be sewn in or L-bared in. but about that rig, i like it, it looks cool. the toggles could be a bit more aerodynamic, but that will come.
  20. climbing the outside of a B is not only out of the question physicaly for a majority of BASE jumpers, it serves very little purpose unless in the middle of nowhere, and that is rare with a jumpable building. climbers 'buildering' usualy draws a lot of attention, from people inside and outside the building. not to good for keeping low profile at night.
  21. That thing was SICK. thanks Jay! i dont have much round experience, but i enjoyed my 2 jumps on it a lot. 3.5-4 sec is a bit brisk... i like it.
  22. it depends. i personaly would climb down if the ground wind was to strong in any direction, but other than that, depending on available LZs, (in CO the towers are built in million-acre LZs) i would jump with directly downwire winds. especialy if its at good tracking altitude. and always check for shear layers/direction shears. sometimes the wind could be down the wire at exit, but perfect at opening altitude, and it could be perfect at exit, but into the tower at opening altitude.
