well. take this as my VERY unexperienced advice. I have a spectre 170 loaded at approximately 1:1.14 with microlines, and i've made a biplane, compressed stack, and downplane with no problems. i dont really see microline as being that bad, i have never actually seen anybody get cut by it either, but i have been burned pretty good by dacron. *shrugs* just make sure you jump with a very very good crw jumper that can make up for your lack of canopy skills.

not necessarily. it could just be caught in your burble... its worth trying, its just like a hard pull. what do you do. you try 2 or 3 times and then initate emergency procedures.. right? if i yanked on the bridle and nothing happened, you bet your ass i'm goin cha ching.

i've also cleared p.c in tows that way, by grabbing the bridle. however, if i couldnt find the bridle or whatever for some reason i would cut away, make sure my risers have seperated from teh harness with a sweeping motion, and then silver. sounds like alot but it'd only take a second.

i've had guys lurk on freefly jumps before, i had no idea the guy was coming along, and startled me a little bit that he was there. but, he's a very good freeflyer and kept his distance so all was good. still wasnt really cool, i wouldnt have minded if he had told us he was coming, but eh whatever.

well, having personally having had a pilot chute in tow mal, even though it wasnt even a big deal in my case, what i did (NOTE, I AM A NOVICE, NFG, ROOKIE, whatever, so dont take what i did as what YOU should do) anyway, what happened was i pulled, waited a sec, felt no deployment, looked (actually reached back) felt the bridle and pilot chute above it, and yanked back (towards my ass) on the bridle and immediately let go and brought my hands forward again. this released the bag from the container and from there it opened just fine. *shrugs* is this a bad way to do it?

uhh.. thats JUST my credit card. plus 140 the bank wants, 575 for rent, 160 for phone, 400 for the car/insurance, 50 for electricity, plus more for food/gas. over 2,000 a month in bills. holy shit. and thats with exactly NO money coming in (yet) being an adult SUCKS. High: well, at least there isnt much the bank can take from me. Low: uh well duh.

HIGH: scored a job working at the DZ, gonna be doing video editing LOW: it'll be a while before i actually make any money, and the bills are piling up. :edit: uhh.. a much bigger LOW: my parents opened up my bills and found out just how much i owe the bank and credit card company, and they are just a little bit mad. they saw how much money had been going to the dz and said that they are not going to help at ALL financially at this point. woooonderful. HOLY COW, my bill for the credit card is 440 dollars. that is totally not cool.

hey man. congrats on your coming graduation from A&M and job at NASA. that having been said, i live in pearland which is like 10-20 mins from nasa, i'd suggest looking in the pearland/friendswood/clear lake area. Pasedena is ok, but can be pretty rough at times. I like Pearland,its really quiet, which can also be bad because it gets BORING sometimes. Friendswood is a little bit better, there's more stuff there, its a more expensive town to live in too though.

military wont work, i've already tried that route. i'm legally deaf, so they dont want any part of me. and no i dont want to live with my parents. i've dealt with enough of their bullshit over the years, and i'm out for good. my *$%W$%^ cards are cut up at this point. i'm still gonna jump, maybe not as often though And yeah i've got a lot more positive attitude about this whole thing then i used to, i'm just waiting to see what happens at this point. it'll definitely be a life challenge, thats for sure.

Update: so, i'm sittin here at my parents house, and they've told me what i pretty much expected them to tell me, which is that i'm SOL. so ah. i dunno what i'm gonna do. all i know is that unless i get a loan in the next 2 weeks, my life is going to be changing. ALOT. if worse comes to worse, i'll have to leave school and go live at the dz for a while, do odd jobs here and there and edit videos, make some money, keep my bills paid, save up for Rantoul, and get my freakin car fixed, basically live the life of a dz bum for a while, and then move to some other state. i'm tired of texas.

well, having actually BEEN in this situation, i say yes. in most cases. heh. it really depends on the exact situation, i'm going to yell and see what he does, if he reaches for something or whatever, he's gone. if he's just freaked out and scared, no i'm not gonna shoot him until he makes an action to attack me. what happened in my case was my mom's ex boyfriend broke into the house, we knew he had a .38 pistol, so i knew he was carrying, and this guy is 6'5, 250 lbs. and very, very, very pissed off. i ran into the other bed room and grabbed my sawed off custom 12 guage, and managed to get behind him as he was in the closet gettin his deer rifle out, and told him to get up and back away, and get out of the house. at first, he wasnt listening, just kinda laughed, then i cocked the gun, and he was like, ah you're not gonna shoot me. if he would have gotten that deer rifle out of the case, he would have dead before he turned around. however, he realized that i was serious, and that there was a substantial amount of firepower pointed his way courtesy of my mother and my sister, both with .45 pistols. *btw, dont fuck with texas women * anyway, it was definitely a scary moment, its not really one that i want to repeat any time soon, or ever, actually. but yes, if i honestly thought somebody was in danger, i would have pulled the trigger. there's no doubt in my mind.

i definitely learned some stuff. it was a good day.. hardly anybody showed up though because of bad weather. the ONE thing that i do want to point out that was kind of bad is that people need to SHUT UP and let the guy teaching the seminar talk. there were some people that kept interrupting the guy trying to talk, so that they could tell everybody about their own experiences, which was fine and all, but they should do that AFTER the guy teaching the seminar is finished. other then that, everything was cool.

i cant even do that for free.

aw man! meh, i'm getting kicked out of the coffee shop anyway. heh. actually, all of my friends live in New York now. they're all going to rochester institute of technology. new york doesnt sound that bad anymore. anyway, i'm gone for now. *walking*
