how many young sky divers are there on this board?
TribalTalon replied to TribalTalon's topic in The Bonfire
lol i was just trying to use the music as an example. the man in black rocks (or rocked) and i happen to be a fan of the doors. its just not often i meet an older person that jams to Disturbed or linkin park or one of those bands. usually its "what the hell is that shit!! turn it down!!" "crazy ass young people!!" -
hmm.. no i havent met him yet but i'll look for him.. thanks for the heads up!

just wondering who all on here is an aircraft technician.. i'm about to transfer to westwood college in houston at hobby airport to get my airframe and powerplant certificate. How's the job market for yall? My dream is to get a job at a DZ as an aircraft mechanic/crew chief. now that'd be the shit!!

hahaha... no really the reason why i was wondering if there were other young sky divers was because of the cultural gap between me and a 40 year old sky diver. while he might think the doors, and eric clapton and zz top are still the shit, i listen to 3 doors down, linkin park, Staind, stuff like that. also, times are ALOT different then 20 years ago when the 40 year old was my age. *shrugs* like i said before, age isnt that big of a deal. Also, i dont really care about jump numbers either. Its not the quantity but the quality that counts, in my opinion anyway. -

HA!!! do i detect a tad of jealousness? and thats cool that kid has so many jumps. sheesh. i'm not really goin for a jump record, myself, but it would be cool to have 100 jumps by the time i'm 21. or maybe even 210, with that jump on my birthday. now that'd be the shiznit. -
i saw that!! i've seen both the AN-124 and 224 at Bush continental. that 224 is one HUGE bish. lol... we could do like a 1,000-way dive out of one of those mothers.

i'm talking like 18-25 years old. none of this "young at heart" stuff either. i'm 20, and my best friend who also dives is 21. -
i think most people expected too much out of Revolutions. For what it was, i thought it was a GREAT movie. of course, i might have been a little happier if they had just done the zion battle, the neo/smith battle, and ended it. none of the talking or "drama" in between. But damn i loved those mechs, especially the shot of the mechs all shootin up at that hole in the roof of zion. Made for a hella cool shot. Did anybody see the preview for Troy? That looks like that should be interesting (especially for me, being a greek mythology buff) but like everybody else i'm waiting somewhat impatiently for LOTR to come out.

welcome! i'm a newbie too, no big deal.

i hope to be makin my AFF 1 jump in 2 weeks.. gonna try to space the jumps out for once or twice every month until i get past level 7, and the price drops considerably. I'll have to try to get on a sunset load sometime.. i bet its gorgeous.

LOL.... yeah i used to ride dirtbikes all the time, i used to race fast cars, nothing at all compares. if i could jump every day i definitely would. but unfortunately i have to deal with financial issues so i can only jump like once a month or whatever. -
yeah i've already gotten in touch with a bunch of those guys... definitely lookin forward to the opportunity to jumping with them!! should be a great experience!

well, me and my friends have been arguing alot lately, i've given up all of my other hobbies just for sky diving, and they dont understand why. I try to tell them that when i'm flying i feel alive. like POD says, i.... i feel so alive, for the very first time is anybody else like that? my life is so boring and dull it feels like i'm almost dead sometimes, and sky diving just makes me feel so much better. hmm just a little ranting, but i'm just wondering how many of you feel the same way? (or if i'm just crazy, which is also entirely possible) -
here's my goofy mug shot. the second one Aaron is in the blue/yellow.. we're gonna be startin AFF sometime this month... i guess we'll be the youngest deaf divers in texas. :D (he's 21 and i'm 20)
-
sweet i'll have to check it out. man i can tell i'm hooked, all i can think about is bein in that otter at 14,500 feet gettin ready to jump hehehe
-
hehe its all good!!! oh yeah, btw, I'm profoundly deaf, as is my best friend who also jumped, and we're both hooked. we both have cochlear implants and i can hear and talk pretty well while aaron (my friend) relies mostly on signing. It'd be cool to find other deaf divers, especially here in texas, but cant be too picky i suppose haha.

wow 13 views and no replies??? dont be scared i wont bite! oh well. Blue skies, Darko

well i just did my first tandem jump on sunday, i'm definitely hooked.. i hope to do my AFF class within the month! i jumped at Sky Dive Houston and my instructor was Mike Scott ( i think thats his last name) . it was a very cool experience, he let me take control of the chute for a while. definitely psyched to do it on my own!! how many people from here go to skydive houston? and by the way my name's Don, but most people call me darko as in donny darko.
