Alright after reading this for two days I'll try and give what I know. The real reason that the USDA is opposed to the testing by Creekstone is because of beef trade with Japan. Sorry no conspiracy. The Japanese government wants all US beef to be tested before they reopen there market to US beef. If Creekstone is allowed to test all the cattle they kill it would go against what the USDA is trying to fight against with the Japanese gov. It's also ironic that the Japanese want such tough standards fron the US which has only had two cases of Mad Cow while, there own country the had dozens of cases and little is said of it in Japan. I hope this makes sense.

I read it was too many radio frequencies in the air that are very close to the ones they naturally produce to home in on there hives. So maybe it's our cell phones that are the trouble

First off let me start by saying that before the dreaded auto you talk of came into wide spread use about 90 years ago over 25% of the land area of our country was devoted to the horse. Pasture, hay, oats, stables in the cities not to mention many of the roads we still use just that they were dirt or brick and not very wide. Next look at how much more mobile we are today than say 50 years ago. At that time most people never traveled more than a hundred miles from home and if they did it was very infrequantly. Then probably one of the worst reasons is our not in my back yard idea. Years ago people lived neer the place they worked. Now because of most local zoning places of employment have to be farther away from peoples homes. Another major problem is that almost no one can or even would if they still could shop on Main St. The stores we used to walk to from home or, were just a short drive from the country are gone. Replaced by the mega box supper centers that are always overcrouded with no where to park. And all because we want to save .10 on a role of paper towels. Just my .02

To any gun owning Americans on here....
jumpinfarmer replied to Axe_Murderer's topic in Speakers Corner
I didn't read the rest of the replies, didn't have time. However I think of and use the guns I have as tools. Just like anyother tool I own like wrenches and drills. If I need to shoot something or just scare it away that is when a gun gets used. I do play with them some, no not recklessly, but normally just for standard varmit controle. -
fun aren't they?

Both the disappearing bees and exploding deer population are BIG trouble. We have always had a couple bee hives here on our farm. We don't really take care of them like real bee keepers do they are just here to help polinate stuff. I noticed the other day that there wasn't anything going on around the hive and sure enough they are all dead

Yea he lost me too. If the old (I don't consider 68 old) farmer owns the land I don't see how someone could sue him for the land unless he did something against the lease. It sort of sounds like he may have been renting the land cheep and wanted to raise the rent while it was still under the lease. The only other thing I can think of is that the farm who is renting the land planted it to winter wheat last fall knowing he would loose the lease this year and is now taking him to court to be able to harvest the wheat this next summer. I'm not shure about Wisconsin but I know in New York that you have the leagel right to harvest a crop of wheat unless it was specified in the lease you needed permision to plant the wheat in the first place. I'm sure I've lost almost everyone but you with that explanation by now. Maybe diverdad could shed some lite on this since he farms in Wisconsin. Also I'd like to know what warpedskydiver is considering a big corperate farm? If I had more details maybe I could help. I'm sure you and I have seen more farm leases than anyone else on this bord ever will.

This story sounds like there's a lot of information missing. I'd love to hear the other side of it. I agree. From what I read so far you have an expired lease and the rent payments were not paid on time as well. So to clarify had the current farmer made all lease pmts on time?? If not I wouldn't expect him to get to lease the ground again. Also if this lease is expired, why didn't the current farmer have a new lease negotiated and in place well before the expiration of the current one? I'm not a lawyer but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last week! what? The elderly guy has owned the land for over 45 yrs. He leased it for a period of years for a one time fee. The corporate farmer says the debt is unpaid even though the period of lease is over. The corporate farmer want interest on the money that was given initially and that was not stated in the contract. If you take the mony exchanged and divide it by the period of time the lease was only paying half of the value of land leased locally at that time. Now the corporate guy is saying he wants the land in exchange for the interest owed. I'm with Opie this whole story doesn't add up the way you are telling it. If the farmer owns this land are had it rented out to another farm then why does he owe anything. I have a fealing that you may have some of the facts mixed up.

Yea, I heard the whole Situations Fucked up! How does someone victimize innocent animals like that? Well I'm sure it wasn't done intentionally. That said the wheat glueten was imported from China. This is something people should think about when they are buying imported food. It surprises me that this happened because any time I have shipped grain to a pet food company they have had much stricter standards than any human food or cattle feed company.

0-2-0 Made two four ways today at Rochester Skydivers. Too bad I flew like I had about 20 jumps instead of 220.

I think he did a great job. Probably the best skydiving interview I've seen.

A guy I know uses one of our hay fields for a runway in the summer in return for a ride now and then. I haven't gotten up the nerve to ask if I can jump off it yet but some day I will.

Nice job Bush - record annual trade deficit
jumpinfarmer replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
One of the biggest contributors to the trade deficit is oil imports. The price of a barrel of oil has doubled in the last few years and over 60% of that is imported. Reducing oil consumption and the use of alternative fuels will help some with this problem. Another part is that a great deal of food products are now imported. Not so much the staple meat, milk, and cereals but, the higher end wines and speciality foods as well as fresh vegitables. This is due largly to the change in how we eat and that we now expect to have fresh fruits and vegitables in the supermarket 12 months of the year, not just seasonally. -

I think it's sad that the people of this nation don't pay more attention to what our government is doing, even if they don't agree with it. We do live in one of if not the best nation in the world and all most people are worried about is that there TV is disturbed

I've gotten wet and pelted with ice a couple differant times on a jump. However on none of these jumps did we go through the cloud deck. We were always under it with the rain comming from above so you don't always have to punch a cloud to get wet.
