  1. This isn't even metaphorically correct. A pie can not be infinite. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  2. He was 17 and had knocked up a girl. It's not like he was curing cancer. You're mistaken. So, you're saying he WAS curing cancer? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  3. That's not how it works. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. You made the claim; You need to show us where that comes from. It is not, "self evident." quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  4. I think you're confusing self-evident with nonexistent. Dude, just admit you made a statement as fact with absolutely nothing whatsoever to back it up with. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  5. I think you've misunderstood. I want to see YOUR math. You said bill wasn't very good at it. I think we ought to be allowed to see YOUR work. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  6. Oh? Please show us your work. LET'S GET MATHY, PEOPLE! quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  7. Agree - except I'd suggest "Basic" is quickly becoming "All" I don't think it will ever become all jobs. There may be a time when it becomes fashionable or a status symbol to have real humans working for you in certain parts of the job market. While "commoners" will be almost certainly be served by robots at restaurants, the "elite" might want to show off with real people. But it doesn't even have to be 50% totally unemployable before it becomes a social nightmare. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  8. Yeah, the world is just now waking up to that. Some of us have been talking about it for at least a couple of years now. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  9. I thought I was pretty clear my opinion on the subject was in regards to the US. How it's handled in other countries where they already enjoy things like universal health care and whatnot . . . well, that's up to them. I just don't see it happening in the US. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  10. I could go for that. I don't think there's going to be a lot of support for it in the US and it's precisely what was done in the Soviet era with even the old babushkas, but I could go for it. Unfortunately, I think what we're going to end up seeing is more akin to the financial disparity shown in films such as Elysium. Basic jobs are done by robots making the vast majority of people unemployable at any wage. Meanwhile the ultra-rich live in their own hyper-isolated society. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  11. Quade. Any chance of locking this thread. R It would be more helpful if people just let it die. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  12. Not really. He paid actors to applaud at his campaign announcement. Now he doesn't even have to do that. Now he can just bring his staff along to do it for "free." quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  13. Mmmm... There is at least one other explanation floating around. I wasn't there. I haven't seen video. However, the story is that Trump brought a staff of yes men with him to chuckle and cheer at appropriate points so regardless if the CIA remained stoic, the microphones would still hear his intentions. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  14. All the more apparent Trump is a hypocrite so supporters deflect because he makes no sense. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  15. If Alt-Right = Neo-Nazi, then what exactly does "alternative facts" mean? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  16. Well, I think you're wrong about which demographic pushed it over the top, but that's for another day. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  17. It does, however, have a YUGE effect on House and Senate, which are the obstructionists or enablers depending on the year and a person's persuasion. Considering that's a branch of government which approves or denies the wishes of a second filling a third . . . it's not to be lightly dismissed. Except for the inconvenient truth that senate races are statewide and are not subject to gerrymandering shanaganians....you were talking about YUGE? I'm going to say yes and no. I realize yours is the popular and commonly given answer, but I think it's too simplistic for reality. Let's take a state with some gerrymandered districts which have several issues going on. I think it's entirely possible that the belief of certain issues passing or not passing in those districts encourage and discourage certain people from showing up at polls because they automatically assume the district will vote a certain way. We saw this sort of stupidity in the recent election season with a LOT of people in California assuming California would automatically go D and therefore felt like they could "vote their conscience" for either an L or G party Presidential candidate. The same thing happened in Texas only substitute R for D. Going a bit farther back, remember when California voted to deny gays the right to marry? Who would have ever thought that possible? And yet . . . there it went. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  19. My point isn't about the accuracy of the weapon. Skinnay seems to think we aren't already involved in an aggressive bombing campaign. I'll submit that we are. Aggressive is subjective. We were in a bombing campaign under Obama for sure, but it was specific. Trump has indicated he's going to be far less specific and more prolific as well. I don't think that's a step in the right direction. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  20. It's true. Drone strikes continued under Obama. In some drone strikes (maybe even in a lot of them) some innocent bystanders were killed. That said, drone strikes are one of the most accurate ways of bombing an enemy ever known to man with considerably less collateral damage than dropping bombs from manned aircraft. This is due to the extremely long loiter time and the ability to spend hours over the target checking it out to minimize collateral damage. 506 drone strikes over 2,920 or so days is also a reasonably low rate compared to approximately 4,845 bombs dropped just in the few weeks of the "shock and awe" campaign. http://www.statisticbrain.com/iraq-war-statistics/ Also see... http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/nation/2012/07/29/century-data-and-destruction-chronicled-air-force-officer/5m2HK2CP9UcwwJzMhtdQOO/story.html?camp=pm quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  21. There is one other reason politicians spend money on unnecessary things; corruption. Paying back supporters who got them into office. Paying supporters to continue their support. This is largely what the military industrial complex Eisenhower warned of is all about. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  22. Do not confuse serving in the military with being a patriot. This is especially the case regarding anyone who served during the draft; it was simply to be expected. There are millions of highly patriotic people in the US who were never called to military service, or were never able to for various reasons, or may have performed more valuable services to the country outside of the military. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  23. I'm not sure I'm go that far. I think a person can be patriotic without fighting a war for a foreign country. The Vietnam war was an incredibly complex issue. That said there is a certain amount of hypocrisy in getting rich off wrapping yourself in the flag after evading the draft. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  24. It is a well known fact that Truffula trees do best when CO2 is >400ppm. War is Peace. We have always been at war with Truffula. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
