hi STEVE little late too ! Glad to hear all went well...I think there is some very good info higher up in the thread and im sure you will make use ! Like Bernard/Tonto and I said that morning when we did the course with you guys - WS is a gear dependant discipline ... we don’t recommend using elliptical canopies to WS especially if its your chosen discipline, You can do it and loads of people do it but know that there its MUCH more likely that you will have a cut-away and be prepared (i.e. hard housing risers, higher pulling altitude ect) OR JUST DONT DO IT!!!!! glad your safe and hope to see you at our skills camp 11/12 nov. ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

Tornolf - that’s sounds hectic - I have had a few nasty's too when I got into acro (and was jumping a back inflating suit). The first time it’s really happened to me bad was a similar experience to yours except it started with barrel rolls. Luckily I was quite high but it I distinctly remember feeling like there is nothing I can do to stop it, I cut away my arm in a desperate attempt which didn’t help ANY. I tried balling up again going as small as I possible could and the spinning stopped. I was at 3.5k and deployed straight away. In my opinion cutting away your wings is a waste of time in a flat spin. Realising that you are about to start spinning and balling up IMMIDEATLY to stop the momentum before it starts feeding on its self is much more important. That’s the biggest lesson ive learned actually in dealing with spins. Knowing when the wing is starting a spin and rather than being rigid immediately closing down your tail and balling up. (ask tonto how white in the face I was after that event !) moral of my story is ... i dont condone using the cut away system in the event of a flat spin (personally) ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

variety is the spice of life.. bit tough to compare it to a tri-wing PF or BM suit - totally diff profile... ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

me and a friend have done it a few times witha group of 6 in S3s es... its freekin hard work getting that low! and as soon as you open anything the you rocket outta there (forwards and up) - kinda like chasing a first WS jump student in a classic (except the trackers fly straight) ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

we had a pretty sick one too ... went out to a place called Nylstroom outside Pretoria which is the capital of South Africa (geography lessons aside) to jump the infamous PAC from 12.5k. Me and my friend Rob Kruger have been talking about doing this jump for a long time and we finally got round to it
-
i wont lie the rear stabilizer is pretty damn low, first exit i went out on my back so i could keep an eye on the thing, wings closed for half a sec and you clear it easily but it WONT be forgiving if you pop straight out the door. BE SCARED It really is something you cant forget when you jump this plane. I usually jump a King Air or a Pilatus Porter and I found the exit speed kinda mid the two, not super porter slow but not as fast as the king air. The Pac we just got has a HUGE door and loads of rails. There is plenty of space - one jump i exited on my back at the front of the door with 3 guys facing me also in the door ... loads of space (like said I'm used to a king air door) Max flying - was so awesome ! we kept over flying the spot because we had more altitude and the run in was slower than the Kingair's speed obviously - plus we were SUPER amped, getting more and more distance and time on every load (after some energy bars and caffeine) - there is a big high way running parallel to the dz, was so cool tracking right above it for a few miles over taking all the cars below ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

Oh my word !!! that plane was incredible, actually not just the plane, the organizing and the altitude was insane. We had some great flights - V1 and S3s maxed out together from 13k to 3k (while i type this is im trying to keep my grin down). We are planning some bigger ways at Nylstroom for Oct/Nov. Wildchild let the flock down there know....the sheat is coming ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

the tail deflector looks funny .... if its not rigid then how will it shape the air flow over the tail wing ...looking at the first picture it looks like a big hole in the centre of the body... im sure they will have some explination - that aside nice work

Quick question is there anyone out there using a V3? I'm trying to get mine setup for still shots in freefall...If you do - what type of bite switch are you using ? And do you set the camera on manual or auto focus ? I'm having some issues but then again im pretty inexperienced when it comes to stills ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

Longer briidal and bigger PC definately means PVC pipe or something similiar with light weight (i have PVC) ~ what happened to your friend? What did he do ? ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
-
I have a question about using longer bridals - I have a 3m bridal on my wing suit rig and was wondering about all the extra complications I should be thinking about with using the longer bridal. Any ideas? Would the longer bridal put me in the same or a worse off position on any kind of malfunction? Has anyone ended with a two out scenario where the longer bridal was the source of a problem (and lived to tell). ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

ill come over in jan/feb (if i can unhook my suit with mylar without breaking them in my briefcase) to visit him and hopefully meet you too. ok i think im polluting this thread now - im off ciao ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
-
i must be honest - the first 3 weekends i unhooked my rig, folded the suit and kept it in a bag all nice and straight * after that it became too much of a hassle and i got lazy - i have left my suit attached to my rig for the last few months, when i leave the dz i put my rig in my boot last, obviously trying not to put anything heavy on the mylar but not too carefull really and all my ribs are still in one piece... lucky me my 2c mylar provides alot of stability .... its worth it ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
