  1. If you had to choose, which would you get? I'm leaning toward the XT (8meg) just b/c the cost is a bit less. Aside from cost and meg size is there any notable difference? Thanks
  2. Actually as the post above says, this WAS a rescue mission and they (PJ) stayed on board the vessel to stabalize the patients. Plus being 350+ NM out...helo's are not always able even with refueling.
  3. For most PJs I've met, tracking is not one of those thingsLaugh *** Bahahaha.....for some, that's very true!!!
  4. That specific picture, the team was at 10k, and yes getting close to the package was the objective. They were on their way to a vessel that had sick/injured crew members. Side note, I'm not implying I was on the team, I just know those who were.
  5. That picture is actually of US Air Force Pararescuemen (PJ's) It was during a RAMZ jump in FL a while back. The ruck he has contains his med equipment.
  6. I worked manifest for a summer to offset the cost of jumping. Here's how it went for me: -$100 per day, flat rate -started @ 7:30am, done after last load and all student rigs/tandems packed and put away and register/computer closed out/staff paid out -If it rains I got nothing usually (sometimes $50 if I spent time answering phones and rescheduling) -DZ was moderate size...In the summer we run a Super Otter for about 15-25 loads or more if we were lucky -Attitude towards manifest was good for the most part, instructors sometimes got picky as to what size students they took, who the jumped with (other instructors, etc), how many jumps they were getting...overall not too bad though. -I often times had to help pack student rigs and vidiots rigs in between all that. -I was only tipped by a select few who once worked where I did and it was greatly appreciated. Hope that helps.
  7. Our club charges $55 I think. Gets you a vote in the elections and I think that's about it. We may get some $$ off jumps but I don't remember...just a way to support the club to improve the DZ, amenities, etc..
  8. Jump #56, broken D Line at the cascade from a hard opening. Didn't even think about it, just did the EP's and landed fine. Then spent 1/2 the day searching for my main which landed 100+ feet up in a pine tree. Luckily a guy at the DZ just happend to have tree climbing gear and got it down for me. Good times!
  9. Then why don't you write them a letter, email, make a phone call and educate them on proper website launching/testing practices?
  10. Probably b/c they were test launching it. Perhaps they have outside reviewers of the content or something. My guess is they took it down so that impatient skydivers won't do what the gentlemen above you did and critique it before it was "ready" to be. Just my 2c.
  11. I believe I'm in your same situation....I picked up 87 jumps in about 1.5 years. Now just recently (as in about 5 weeks ago) stopped jumping and sold my gear. I racked up some debt paying for college, and life. I felt that this was the best move I could make. And to tell you the truth it has made a big difference. It jump started my repayment plan (that I planned). I know exactly when I will be debt free, what it will take to get there, and how long. Obviously theres more to the story than what I just said, but you should get the point. While I certainly miss jumping right now (as I just went uncurrent last week) I know the sky will always be there. I have a good repore with the DZ owner and getting a jump here and there won't be a problem, plus my friends are AFF-I's who will help me get current again. Do I regret selling my gear, not one bit! Life comes first and living in debt is not the way I wanna roll. When the time comes, I'll be back jumping under my terms. Everything paid for in cash (read:brand spankin' new V3!!! . For me it was the right decision and the best one.

  14. Nope, again I pay for my music collection. It's as simple as that. I just figured that a large group of people may know of more than just Itunes, Yahoo music, Napster, etc...
  15. b/c I don't wish to steal music. I prefer to pay for my music collection. Just a personal preference.
  16. What are some good legal music download sites? It must be legal, not p2p swapping. I'm not using apple products right now so Itunes is out. Need to update my workout/running music... Thanks.

  20. I wear the Cold Gear under my jumpsuit in the winter...it's great....I jump in VA so the temps are chilly but not terrible. Summer time I wear UA short and sometimes a heat gear shirt under...great products!
