  1. I'm going to post my favorite quote w/r/t the big 3: CAFE isn't holding them down. Poor business choices over a long goddamn time and no foresight are the cause of them circling the toilet. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  2. I know! Did you know he won't say the pledge of allegiance?!!!!!! .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  3. To answer your question, you'd truly need to be able to understand consent and how it applies to the parties involved in the relationship. I didn't read the article, but I'm assuming it's about a guy fucking a deer (based on your leadup). 1.) If it was alive, I'm not sure how he'd be able to demonstrate that the deer was having consentual sex, and I'd be apt to look at it as animal abuse. 2.) If it was dead, and he was fucking it in private, I would have a hard time finding a legal issue with it. Disgusting (to me)? Yep. But whatever some lonely hunter does in the privacy of his own home with his own property is of no concern to me. So. To respond to your "slippery slope" concerns: No, an adult shouldn't be able to marry a child. The child cannot give consent. No, an adult shouldn't be able to marry an animal. The animal cannot give consent. Yes, an adult should be able to marry another adult. They can both give consent. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  4. Sounds like you want another decider. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  5. Yah, exactly. Jesus Christ, the kid has been missing for, what, months? That poor kid has probably been dead and a half for a while, and all that bitch Nancy can do is go on a witchhunt. To put it politely, Nancy Grace represents everything wrong with the media today. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  6. What are the basics of education? Yes, I believe it is necessary for everyone to receive a certain minimum education to effectively operate within a society. Yes, I believe that it should be the state's responsibility to guarantee that each child receives that minimum level of education. I think a requirement along the lines of a state recognized, simplified teaching certificate is a good idea. Demonstration of general analytical skills, reading comprehension, etc. Perhaps something similar to a GED test. Once again, the idea is to produce citizens with, at the very least, the minimum education required for them to function within our society. It's hard to succeed if you can't read. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC

  8. You seem to claim that parents should be able to homeschool their child regardless of their own level of education, or their ability to educate their child. Is that not correct? .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  9. If you can't formulate a rebuttal, just say so, Marc. It's your job to research and backup your claims. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  10. Marc, If we replied only to posts that "deserved" a reply, you would be very lonely on DZ.com. So what are the acceptable boundaries for home schooled educational curriculum? Are there any? Provide me some specific examples, I'm trying to understand your arguement. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  11. You really don't understand much of anything, do you, Marc? Define "world view", Marc. What is the acceptable variance on what could be taught in homeschooling? Some standardized curriculum should be required. 3 + 3 = 8? Please, think of the children. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  12. Agreed 100%. I have no problem with parents who wish to homeschool their kids, but they should guarantee their kid gets, at a minimum, an education equivalent to that they would receive via public education. I've seen a significant amount of adults (some on DZ.com!) who probably shouldn't homeschool a child, at least not without some significant re-education of their own... .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC

  15. Perhaps if you didn't "boy who cried wolf" yourself into the corner with the barfing, you'd still be alive. Pity? .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  16. Colorado: Proposition 48: Defining the term "person" to "include any human being from the moment of fertilization." HAEEEEELL NO. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  17. Jesus Christ, Russ, you're like a fucking 100 years old! .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  18. Don't worry, you're only weakening your arguement, not ours. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  19. I don't believe I suggested you said anything contrary to the above statement in my post? That being said, why, to you, is an incestually conceived child abortable? .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  20. Tina Fey is actually attractive. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  21. When I say: and You're right, those statements are extremely polygaphobic. I agree that I was uninformed w/r/t the turnout of the FLDS case. Consenting adults should be able to do whatever they'd like with other consenting adults. However, I care less about polygamous relationships than I do monogamous relationships. It doesn't mean I'm against them in the least. But I'm sure you'll be classy enough to throw out another "feet against the coals" arguement. That was really good. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  22. so... Homosexuality and polygamy should be lumped in the same set as sexual child abuse? Certainly you can see the difference between what adults choose to do with other adults, and what an adult chooses to do to a child. FLDS actions resulted in the "marriage" (and resulting underage pregnancy) of teenage girls to significantly older males. That is NOT 2 or more consenting adults. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  23. What is the male's contribution to making a child? The male deposits semen. What is the female's contribution? I think we can all agree: significantly more. If there's such a disparity w/r/t male vs. female responsibilities during pregnancy, why should the partners have even remotely equal say in the decision to keep or abort? In my opinion, to suggest that the male should have an equal (or really, any) say is pretty out of line. Further, if he's so concerned that all of his sperm actually generates babies, perhaps he should have discussed that with the perspective mother ahead of time. Now this is fun! A child of incest should be aborted... why? And to continue with this line of questioning, does your expected response open the door for couples choosing to abort based off of certain medical predispositions? .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  24. I think partial birth abortions are probably the biggest detractor to how many view abortion as a whole, while representing (in my less-informed view) a relatively small amount of overall abortions. It would be my hope that a person wanting an abortion would acquire one earlier than later, and that a late-term abortion was performed due to possible injury to the mother. All of that being said, it's not really any of my business, and what a woman and her doctor decide is the choice they deal with, not me. Life is important, Mark, but I guess I see far more significance in participating in something like Big Brothers Big Sisters than trying to get more feet on the street. To each their own. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  25. That's an interesting question. For myself, it's when the child can survive under direct care of the mother(note, that does NOT include incubation in some pre-natal facility). As Trophyhusband notes above, it certainly can be seen as a cold view, but that's how it is. If the baby is not "wholly a person", it's not a person. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
