What disparities exist between how your ancestors immigrated to the US, and how someone might immigrate to the US today? Differences in approval time, required documentation, required languages? Does that matter, or is it a "so what, that's them, not me"? What percentage of social services are spent on illegal immigrants? If you want to save lives, one might suggest that you quit bitching about the low risk problems, and focus on the higher risk problems. While your exposure to drivers talking on cellphones is significantly higher than that of drunk drivers, the probability of getting injured by a 'talker' instead of a 'drinker' is significantly lower. The problem is that there aren't really absolute morals, Sarah. Individuals may have what they believe to be absolute morals or ideals, but there will always be some variance in what is acceptable to a group. You're right! We should reward low quality productions that won't be profitable without significant bailouts. We should also reward companies that refuse to look towards the future, and are incapable of adaptation.
