  1. I certainly do not subscribe to the "bitch set me up" defense you relate, nor do I have any problem with a cyclist sharing the lane. Here in CO, we have cyclists everywhere, and I have no problem sharing lanes with them. What I do have a problem with is the fact that you PRESUME innocence on the part of the bikers. Guess what. They were being filmed, and we're not talking high quality film here, we're talking low quality "hey watch this" street video that they're gonna try to sell you between the 2-3am slots of Jerry Springer. Lets examine another scenario. These bikers hassled this guy, and while doing so, the guy in the car realized that bikes can respond faster to situations, and move in close quarters. He decides to push forward with the intent that the bikes will respond and move out of the way. He mows them over accidently. It sucks, but it's no different then the games they've been playing all night. Look better at the context of the film before you pass judgement on who was really the offender here. In regards to the comparison to the guy who wants to see a fatality, of course I don't. I have no interest in surrounding myself with death. Keep arguing it all you want, I will stand by my statement. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC

  3. Because it is how I, and everybody I used to hang out with, rode when I was far more of an asshat than you see today. Enough said. Had it been me, doing what I envision them probably doing, I would say I deserved it just as much as them. This is not a one way street for me. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  4. Boo hoo hoo. It's my opinion and I'll stand by it. In my eyes, I see it as not an intent to kill, but an intent to remove themselves from the situation. Let's examine the offensive drivers perspective: Does it: A: seem plausible that some average joe is driving down the highway, all lanes become blocked and he decides to take them out. or B: seem more plausible that after this group of bikers decided to "play" with this guy they think to themselves, let's slow him and everybody else down to 20-30 below the speed limit? You have no idea what these guys were doing before. But I have a good idea, for reasons which I will keep to myself. And if my good idea is correct, the guy deserved what he got. PM me if you want to unsuppress those feelings. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  5. Things can be unfortunate and yet deserved. It is unfortunate that he died in the accident, yes. Did he bring it upon himself due to his VERY poor decision, I think so. You may think that it is outrageous, I don't. Further, they weren't block A lane of traffic, they were blocking ALL lanes of traffic. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  6. I can agree to at least part of that. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  7. Yah, they probably did deserve it. What the video didn't show was them probably driving like assholes for the last 10-15 minutes. Now, had this been a quick full lane show, and then clear a path, I might feel different. Most of the videos I've seen of bikers on the highway suggest otherwise. Act like a moron, get what you deserve. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  8. nah, i should be ok. Finals just suck. So are both of you guys done/What degrees are you working towards? MechE and Physics double here/Econ minor .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  9. I'm "studying" for a massive heat transfer final tomorrow that is going to spank me bad. Can anyone say "handjobs to pass". and in response, "god i hope not" .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  10. In the case you just posted, I'm gonna have to go ahead and say they deserved it. Now before you hop on the "not a rider trip", I am about to add a second bike to my collection, so nobody get huffy. As GravityMaster previously mentioned, yah, as bikers we have to do a lot to make ourselves as visible as possible, and keep an eye out for the latest numnuts who's looking to run us over. That means being a more agressive/defensive riding style. But if you're gonna be a wanker, and block all lanes of traffic with your buddies so you can get some cool video, you should probably get run over at least once. Same as people who don't pass in the left lane. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  11. boy, i was able to read it just fine. Keep up the witty comments, they make you sound particularily clever. Let me add an actually useful portion to this post now: I think it is a good thing now that Sadam is no longer in the picture, but I cannot pretend to know what the Iraqis have gained and what they have lost. Further, the loss of both civilian lives in Iraq and enlisted lives is just rediculous. I cannot really say if it is worth it, because I am not over there, but neither can all the people on here with military experience who go over there, fire a gun, and distribute some food. To them it is a war zone, to others, a home. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC

  13. per·pe·trate ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pûrp-trt) tr.v. per·pe·trat·ed, per·pe·trat·ing, per·pe·trates To be responsible for; commit: perpetrate a crime; perpetrate a practical joke. An action to be responsible for? Sounds right to me. When all else fails, argue semantics ehhh? .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  14. Do you live near a Trailer park in Michigan by chance? With this fine note, I am probably out of here guys. I have too many papers to grade, and it is far easier for me to just continue to corrupt college youth with my terrible mind. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  15. Any loss of life is unacceptable. To attempt to justify it, to shirk responsibility just because our guys lives are more important, and to think that that reasoning is enough that "armchair quarterbacks/chairborne rangers" cannot question the validity of an action is crazy. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  16. Actually, you are missing the point. While I want our guys to not hesitate and end up dead, I also don't want our guys to feel they aren't responsible with regard to their actions. I understand that to you their lives are paramount, but that is not justification for every action they perpetrate. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  17. Speakers Corner would be just a little bit boring if we only talked about the 100 good things to every bad, don't you think Scott? Do those 100 good things justify every bad thing? I have to actually go teach now, more witty comments from me in a while. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  18. See, I think that favoritism in this case is wrong. If we have to actually question a persons actions, then we need to do so in an unbiased manor. Not say, "Hey, we are questioning what you did, but we are allready assuming you are right 99.9% of the time" (immediately after this conversation took place, we'd have to do a really really big obvious wink and probably point at our eye when we did it too ) .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  19. How do you replace a dead parent, child, or sibling? I can replace a wall. I can replace a roof. It would appear that my and your definitions of "damage" are a little different. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  20. I think some people go over there because they want to "kick some ass" and thus are less likely to hold true the ideals of life. Did I say all? No. I absolutely respect the men and women who are in the military, who are working hard to make the RIGHT decisions over there. Do I think that SOME people try to use the environment that soldiers are placed in to justify any and every action, irregardless of right or wrong? Absolutely. Look at the very first post in this thread. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  21. Scott, irregardless of the above statement, what do you say our present responsibilities to Iraq are? .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  22. good, i can't wait to see them. I hope they are fancy. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  23. The question is perhaps, do you really understand what they have to do? They have to make the right decisions to protect life, not become complacent or gain a cavalier attitude towards life (I'm not saying all or even most do, but some do). The firefighter has to go into a burning building to save a life, that doesn't mean he shoots the doorman in the head for fun along the way. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  24. As opposed to... arkansas? Just a guess Really though, this "don't question our actions" mentality is just bullshit, Rhino. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
  25. Doesn't mean it's wrong. Doesn't mean I don't work towards a change. .jim "Don't touch my fucking Easter eggs, I'll be back monday." ~JTFC
