The great thing is that monitor was given to me by my bro in law I watched T2 Extreme Edition on it this weekend in 1080p. I enjoy it on the PC. That version is supposed to be better than the console version. Right now it's gathering dust as I am only playing World of Warcraft. btw...I am now running that game at 1600*1200, 72hz refresh, Full AF, all details on, full terrain details and still averaging 70fps (even in Ironforge). I am running the AMD3200+ (Barton), 1gig of value select corsair PC3200 (set at optimal, not aggressive), BFG 6600GT OC, WD80GB ATA133 w/8mb (using the SATA rockethead adapter) on an Abit NF7-S Nforce2 mobo...and a 24 inch CRT monitor. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... That sounds about right. So while he is spending all this money there will be thousands of americans losing their jobs as these programs are wiped out. I guess that is a little too granular for Bush to even notice. I am glad to see he is so intent on working on providing a better way of life for people in the middle east while neglecting ours in this country. Have you found any benefit to having 2gig of PC3200 on a system? I feel the same way. Raid 0 & 1 for the average person is useless. If you have the cash, go Raid 5 with a Raid card and at least 5 hard drives of the same type. With DVD backups and external USB and Network drives, there are much better ways to do backups. Since I now have plenty of pictures I do not want to lose I am looking into some external storage. Good call on all parts! But i don't think the AMD 64 3400+ works on that mobo. You will have to use the 939 with it. So, either change the mobo or CPU. (edit: ha, just saw you got the same advice already) I would add one more thing to that - a SATA drive for storage only. Kingston is a good memory, but I personally have found that Corsair is the most reliable memory out there. I've yet to build a system that had any memory issues while using Corsair. Intel or AMD? PCIx or AGP? If you are looking for a midgrade I would settle for the Nvidia 6600GT PCIx, if you can afford the extra cash go with the 6800GT. I have the BFG6600GT OC and its the best video card I have ever used. Read up on that entire BFG 6600 line here: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NzE2. The great thing about the OC BFG line is the lifetiem warranty - if it breaks, you RMA and they send you a new one. The AMD64 FX53 939 is a great CPU and can easily hold its own against anything on the P4 HT level. For the ram make sure you go with the Cosair TwinX 1gig (2 sticks of 512) for a nice stable environment. I would go with anything Asus or Abit that would hold that CPU. Well, I wasn't at fault in any of those accidents...so you are saying you would take me out in a skydive??? Here is the bad part - those are only the major car accidents. I've been in about 8 of them now and I've yet to cause one. Only once have I been in the driver seat (the drunk driver one). All of them have involved red cars. Freaky, huh? I had some HS girl blow thru a stop sign some years back and plow thru me while I was on my bike. Luckily I saw her at the last moment and jumped up off my bike enough not get run over by her...but she still caught my leg and I slammed into the car. I snapped to about 25 feet from the car. Bruised ankle, busted shoulder, whiplash. A few years later I was riding in the back of a friends car when a group of girls decided to do a U-Turn in the middle of Clark (just North of Wrigley Field) on a busy, rainy Friday night. We T-boned them, snapped their axle in half and I cracked my sternum. A year later I was riding passenger again and a friend hydroplaned down a hill into a pickup truck and I cracked my sternum, again....and whiplash. A year later I was sitting at a stop light when a drunk man decided to back into my car six times. Permanent damage to my lower back and hip....even more whiplash. (If i was a horse they would have taken me out back and shot me by now!) The last three accidents all happened on the same day (Dec 23). You can trust 9/10 programs that are on www.downloads.com. Just read the user reviews and stick with the ones with the best ratings from users and C|Net. Search there for Ad-Aware and Search & Destroy. You can't go wrong with both of those on your system. If you have Win XP get the new mal-ware removal tool. We are in the final stages of our renovation here at the office. What was supposed to be done during our two week holiday break still has a few more weeks to be done (they haven't even scheduled the detail work guys to come in yet). Of course there was the typical white dust over everything, but it's been the fumes that have been killer. Last week the oil based Killz was applied and the fumes were overwhelming, esp in my office since I am the closest to the work. I didn't realize how bad it was until I stood up to meet one of my appointments....I forgot how much that stuff can get to you. Today they are putting down the carpet and the glue they are using is down right toxic. Two people have already left the office due to headaches and now it's starting to get to me.
