The Lemmy interview was instant classic for me and my friends. True Ricky was a poser, but it was the closest thing we had in the 80's that would play anything close to metal. Due to some major miscommunication from a piss-poor principal, my high school had two proms (school sponsored and "minority" prom) my senior year back in 1991 on the south side of Chicago. It was really terrible how bad the situation declined for a while, esp with the media making it the leading news story for a few weeks. We had race fights in the hallways like crazy. It was a situation that a person with decent communication skills could have resolved upfront - but once the damage was done, there was too much resentment and anger. It nearly ruined the last two months of high-school. Both proms were on the same night and by that point most of the students were tired of the fights and racism - a dencent amount of students went to both. The next week in school, the seniors took in into their hands to resolve the tension by having one huge water ballon fight in and out of the school. MTV recently had a program about Headbangers Ball. Ricky was talkinga bout how all the bands kept trying to hurt him etc....and how Dave Mustang even got him to jump. Saw a video of the two of them in belly suits leaving a twin-otter in this program. Mine is worse than that. Been jumping for 4 years, and have 500 jumps. The problem isn't skydiving - the problem is that scholiosis can lead to many other problems during your life if you are not careful. For instance - I was hit by a drunk driver 6 years ago and it only made my lower back injury worse. Then at the end of last season (my least active jump season yet due to lack of cash) my left hip started to give out and cause pain down my leg. The back problem now turned into a sacral illiac and pressed nerve issue which grounded me for 7 months. You have to stretch out at the start and end of everyday. YOU will be sore no matter what you do - a certain amount of daily pain and muscle aches is a common thing for this condition. The less you do for your back, the more pain you will be in. 1152 is usually a wierd video mode to get working. try either 800*600 or 1024*780. I never had a problem with the demo - and i have a slower system than you. UT2k3 is short for Unreal Tournament 2003. The cheapest I have found it anywhere in recent days is at ebgames.com for $30. Don't have Sof and have never played it. Been thinking of getting that or Medal of Honor for my next game. I have BF1942 and Rome, but never really got into the game too much. It's fun for a while and would reinstall and play again if you guys want to play. I know I own Q3 Arena, but would really have to look to find Q1 or Q2. For me it was a straight in landing on a no wind day under a lightly loaded Sabre 230 - last minute brain fart and I forgot to fully flare. Four and a half years later neither one of my knees are at 100% and the Dr's still can't figure out why they keep clicking and popping. Some people still laugh about that one jump with multiple landings (I managed to bounce back up and thru my risers). You realize that it is possible for this skygod in training to get a canopy? He now knows what not to say when he calls another gear store, or he can just get someone else to call in for him. Once the canopy arrives, he goes to another DZ and jumps it there. I really hope that he never gets his hands on this canopy (or this is just a bad joke someone is playing on you). However, there is only so much we can do to stop the dumb ones from kiling themselves and ruining it for the rest of us. I don't think anyone who is a true advocate of free speech said it was wrong to disagree with them. The idea of the picture and what others are pointing out is just because they vocalized their disdain for GW Bush they have been accused of many things (treason, un-American, etc). Somehow I don't think if they said skydving (or anything else) was wrong that they would get death threats, people burning/crushing their CD's, people telling them they were sleeping with the enemy, or the rest of that comical rhetoric that stunk of book burnings and censorship. The overwhelming violent reaction that many people had to them practicing their freedom of speech is disgusting and more un-American than anything these women did or said. Since when is it wrong, illegal, or an act of treason to speak against or mock the President??? If that is so, someone should go arrest Dana Carvey for making fun of the original Pres. Bush, and while you are at get the rest of the SNL and MadTV casts for the same offense. By everyone making a bigger deal about what they said, you have given their voice more power and more attention. Most of the country would have missed what they said. Everyone needs to lighten up on this stuff. It is their opinion - which they have a right to have and express. They said it, it was published and the press ran with it. Would you want a few thousand people threatening you and your family because of your opinion? I didn't think so. Please, disagree with them, and loudly voice that opinion. I'd bet they can, within the letter of the law. HR Law is a very tricky thing. If you are asked on your application or interview what year you graduated from High School and you don't get the job - you could accuse them of age discrimination. Illinois is an "At will" state as well. It almost feels like you are saying: Once you get fame, you no longer have the freedom to say anythign you want? Huh - I was under the impression that Tivo could not do broadband, even via the USB port. Does it have a setup for TCP/IP like ReplayTV does? Does the Tivo update more than once in a day via DSL? What made you choose the Tivo over ReplayTV? Sorry to disappoint - this movie must have a PG-13 rating per the studio. The studio feels if they go for the R-Rating, they won't make as much. Kinda sucks that we were forced to see Arnold nekkid, and we can't see the Terminatrix the same way. Well, after looking at Linksys last night, I see that they have a few A and G solutions coming out. This would then cover all three protocols for you. Keep an eye on www.pricewatch.com or www.techbargains.com to find the cheapest place to buy them. The benifit to 802.11a is that it allows more connections in one room and has more bandwidth than 802.11b. A simple workgroup wouldn't need that, only if you were in a domain environment (with repeaters since the signal doesn't go very far). 802.11b has been adapted by most hotspots due to cost, but it doesn't do as well thru solid objects. 802.11b is great with high gain attenaes - Para Concepts has covered all of Skydive Chicago with 802.11b and it works great. However, flat metal surfaces (like a trailer) can be an issue if you do not have a direct line of site setup (more repeaters is the easiest way to fix this). You can also purchase 802.11b signal boosters for the retail stuff. 802.11g is still in draft form, and will become official by Q3 with Cisco shipping devices by the end of Q3. Howerver, it is pretty much a given that the draft is not going to change. ALL 802.11g devices MUST be bacwards compliant with 802.11b and be able to work in that mixed mode environment (which means at the least, you have an 802.11b network). 802.11g also has the faster bandwidth like 802.11a, and has the ability to go farther and thru more objects. I took my 802.11g laptop everywhere in my apartment and had an average of 46Mbps. For the most part, I get the full 54Mbps anywhere I want. Compared to my wired network, it only took a minute or two longer to download the new 1024*768 Matrix trailer via wireless. Just before sunset, I went into the backyard to surf the net while watching planes take off (yup, I live that close to Midway airport). I had a constant connection of 36Mbps connection despite the brick walls with siding on them and was able to play a video game over the internet as well. The 802.11b AP and routers should be upgradable via firmware in theory since they both work on the 2.4Ghz band.
