Trying to set up my avatar, but realized that I don't have a program here to crop, darken, and resize the jpg. Anyone care to help? It will need to be darkened. Thanks _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Same thing here in Chicago. It was 80F on Monday and Tuesday, and I think it was only 40F yesterday. Oh yea, did I mention clouds? ugh. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

You mean set up IPSec? Eh, don't feel like messing with that too much yet. Gonna have to pass on the Cisco AP for now - costs too much and they only support a and b for the moment. They are scheduled to release the g stuff by the end of the year when it moves out of draft stage and bcomes an official spec. By the way - did you see that someone just came out with a dual a/g device? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I'm thinking of setting up a 2000 Adv Server at home with VPN. Is there anyway to setup the AP for authentication within AD? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Finally setup my 802.11g network tonight. Have it nice and locked down with MAC filtering and 128bit WEP. Sitting on another floor with my laptop at the other end of the house from the AP listening to the music on my home PC system with full signal strength while surfing DZ.com (the house is actually an 80 year old two-flat wood frame with plaster walls). Think it took me about 20 minutes to get the whole thing up and working. Since I am new to the wireless world - I wanted to get some advice from my fellow techies out there. Outside of WEP and MAC filters, do you use anything else for wireless security? Also - what programs do you use for wireless network searching while on the road? Anything else cool you do with your setup? Any other power tools I should know of? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Yea! I'll never use French's Mustard again! That'll show those French! Don't suppose a war and Sars combine with the sagging ariline industry after 9/11 would have anything to do with that? But I guess it doesn't matter - I have a different opinon than Garcy so because of that he can't trust me. Do you feel as strong about "paper or plastic?" Someone disagrees with you and you cut them out fully? Please tell me that was a troll. I think what Wendy was getting at, is that we are all a bunch of talking heads on a web page, and in the end all of our talking won't matter or effect anything. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... ***as WE have the right not to buy attend or endorse anything they do. To each their own. *** Think you missed my point. I don't agree with all the anti-war talk. Nor do I agree with all the pro-war talk. Extreme viewpoints get you nothing but a myopic POV. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter what I think. I will defend and fight for freedom of speech no matter what the topic is, or what the opinion is, or who is saying it. Even if the person is an A**hole, they have the right to be a very loud, chatty one in this country. That's America, and that is why I love this country. ***By what you just said I know you never heard over 2 programs. *** Actually, I heard almost every show of his during the 90's. I was a media-studies student in college and did at least a hundred research papers on talk-radio. On top of that, I was in talk radio for most of the 90's and Rush was up against the show I worked on. In talk-radio, you tape your competition and analyze every minute of their show. I hired an intern just to tape his show, and even met the guy. I spent the better part of ten years obsessing about the media, news, talk-radio, reporting etc.....as much or more than the way anyone on here gets about skydiving. Trust me, when it comes to the media - I know what I am talking about. You really want to know the funny part about Rush. It's just a job to him, at the end of the day he is willing to say anything that will keep his paychecks coming in, and to avoid talking up songs like he used to do. I just find it interesting that it was OK for people to openly voice against Clinton, but its almost treason to do so against Bush. ***sorry for you, they are one of the most balanced news networks to date.*** Matter of opinion I guess. Then again, I found only one or two reporters (not networks) in my years in the media to be balanced. ***I don't think so. You antiwar ppl have got it all wrong.*** I find it funny how those that are strongly pro-war assume that all anti-war people are idiots and would want to see a pic of SH kissed on TV instead of Bush. I am glad to see that the Iraqi people are appreciative of our sacrifices on their homeland. Let's get a couple things straight: 1) I have family and friends over there right now and I support them. Please do not assume that I do not fully appreciate that they are putting their lives on the line for my freedom. If I had a tree at my house, there would be a yellow ribbon on it. 2) I am not one of those war protestors standing on the street blocking traffic. Outside of a couple heated emails or conversations with close friends, I have done nothing for/with/against, etc this war. 2) SH is no friend of mine and the SOB needed to go away a long time ago. 3) It's not all about oil, but alot of it has to do with money. Even Bush has agreed that this will help the national economy. Once again, it's not all about oil, nor is it all about just one thing. This whole war is far to complicated to rely on just one reason/excuse. 4)It couldn't be like 'Nam since the administration wasn't trying to keep it a secret. Apples and Oranges IMO. 5) Thousands are not dead? Last count of Coalition was about 123. That's 123 too many in my opinion, but I don't get a vote in this stuff. I doubt anyone will ever get a truthful number on how many innocent people died over there, we can't even agree how many people show up at Times Square for New Years Eve. 6) Well, we can't tell what the long term will play out here at home. Get back to me in 20 years on this point. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

This is insane. They voiced their opinion, which is their right to do so (our troops defend this right with their lives). Last time I checked, we haven't changed our policy on Iraq because of anything Tim Robbins has said. Is Joe McCarthy still out there? I watched Robbins on C-Span on Tuesday from the National Press Club and it was the most educated discussion about politics and war I have heard in the last couple of years - I have a vast amount of respect for this guy now. Try to find the transcripts online - it should be a very good read. I find it interesting that Robbins specifically pointed out Fox in his speech and criticized their ethics, and here they are writing up an article like this. I will make sure to fully support those that spoke against the war with my money, even if I didn't agree with what they said. It's America people. Lighten up - allow those that disagree with you to say what they want. But don't treat them as un-American because they do so. Also, I know for a fact that Rush Limbaugh spent all 8 years of Clinton's time in office doing NOTHING but using his daily 4-hour talk show to make fun of the President and try to rally the country against him. He also did this when Clinton went into Kosovo. Why wasn't FoxNews, et all trying to lynch him when this happened? Guess that the former administration didn't push the media into lamblasting those that exercise their rights. FoxNews is the biggest mouthpiece I have seen for an administration in some time and I have ZERO journalistic respect for that company now. Did you know that Ari has kicked a reporter out of the White House because she asked if showing the prisoners of war in Cuba on TV didn't violate the Geneva Convention on the same day he claimed that Iraq was in violation of such a thing. You can be anti-war and pro-troops all in the same breath. Now, let me ask you this: You think our Congress is pro-troops? You would think so - after all they passed a resolution on Tuesday voicing their support (tax dollars in action). Then later on that day, they passed a cut in benefits for all the military, esp for those that received extra benefits for wartime service. Nice huh? Wonder why Fox didn't report that? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

You will get both good and bad depending on the reporter. WGN-TV won an Emmy for the story on the 1998 300-way attempt (the reporter was also a jumper on the attempt) at Skydive Chicago. Then you have the KAS stuff..... _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Just curious who it was, or where the pic was taken in this months Maximum PC (April 2003 - Maximum Upgrades on the cover). Picture is on page 46 for an article called "Flipping out over handheld games" and has a guy jumping with a Palm PDA. Article is about PDA's replacing the GameBoy. Curious if someone at the magazine is a jumper. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Nope, but just realized tonight I need to go to H&R Block in the morning, I missed a W2 form on my filing. Already spent the check, but it looks like I will need to give $250 of it back to the government Oh well, easy come, easy go. What really sucks is that this will cost me late filing fees and H&R block fees now. Next year, I will just give it all over to H&R from the start and save some trouble. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Same thing happened while I was using AOL once upon a time. Created an account, went to my marketing preferences, clicked "no" on everything. Logged off. Was logged onto the account no more than 10 minutes, and forgot that I even had it. Logged on 2 months later to that account and found it had over 500 spams...... _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... http://www.cdt.org/speech/spam/030319spamreport.shtml Clip from the article: In the summer of 2002, CDT embarked on a project to attempt to determine the source of spam. To do so, we set up hundreds of different e-mail addresses, used them for a single purpose, and then waited six months to see what kind of mail those addresses were receiving. It should come as no surprise to most e-mail users that many of the addresses CDT created for this study attracted spam, but it is very interesting to see the different ways that e-mail addresses attracted spam -- and the different volumes -- depending on where the e-mail addresses were used. The results offer Internet users insights about what online behavior results in the most spam. The results also debunk some of the myths about spam. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

I'm running Ut2k3 on a Coppermine 550mhz that is overclocked to 733 on a GeForceTi4200, 512meg Ram (only pc100) without a problem. I'm only playing at 800x600 thou. In the process of upgrading so I can play the next gen games that will be out in the next year. Parts are dirt cheap right now, and CPU's are not giong to increase in speed much this year (AMD is concentrating on the 64bit stuff and Intel will hit a thermal limit on the .13 when the 3.2gig comes out in Q4) which also means the CPU prices will not drop much in price this year. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... A voodoo 5 on a 1.3Ghz system? why? You can get a GeForce 5200Fx for $99 online. 3Dfx/GLide are as ancient as the Round Main. Btw-those are some nice stats for UT, I always prefered the sniper over the rockets. Gotta love it when you have a guy shotting 5 rockets at you, then dodge 'em, and turn around and frag him with one shot! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... All time favorite is Yuri's Revenge of Red Alert 2 series. Been playing Unreal 2003 recently as well (I think I still like the first one better, this one plays too much like Quake 3). When I am in the mood for something slower I play Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 or Flight Sim 2002. Now that I am unemployed, I am checking out what other games are in the apartment on my roommmates computer. I've already reorganzied the home-office so I have all nine computers on the DSL and wired cable-tv into here as well. Thinking of adding a server with ADS/DNS and DHCP as well as a 802.11g network so I can use the laptop anywhere in the apartment. Oh yea, I do all this at night while spending the day job searching and catching up on my reading. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Last time I checked - those in the middle-east that are angered have declared a war on the USA - they feel that suicide bombs and death of American civilians are just part of that war. We call it terrorism. Semantics. By doing so, we may have motivated them a bit more to make more sacrifices. I would guess that is the reason why we are back to Terror Alert Orange. The problem with war is that its a matter of perspective. And who are you going to believe, the media? OK, from which country? No one in media ever lies or stretches the truth to get a good story..... Just as we say to whuffos "define normal" anyone can say "define right/wrong" or define "good/bad." Part of the problem is that most people have a short term memory on violence and who caused it - one of the reasons the NYTimes, CNN, USAToday, etc have an expose explaining the political/religious/violent history anytime a hotspot hits the news. Pretty easy to spin a story when most of the population didn't care the last time the story came up. Now, it seems that we are experts on the middle east and are now passing judgments on people. The same thing happens in other countries as well. All it takes is a charismatic person to round up people to support the current action. I went to Ireland before the current peace, and witnessed quite a few terrorist actions while over there......I used to be gun-ho just like others, saying things like ""screw it, let's just bomb them" but my perspective changed once I actually lived around this stuff. I'm sure if I witnessed first-hand a true war zone my opinion may change again. But, I sit here nice and safe in my home, thousands of miles from any danger. But I'm sure that article in the paper really is telling me all I need to know on the subject. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... (BTW, I don't know any regular SDC jumper who categorically dislikes other DZs. If there's a rivalry, it's one-sided.) That just about sums it up. If it is a DZ with safe planes, I'll jump there and I will like it :) . With the way DZ's are getting closed down, I don't think we have any room for this "my DZ is better than yours" school yard fight. The more DZs near my home the better!!!! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

No, I don't think he was - Bob is a great DZO and has a great, friendly DZ. What I was refering to is how Andyman said that there is only 1 DZ outside of SDC in the Chicago area - which isn't true at all. Last time I checked, I went to 4 DZs in the Chicagoland area last summer. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Sorry - haven't been on dz.com as much as of late. Yup - missed that one! Thanks for the clarification Chris. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
