I wasn't at the auction, i was busy with other stuff. What was that all about? Some companies auctioned off stuff that was sitting on their shelves they didn't want anymore. Yea, I heard of a few vendors that were very pissed about the auction. Personally, I don't hate the WFFC or want to bitch about it all day long. I do think some things can be fixed or changed to make it better and attract the crowds like it once did. I don't think anyone on here believes it is cheap to put this show on, but skydivers are usually broke and/or cheap and will always look for a way to get it cheaper. Sucks for the vendors since this is such a low profit margin industry. I've paid the reg fee a bunch of times and will end up paying it again. I just feel if jumpers are a bit more vocal about what they don't like, we could avoid a repeat of the last year at Quincy (re:it wasn't fun). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Maybe people that don't camp onsite can get a lower reg fee? Or people that don't stay as long? (yes, I realize that won't happen) I must say, when I heard what some of the vendors paid for tent space, it amazed me to find out they still needed a reg fee. Like Kev said, if you stay the entire time it comes out to about $10 day for camping. It's kinda funny for me. I live four blocks from Midway Airport and hear jets all the time...the noise never bothers me, in fact I love it. (gotta love walking out the front door in the morning and smelling JetA!). I find this jet noise and how much they make the building shake to be very enjoyable! Anything else is just more useless "as the prop turns" and anything goes in that scenario. There are people that will let an incident like this fuel their biased hatred. Anyone else getting buzzed by these guys today as they practice for the weekend? I'm about a mile west of the lake and they and part of their return trip is right above my work. Actually, four of the planes approach then two break off just as they get near here. I don't think I will be able to concentrate today. I know someone that works for a "direct-marketing" company as well. They are responsible for pop-up and pop-under ads. I've had quite a few arguments with him over the last year, and he has the same attitude as the girl on the phone. Mulder will make her leap into politics seem sort of tame. Mulder, 59, will try skydiving in downstate Ottawa with members of the U.S. Army. "If former President Bush can do it for his 80th birthday, I suppose I can do it," Mulder said. "I feel very safe." She'll be one of several business leaders, politicians and celebrities participating in a series of jumps Saturday and Sunday at Skydive Chicago's facility in Ottawa. Bill Kelo, advertising and public affairs chief with the U.S. Army's Chicago recruiting battalion, said a team from the Army's Golden Knights will conduct the jumps. Other jumpers include Bill Rancic, Donald Trump's "Apprentice" from the reality show of the same name; NBC-TV reporter Phil Rogers and officials from several Chicago-area companies like Walgreen Co. and Leo Burnett. A member of the Golden Knights will be harnessed to each participant during the jump, Kelo said. Mulder said her jump will start at 13,000 feet and it will be a free fall until 4,000 feet when the chute will open. Another team of Golden Knights will participate in this weekend's Chicago Air and Water Show. Kelo said it is a fun way to "get the Army out in front of the public" and increase its exposure to local community and business leaders. Mulder said she has a special relationship with the military, particularly the U.S. Army. She's taken a ride in a KC 131, a U.S. Air Force refueling plane, and has visited various military recruitment centers. She's also active with the U.S. Army's reserve base in Arlington Heights. Mulder said officials have noticed a renewed interest in young people enlisting in the military out of high school. Because of that, Arlington Heights officials decided last year to honor two years of active duty in lieu of a two-year college degree for entry-level police officers.
