James - "Peeling" is not unethical. There is no hacking going on, they just have an easy name scheme for their web pages. Until WFFC posted that they charged $30 I never knew simply because I would just go to the site URL I knew by heart. Poor web design is not my fault. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Actually, if you know how to peel back the URL you can read the site for free. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

That doesn't work so well in the Midwest where we have strong winds. Or at a convention where the average jumper has about 200 jumps. They did announce landing direction on light wind days, but no one payed attention to it....or it was just hard to hear the PA. Even with a radio in the dz.com tent it was hard to hear it if anyone was talking....how could you hear it on the flight line with all of those planes? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... You feeling unloved today Jack?!

We had soap in the showers - but they were empty by Wed or Thurs. I think they meant there was no place to put your soap other than on the floor. We had prison style showers at Quincy as well, which is why the showers the last two years were nice...even with the line. I believe there is video of some high jump number individuals/LO's taking a looooooooong time chunking an 8 way out of the skyvan. I think I heard 30+ seconds in the door. The PAC had some issues with spots on the first day of the convention, but after that both Ray and Chris were right on, including the night jumps. Even from the tailgates I wasn't upset if I landed on the airbase, other people felt it was a bad spot if they had to land at the end of the runway. However, the worst spots seemed to be from the tailgates. I will tell you this - if you land in the golf course, there is a huge fence you have to climb over! I just had to swoop that putting green! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

I'm sorry, did you say something?? :p Jack, there are a few "users" for the pub that are there 24/7 and often some people lurk. I'm at work right now, but if you were in there I would have said hello. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... And here I thought HH was just kidding when he mentioned that. BTW - that guy is one hell of an instigator! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

aka drinking wine! I import wine at work not drink it. I haven't drank since I left Rantoul. I think I left my liver there. You didn't see it on your way out did you? That might be the thing Clay slipped on during his swoop on Sunday afternoon. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I also heard a few vendors complain about the reg fee and the tent fee this year. There was some serious grumbling going on. One told me it would have been worse for them if there was good weather and no one was shopping. I also heard a pilot or two complain about not coming back next year as well since the cost has gotten too much to handle. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... After reading this, I'm sure glad a certain leader of the free world rolled back provisions to allow companies to dump more pollutants into the air. Winters Could Disappear by 2080 - Report By Anna Mudeva AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (Reuters) - Europe is warming up more quickly than the rest of the world, and cold winters could disappear almost entirely by 2080 as a result of global warming, researchers predicted Wednesday. Heat waves and floods are likely to become more frequent, threatening the elderly and infirm, and three quarters of the Swiss Alps' glaciers might melt down by 2050, the study prepared by the European Environment Agency (EEA) said. "This report pulls together a wealth of evidence that climate change is already happening and having widespread impacts, many of them with substantial economic costs, on people and ecosystems in Europe," EEA executive director Jacqueline McGlade said in a statement. The average number of climate-related disasters per year doubled over the 1990s compared to the previous decade, costing economies around $11 billion a year, said the report, the first by the European Union (news - web sites) body on the impact of global warming on Europe. "Projections show that by 2080 cold winters could disappear almost entirely and hot summers, droughts and incidents of heavy rain or hail could become much more frequent," the report said. Climate changes are likely to increase the frequency of floods and droughts like those that hit Europe in the past years, damaging agriculture and making plant species extinct, the Copenhagen-based EEA concluded. The floods that swept through 11 European countries in 2001 killed about 80 people, while last year's heat wave in western and southern Europe claimed the lives of more than 20,000. GREENHOUSE GASES The EEA findings echo those published last week by U.S. climate researchers who predicted that heat waves might become more common as global warming heats the earth and said regions already prone to heat, such as the U.S. Midwest and Europe's Mediterranean area, could suffer even more. The concentration of carbon dioxide, one of the heat-trapping greenhouse gases blamed for global warming, in the lower atmosphere is now at its highest level for at least 420,000 years and stands 34 percent above its level before the Industrial Revolution, the EEA report said. According to the agency's study, temperatures in Europe have risen by an average of 1.7 degrees Fahrenheit over the past 100 years and are projected to climb by a further 3.6 to 11.3 degrees this century due to the rise in greenhouse gases emissions. This compared to a global rise in temperatures of 0.36 to 1.26 degrees in the past century and a forecast of another rise of 2.52 to 10.4 degrees this century, said the report. The researchers said glaciers in eight of Europe's nine glacial regions were at their lowest levels in terms of area and mass in 5,000 years. They forecast that sea levels in Europe would rise at a pace more than two-to-four times faster than the rise seen in the last century -- a threat to low-lying countries such as the Netherlands, where half the population lives below sea level. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... You could go out and dance alone by your car just like at Rantoul! BTW - you got some moves! You saw me dancing alone and you didn't do anything about it? Where's the love? You obviously don't remember my attempt to dance with you the night before! I have no moves! lol _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Don't forget about the piles of blood out there as well. I will have to see if the stain is still there next year. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Something has to be done about the local kids as well. They were getting in on a nightly basis and hanging around the main tents and beer cart. I saw almost none the last two years and saw a bunch this year. Now they have an entire year to tell their friends which means next year could be worse. It seemed to me that this was the least attended convention I have been to (this was my 6th). Like Phree said - a lot that this convention offers can be found at smaller and cheaper boogies year round. The WFFC was always THE event to go to because it had options you couldn't get elsewhere. You need something to draw the crowd back and then keep the tickets at a reasonable price. The combination of the typical planes, high gate fee and regaular jump ticket prices is enough to keep people away. I think the layout could be changed better - have a vendor row where all the vendors are at - my map was lost after the first night and it took me some time to find where some vendors were hiding. Have all the entertainment in one area like it was the first year at Rantoul. The C130 bar and the hangar bar were nice ideas, you could put Boogie Nights in that area. Keep tent city for tents! The placement of the beer kept people out of the main entertainment tent and on most nights there were only a handful of people checking out the bands. Having two choppers seemed to make it hard to get the Sirkorsky into the air. A centralized message board! This way people can place their "for sale" stuff in one place for everyone to look at instead of placing it on my car (I'm still scraping the paper off my windshield after it got wet from the rain). Also - this is a place where you could list the days events. I missed most of the GK demos, Skyhook demos, swoop contests, etc because I was out of earshot of the PA system. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... There was a DJ every night between the Mirage Tent and the PD tent. They even set the roof of the PD tent on fire the last night of the convention. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
