  1. Apparently Toyota has sold the technology to Chevy, but they are unable to replicate the success. Everything is twice the weight - battery pack, engine, generator, etc. It may be a while before we see them coming out with something as efficient at the THS II. Also, a car dealer friend said that Honda is coming out with an Accord hybrid soon. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 3. You have made this claim countless times. I read A LOT of the news and have many newsbots set up to send me stories. I have yet to see one thing that backs up your claims. Now, if you want to go to JoBob's blog I'm sure you can find "proof" that people know what Kerry is telling his staffers behind closed doors. If this was real, the Bush admin would be all over it and talking about it already. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. Yup, posted a story that mentioned it last week: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1300816;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 5. What were the grounds for the lawsuit? Link? Last I checked, the FEC has no say over what is shown to a paying public in a theatre. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  6. Agreed - it is as serious as a heart attack. There is no jump out there that should result in one, nor should anyone put themself in a position to have a fire by screwing around and forgetting that large, round, fast approaching, hard object below you. I would never argue that. Plus I would never argue that a DZ can't make/enforce any rules it seems fit to keep them in business. My biggest concern is that a known public rule like this will cause people to keep their AAD turned off. A rule with positive, life-saving intentions can have just the opposite effect...esp with a crowd as stubborn and independent as skydivers. Grounding those jumpers that Arlo mentioned was a wise course of action - gross negligence like that is dangerous, esp in a large crowd. But think about this - how many 3, 4 or 5-digit wonders turned off their AADs during fun/practice jumps to make sure their full year of training wasn't ruined by a Cypres fire? Stupid idea? Yup! But very possible. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  7. Interesting to see that only 9% of all voters so far have had an AAD fire, and some of those may have even been logged as an accidental FXC fire. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  8. Introduce gun control over there and they will eventually have all the same problems with zero tolerance, accidental shootings by children finding guns, thieves filling a lawsuit for getting shot in the back, etc.... I liked it when I was over there knowing that if anyone was to try to rob me, it would most likely be at knife point instead of gun point. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 9. Two words: Mob Mentality. Plenty of studies have been done on this. I've had a chance to witness some of the European at an Irish football game and wow...I thought that the Cubs/Sox Bears/Packer fans fought a lot!!!! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 10. Show me the links on where you gathered this info. With a few changes of names I could claim this about the RNC as well ....hell, they already have practice on how to steal an election. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 12. After how many months of bad weather thou? 2 , and that wasn't bad weather, that was horrific hurricanes. It is gorgeous now, tho:D Angela. And we have about 4 months of bad weather, and if you are brave you can jump about twice a month during those times. Plus I know plenty of jumpers in the north that get more jumps in a year than those in FL due to rain, wind, hurricanes, etc _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 15. Ok here - Kerry will win. My opinon. Happy? Now what the hell does that have to do with anything? Kev said it right - it's like saying "I am 100% sure based on all my statistical research that when I flip this coin it will be tails!" _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 20. Because lack of planning has brought us to the point where we may need a draft. Kids will have to die because of GWs fuckups. If they wanted to be in the military supporting his decisions, they would already be enlisted. We are spread so thin right now that if something big was to happen elsewhere, we wouldn't have the resources in troops to support a second major front. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 21. Are you saying a Bush promise is no good? Would it help if he said: READ MY LIPS - No Draft? 24. A big show of hands from all the people that are surprised by this report: Report Cites Corruption in Oil Nations LONDON - Most oil-producing nations are also rife with corruption, and oil companies should provide more information about their operations to help clean up the market, a global watchdog group said Wednesday in an annual report. Angola, Azerbaijan, Chad, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Libya, Nigeria, Russia, Sudan, Venezuela and Yemen scored very low in clean government practices, said Transparency International Chairman Peter Eigen in releasing the "Corruption Perceptions Index" for 2004. "In these countries, public contracting in the oil sector is plagued by revenues vanishing into the pockets of Western oil executives, middlemen and local officials," he said. Eigen said oil companies could help stamp out corruption by publishing details of the fees, royalties and other payments made to governments and state oil companies. Transparency International said 146 countries were surveyed for the report — not just oil-producers — and it found that corruption was rampant in 60 nations. The survey found that 106 scored lower than a 5, with a top score of 10 being the least corrupt. Bangladesh, Haiti, Nigeria, Chad, Myanmar, Azerbaijan and Paraguay were perceived to be the most corrupt, all scoring lower than 2. The United States ranks number 17, with a score of 7.5, tied with Belgium and Ireland, better than France but worse than Canada. The index is compiled from a series of polls on perceptions of corruption made by independent organizations. This year's report is based on 18 surveys conducted since 2002, by a dozen groups. The index rates only those countries which appear in three or more surveys. Finland, New Zealand, Denmark, Iceland, Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland were rated the least corrupt, all scoring higher than 9 out of 10 on the index. Compared to last year's report, corruption was perceived to be worse in Bahrain, Belize, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Oman, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, and Trinidad and Tobago. Improved scores were recorded for Austria, Botswana, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Gambia, Germany, Jordan, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, United Arab Emirates and Uruguay, Transparency International said. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
