Thanks everyone, for the explanations. I'm on static line so I've had line twists everytime. This last jump they were the worst I've ever had. Anyway I was taught to pull against the risers and kick in a bicycle motion and that has worked for me everytime so I'll stick with it. Thanks for explaining the right way/wrong way bit. When I kick the way I was taught there doesn't seem to be a wrong way to kick, so to speak, so it keeps it simple for me.

Oh absolutely, the bicycle kicking is what I've learned and has worked for me. But hearing people talk about a right and wrong way to kick confused me so just wanted to ask what that is about. ~skysprite

I've been reading some posts on line twists, and I keep hearing people say to be sure to kick in the right direction. I don't understand this. I was taught to kick my feet as if I were riding a bicycle, and don't see how there can be a right or wrong direction per se when doing this. Is there another way to kick out of line twists? ~skysprite

It's been a month since I jumped due to a shoulder injury and finances. Now it'll be a a week or so more because I just had my wisdom teeth pulled and got the drugs to go along with it. Oddly the drugs they have me on make me feel this strange flying sensation anyway. Weeeeeeeeee. Just call me the flying chipmunk. This is brought to you in part by the midnight hour, and by the fact that I just took my last bit of drugs for the evening. ~skysprite

5:1: 5 things signed off on my A license card. I'm on my way! 1 jump, bad landing. Ouch. Who's counting? Oh yeah, everybody. ~skysprite

Harvey was the first person to ever sign my logbook. The day I took my first jump course I was the only first jump static line student there and got to train for my first jump under Harvey one on one. Beyond the training, I truly appreciated the conversations we had while on break and the kind words and encouragement I got from Harvey. Everyone says he loved what he did and he loved teaching students, and I could certainly see that. I spoke to him again the second weekend when I made my second jump and was again met with a smile and encouragement. Harvey was serious and professional during ground school, but outside of that he was definitely quite the character. My first impression of Harvey was when I got to the dz and I was told my instructor wasn't there yet but to look for Santa Claus to come in the door because that's who he looked like. Funny enough when he came in he was wearing red and certainly looked the part. My thoughts and prayers go out to Harvey's family, sky family, and friends. My next jump is in honor of you Harvey, and I'll make many more thanks to you giving me my start during the first jump course. ~skysprite

It used to bug me, but now I don't mind it and I use it myself as well. What do you guys think of girlie? I've had a couple of friends say "Stay cool girlie" or the like. It didn't bother me because they were female and good friends. I'm not sure I would like it coming from anyone else though. I use it with my sister and close friends now too but not with anyone else cause I'm not sure how they'd take it, based on how I'd probably take it. ~skysprite
