  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-flQmtL_IQ&feature=related ...lol just had to share this......I can't stop laughing... Here is another link that is more related to your reply....It will explain why nobody can ever adhere to the 10 commandments....ultimately they were purposed to show us that we can't live by them 100%...even though most people think we should. Yes I know its confusing but you're gonna have to try harder if you wanna understand... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8ICj1MlMqQ&feature=related Not at all confusing. As a basketball coach, I've used that kind of analogy to describe giving good fouls. There are times when you do what the rules say you are not supposed to do; because in the long run it allows you to kick ass. A foul is an infraction; but if my players get thru a game with no fouls, they will hear it from me for not playing hard enough and for not pushing their abilities to the edge. Not exactly the same, but similar idea. It's one of those "Here's the rules; and here's how we actually play the game" kinda things. 2. I think 4 out of 5 wackos are still putting their money on 2012. The 5th wacko had to take time out to visit his dentist for the answer. 3. They are all essentially the same. All religions share common themes that have been borrowed, handed down, and modified from previous iterations of the same old stuff. Some of it is good, some of it is the same old oogie-boogie BS. Belief in supernatural entities is a great way to keep people in line. Christianity is just one modern version of the same old story. 4. Ever strike anybody how fatalistic most religions are? Crimony, we need a religion with a little humor and fun built in. Don't know about everybody else, but I think life is kinda cool, and fun. What a bunch of killjoys. 5. I slid in the first 4; almost afraid to try to stand up. JM gave me a little grief "C'mon, get yer feet under you and just stand up!" On #5 I did it and it worked. I thought (reaching across desk and hitting EASY button) "That was easy." Since that day I've had half a dozen biffs, moslty because of late adjustments caused by approach errors; all the rest have been stood up. 6. Shit, sounds like they could sit with the kids; for a lot less than a babysitter. Probably do a better job of keeping 'em in line too. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  7. And there you have the essence of modern organized religion. Cherry picking sheep. Ten Commandments, hmmm. I like to fuck the neighbor's wife, guess I'll go with 9. And I had to kill that God damned mother fucker who broke into the other neighbor's house and stole his TV. Maybe make it 8, I mean 7. Obama

That's not what I'm reading, though it could all be lies. According to multiple sources in the news, he has had very cool relations with most of the old guard that has been implicated. Heck, one story I saw claimed that the Lt. Gov hasn't even talked to the crooked governor in about 2 years. (And there is nobody refuting that claim). My old home state also, and it's always been a pretty rough and tumble place politics-wise. I've seen no evidence (and you can bet there would be people screaming it from the highest mountain) that the President Elect has been any part of it. 9. Hey Jumpwally, I think I recognize that beach. Is that in The Bahamas. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  10. Not meant as a personal attack. Apologies if it came off that way. All wackos are equal in my eyes. Wacko is as wacko does. If this decsribes a person's belief: "The belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree . . . yeah, makes perfect sense." . . . then it seems wackoness is a foregone conclusion. 11. Sure - and no doubt people will look back at todays scientists and laugh their bald heads off! That's pretty well covered, and supported by archaeological evidence. Worship of inanimate objects, worship of celestial objects, respect for elders (first as living beings, then as deceased beings), and so on. Pagan worship morphed into organized religion over long periods of time. No mystery about that. As far as laughing at scientists. Sure, some of them were pretty silly (healing by electrical shock); but many silly ideas only needed further observation and refinement by future generations to become very solid. (Democritus and his a-tom theory). The ether may also not have been as zany as once thought; what with current theories about Higgs field, virtual particles, massless particles, etc. C'mon, Einstein wasn't laughable. Well, maybe except for the hair. 12. I'm with you there. My budget and time dictate about 25 to 30 jumps per month. So if push came to shove and prices went to $100 a pop (which after adjustments for inflation I doubt would happen), I guess I'd be down to 5 jumps per month. Not sure what I'd do with the extra time. 13. You must have seen the Star Trek Zingers list. For example: Where to Trekkies go to work out? At the He's Dead Gym. space dive

Just a quick mention that the escape speed only needs to be that high if it is a single instantaneous acceleration from the surface, with no propulsion after the initial liftoff. Other complicating factors too, but an object can actually escape at any speed as long as it keeps moving. Heck, at 17K MPH you'd burn up on the way out just as certainly as you'd burn up on the way in (without the protection necessary for a successful high speed reentry). 17. A read thru the thread indicates at least the simple majority think they act and look, and also feel, younger than their age. Could be the influence of attributes relatively common to skydivers; but I think that it is a pretty universal thing. Perceptions change pretty universally with age. Not many teens are going to be fooled into thinking a 30-something person is their peer. Guaranteed, if you are 30-something, you look it and act it to a teen. A person may be 35 and feel young at heart, and you may be that; but to a teen you are an oldster. 18. From a Vogon Construction Ship? Huge doors, mega altitude; gonna need an O2 bottle though. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  19. A few HUNDRED times? How many hundreds do you recommend? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  20. We realized our's was deaf when we noticed he could be snuck up on. Kind of a unique thing to be able to do really. The vet confirmed it. 21. Agreed. Green Bay is for losers. If living vicariously thru the pro sports team of your choice is a dysfunction, then these people are the social cretins of all time. 22. Now admit it; Don't you fantasize about having your own minions? I could see Billy sitting there in a gray suit, wearing a monocle, stroking a white cat... How did you know? I am getting a white cat in the next couple of days. Colleague of my wife's at her office found a deaf cat, all white long hair with a blue eye and green eye. He can't keep it, so we're taking it in. This is going to be interesting.... Bet it is a male. We had a gray & white deaf male cat. Vet said it is most common in white males. 23. Everyone guesses low and I'm told I look younger than my age. Funny thing is I'm really lousy at guessing age by looks. People ask me to do it and I refuse. I just end up insulting too many of them. Health-wise, I am in extremely good shape for my age. Actually, other than the smoking thing (worst decision I ever made in my life) I am in extremely good condition regardless of age. Up until just a couple years ago (following my 2nd knee surgery), I was playing in a pretty competitive basketball league and still taking the 20 and 30-somethings to school. Up to a certain point, wisdom and experience trumps raw ability. Mentally, I'm out there with the rest of the introspective, intellectual, double-dipping, right & left brained, ambidextrous, Class X, non-comformist, authority questioning, thrill seeking, visual-spatial, been around the block and survived to tell about it, don't-pigeon-hole-me crowd. Yep, that about sums it up, at age 52. Texas

That happens everywhere there are trucks though. We get lots of it up in Wisconsin. It's as though half the people who drive trucks (maybe a lot more, but half is a REALLY safe guess) think traffic laws, parking restrictions, and rules of general courtesy when behind the wheel do not apply to them. I suspect a strong correlation with little-big-man syndrome because the confrontations I've had indicate them to often be squirrely, mousy, socially non-functional types when they are not behind the wheel of their truck. And how about the bumper stickers and window clings they often use. What kind of prepubescent goofball do you have to be to put a sticker on your vehicle of a kid peeing on the brand mark of a truck that is not the same as yours (and so obviously of a vastly inferior nature). Similar to bullies, these are little boys that never grew up. In fact, my guess is that the rude, immature, little man/big truck character is basically a failed bullie. You know, he wanted to knock people around and shit as his only possible means of influencing anything at all in his world; but found he couldn't even intimidate his girlfriends cat. So he goes out and buys the closest thing he can afford to Bigfoot. No he can intimidate people. No he's a man. It isn't just in Texas. 25. Translation: this is why nerds have trouble getting laid (until they start making serious money). Funny. I always tell kids they should learn to get along with, or at least learn to work with the nerds; because chances are they will have one for a boss, or at least have a few that will exert considerable influence over their career; if not their life in general. Never thought about the sex-life angle. Best leave it alone for now though.
