  1. I guess I missed the part of that video where the jenga blocks were set on fire. Fabulous. I was looking for a good idea for tonight's science experiment. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  2. You should consult with this one columnist from The Onion. I believe his column is Ask A Coffin Salesman. Very good advice on all topics. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  3. Not sure. Someday we may find out. Me: It's not you, it's him. Him: That's my line. If it's anybody it's me. I'm the king of 'It's me not you' . . . I mean him. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  4. Reminds me of this little gem I ran across recently: "Fifty is the age at which your father’s face regularly stares back at you from the bathroom mirror. The Grim Reaper, unexpected and uninvited, is suddenly your poker buddy." Not to be morbid, and I don't see 53 as being THAT old; but your perspective on life begins to change when you hit the age at which news of the deaths of old friends start to become pretty regular fare. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  5. Managed by different people, different staff, different stucture, different organization. If the owners are one and the same, and they engage in unethical activities in any of the ventures, then they are quite simply unethical people (the owners). Are you saying they are good people because they only rip off people in one of their businesses instead of both (or all) of them? A person either has integrity or they don't. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  6. Just did a CRW camp, so only 5 jumps into it, but here is my take. I found that by going out with hand on PC, My 3 second delay was EXACTLY 3 seconds. Not 3 1/4 seconds or 3 1/2 seconds because I maybe bumped it with the thumb. The 3 jumps with hand on pilot on exit I was perfectly on level; the first 2 without hand on pilot I was a bit low. 7. So when running SR they are unprincipled ripoff artists, but when running ASC they are responsible, ethical business owners? Not buying that. It's like saying a person is kinda pregnant. Either a person has principles or they don't. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  8. They are not competitors. If anything they are branches of a single organization; which is an even stronger relationship than say, . . . being partners. They are separate outlets of a company that uses a couple different formats to bring slightly different goods to the consumer. When Yumm publishes their quarterly statements, whether you spent your money at Pizza Rut or Taco Hell doesn't matter to the stockholders or the company's bottom line. 9. Maybe I misunderstood, but aren't they owned by the same people? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  10. Why the rush to bring him home? Inadequate medical car where he is? I understand the desire to be closer to home, but at $20K for the ride, unless the proper care isn't available (in which case travel to where care is available should be covered), why do that? It also occurs to me that if someone is in such a condition that it costs $20K to move them, maybe best not to move them. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  11. Yes he is. Every time I have watched him it’s like watching a religious sermon. His arguments are very passionate, and not based on any facts. I've never seen him or listened to him - at least not that I am aware of. But from what I've heard, he is an extremist. I ignore extremists of pretty much any flavor. Jesse is more of an odd duck. Having him for a governor was like having the state run by a cartoon character at times. A straight talker to be sure, but sometimes he would behave more like Yosemite Sam or GI JOE than a governor. He'd often waffle between good common sense and irritating ignorance; depending on the topic. His political acumen was low, not in itself a poor trait, but also not likely to accomplish much given the slippery eels that occupy most of the legislative seats in this country. 12. I noticed that too, and didn't expect it. I thought I remember all the jokes about how getting older required less sleep. (You know, they get up at 4AM, lunch at 10, supper no later than 4PM, then wild sex until midnight). I've slid into a routine of getting to sleep about 10, whereas it wasn't that long ago my average was more like 11 or midnight. (I get up now at about 5AM). 13. And handling. Lots of handling. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  14. Wrong evil organization. I believe it is held by CHAOS. I know this because Napolean Solo and Illya Kuriakin are on the case. Off to the Batcave. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  15. Another piece of misinformation that has become so often mentioned that even some of those in the know, or who should know better, are starting to believe it. The number of US citizens without insurance of some form, excluding those that can afford it and choose not to buy, is 10 to 12 million. Granted, that was before the current economic downturn, but the 40 to 45 million figure has been getting tossed around for at least a couple years and is BS. I did notice they have revised the wording lately to make it less of a lie. The statement used to always include "Americans." (About 25% of the larger figure is made up of illegal immigrants). " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  16. Where should I put Him? I need a location, an exact location. Unless this is just an idea and "there" is just a figure of speech. In which case, Jesus truly is all in your head. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  17. I would include in any definition of terorism the criteria that the action be taken against civilians. I think it should be no holds barred when armed forces are at each other. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  18. Bingo. I think most people, most organizations, and all governments practice situational ethics. Their ethics are shaped by their desires rather than their principles. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  19. I don't think fines are much of a deterent. Personally, I see speeding tickets as a form of tax for speeding. (Not the reckless maniac type of speeding, but the everybody getting down to business while getting to work type of speeding). I drive 75 miles round trip for my commute, and if I went the speed limit I'd be nothing but a road hazard. The limits on the interstate are from 55 to 65, and at least 80 percent of the trraffic is doing 70 to 85. So I keep it reasonable (about 15 over usually keeps me in the flow) and pay for my once per year $180 ticket without complaining. With the time saved, I'm buying time at about $5 per hour; a very good deal to be sure. The couple times when I got 2 tickets within 12 months, then I chilled out until one of them fell of the back end of the running 12 months. DWI to me is a different story. IMO and in general, the penalties are way too lenient, especially for repeat offenders and when there are injuries or loss of life. 20. Same here; a few places near our house where you can find them at certain times of day like clockwork. Scare them up in the woods on a pretty regular basis. My favorite is watching them land in the trees. They basically crash into the branches and hang on. Pheasants had been a bit sparse in the past but are coming back strong. Probably the biggest difference over the last couple years are in the eagles. They are beginning to become a routine site. No pigs though. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  21. Who would act as judge? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  22. You lost me at Bud Light. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  23. So anybody know what it is about patent law that made this acceptable? The article only alluded to this with no further explanation. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  24. Funniest man on the planet right now; with the best part being that it is all true. (Well, incredibly close for comedy). And I love your Martin icon. I had a plush Martin as the hood ornament on my riding lawn mower until one fateful day when his attachment point failed. (Should have had a backup lanyard). It happened so fast, one moment he was perky and bouncing along, lighting my way o'er hill and dale; the next he was just so much fluff strewn across the lawn. The remnants not further mutilated by our dogs were collected for a proper ceremony (closed casket of course) after which we scattered his stuffings in the stream, to float freely all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. A bunch got hung up on a log though, so it may take a while. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  25. That is just it though; they developed nothing, they are just reading the chromosone. IMO, all they've really done is describe something that is naturally occuring; and quite common at that. I could see if they developed a fix, a gene patch and the tools for implementation or something like that. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
