  1. You should do that while going through a hanger, in a wing suit. Just don't try to land it on your second jump. Wait till you atleast finish AFF. Just ignore this guy. Clearly he doesn't know your skillz.
  2. It sounds to me like Popsjumper is thinking about an AFF scenario where there is an instructor for each student. When doing an IAD class it is not practical to have 12 ground controllers for a class of twelve, or even 5 ground controllers for a planeload of 5.
  3. Scrumpot hits the nail on the head. The student must be told that no one will hold their hand after they get out of the plane; THEY must make the decision. Ian- you tell them you will not tell them to cut away but only to review their emergency procedures. Is it not possible (easily possible) that the student will then interpret a LACK of you telling them just that as a sign that their canopy is OK?
  4. I heard about Marvin a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't seen him in many years, but it was still a bit of a shock. Grimmie I had forgotten about Marvin's "Man's handshake," thanks for the reminder. Blue skies Marvin.
  5. Your attitude reminds me of a toothless redneck in a wife beater extolling the virtues of a Ford truck over a Chevy. Or vice versa.
  6. Thanks for that. I jump at a strong DZ and wish they would do something for the lateral adjusters on the instructor rig. Tired of jumping rigs built for fat guys.
  7. Thanks for the replies. We pack indoors and jump in a semi-arid environment.
  8. How many jumps are people getting on an Icarus Vectran line set?
  9. I am not about to predict the cup returning to Edmonton, but damn that game was fun last night. First over-all pick Taylor Hall was put on a line with 2008 first rounder Jordan Eberle in both of their first NHL games. The speed and finesse of Hall was on display all night but it was Eberle who potted his first and second goals. Watching those two break out was giving folks flashbacks of a couple of wizz kids in the eighties. The team still has a long way to go but it will be entertaining to watch. Watching Macintyre knock Ivanans out cold was pretty sweet too.
  10. His chief complaint seems to be that the lack of volunteers has driven wages up too high. If more people want to serve the brass won't have to treat them so dammed well. The truth is that the USA of 2010 cannot afford an armed forces that is as large and well equipped as it is today. I don't think that is going to change. Governments are going to have to chose between cuts to medicare (not going to happen), cuts to the military (inevitable) and tax hikes (also inevitable) in order to get control of the finances.
  11. Don't know. Don't understand where the lift would come from in that case either.
  12. One problem with helicopters is the relative wind is from above so even without the flip on exit the entanglement danger is higher during a premature deployment. I lost a friend like that.
  13. I still don't get what the problem with her being a witch is. It's no crazier than Christianity or any of the other religions.
  14. The persecution of the non-monotheists continues.
  15. Pacific Skydivers (Pitt Meadows) is a CSPA DZ that does not require CSPA from visiting jumpers provided they have membership in their home country. Vancouver Parachute Centre (Abbotsford) is a USPA DZ. I don't know what their policy is on visiting jumpers. Drop them an Email.
  16. What he said. My tandem pants are shredded just below the cordura knees. My next pair will have booties as well.
  17. Heh, heh, heh. No you don't. This is a private website, you have no more rights here than you do in Sangiro's living room.
  18. When people believe in invisible friends who know what other foolishness they will believe.
  19. Ok . . . So explain Michael Jackson, then! I can't, but then I don't believe in karma.
  20. Karma is the force that causes the things you do in life to affect your position in the universe in your next life not later in this one. A belief in karma means you are ok with millions of malnourished children in the world because they deserve it due to their behavior in their last life. It also means you are OK with Paris Hilton being stupidly rich for the same reason.
  21. lol, Even retards are allowed to run.
  22. The article was sometimes confusing when referring to the constitution when both California and US constitutional law and procedure were involved. What do people think the chances are that the SCOTUS ruling (assuming there is one) will be nation wide in effect?
