Does this mean that if you are going to use a jumpship without a door you will take off without a seatbelt?
-
Prices just went up again yesterday. $32CDN for 12 500. That's $2 more than I get paid to do a tandem. That didn't go up.

Which is why poodles are smart and miniature poodles are stupid like a flat tire. The scale just does not work.

I just finished reading the FAA report on the testing;my bad. This does not change the fact that TC is not interested in incomplete results. What does that mean? Did they or didn't they? If so wouldn't they also need an STC for each type of aircraft they were installed in?

Thoughts on license requirements
Andrewwhyte replied to jdfreefly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You do not. You also do not need a D licence. You can continue to do solos or take up CRW or Freeflying or (almost) whatever you want without ever getting your 'D'. -
I watched it last night myself. I enjoyed it but I wasn't bowled over by it. Did you see the Hornblower series on TV a few years ago? Much better in my opinion. Also Gregory peck starred as Captain Hornblower in 1959; absolutely brilliant.

He jumps, just not here much. Mainly in Eloy and Lodi.

Bring Redbull.

You see! That's where it starts! Next you'll be asking questions about that for regular guns! Are you some kinda Commie?

Post an interesting fact that you know...

Sponges are animals, can they jump? -
The performance in turns will be similar; the big difference is that the smaller canopy is going faster.

Lets get one thing straight. Seat belt installation and use are mandated in all aircraft by Canadian law (CARS). If the jumpship you are using does not have seatbelts installed it is because the Transport Canada inspector doesn't see the point and thus doesn't care. Have you checked under the cushions? You might be surprised. In Chilliwack the C-182 with the wingtip extensions has weight and balance allowance for six (five jumpers) but is not allowed to utilize this because they do not have an Special Type Certificate for the sixth seatbelt location. Like most government inspectors, TC inspectors tend to interpret the rules differently from region to region. As far as the use of seatbelts in Canada goes, I have heard from an Ottawa based official that the only acceptable use is around the waist as per the manufacturers instructions (and TSO or some such approval type). Wrapping the seatbelt through the harness is strictly forbidden as the harness has not been tested in this configuration. Use of seat belts in Canada is not very widespread for the simple reason that it has not been enforced by TC. I cannot remember there ever being a crash on takeoff in Canada since I started in 1985. I suppose if there were to be one (lets hope not any time soon) the issue would draw attention upon itself just as it did in the US after Perris. The effectiveness of seatbelts in a Cessna is, in my opinion of very questionable value. Many jumpers still persist in the mistaken idea that leaning forward somehow changes the centre of gravity and thus are in a position for takeoff that precludes their use. When contrasted with the danger of seatbelts snaging someone on their way out the door, I tend not to like them. I especially do not like kneeling on the fast points and have been injured, and seen my students injured many times by them.

I am not getting out at 1000', but I do have time to redo my seat belt from that altitude.

Does you DZ have internet access?
Andrewwhyte replied to skydivingdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's alot of corporate info on line. Most small businesses tend to be pretty leary of that. I know our DZO would not consider it. -
The particular capwell release you have described is not a 2 shot, but a 1-1/2 shot. A 2 shot doesn't have a release wire but has a thingy you squeeze between you're thumb and forefinger. Unlike the 1-1/2 shot these cannot be activated under load. Capwell is the name of a Corporation.

EXCUSE ME! Canadians are not stupid. Torontonians are stupid. Leaf fans who do not live in Toronto (Murrey) are even more stupid. Why would a westerner cheer for a group of losers that haven't won since it was a six team league. That's even longer than its been since the Eagles have won the Superbowl,... No wait, that's not right, the EAGLES HAVE NEVER WON THE SUPERBOWL. HAHAHAHAHA.....................................HA. Go Sharks, Go Cowboys.

Who Cares! I'm not watching until they actually kill someone off; then it would be exiting.

PAUL RAFFERTY UPDATE - please reserve for news
Andrewwhyte replied to kturner's topic in The Bonfire
About nine years ago we lost a friend in a plane crash. There was a fire. I was in Eloy at the time and heard about it from someone who read about it in the local tabloid. The press story said Dave was awake for the fire. Later I heard it was not true, It doesn't matter any more. For a long time I couldn't get a picture in my head of Dave without also picturing the fire. Eventually I was able and now when I remember him I just see the big toothy grin. Right now I cannot picture Raff without the fire, but I know I will. How Paul died will fade away, how he lived will not. For those of you unlucky enough to see Paul get hurt, remember the smile, remember the flash in his eyes that said he was having fun. It will come. -
I hear Skymonkey One is comming and bringing demo birdman suits. Cool.

Maharishi University in Iowa claims that their TM practitioners can replace a nights sleep with about ten minutes of good meditation. Of course this will require years of dedication to obtain this ability, but if you're not busy,... wait, why are you so tired again?

I'm wondering about this also, but I'll wait and see how the sign ends up to find out what this is all about. When I see the finished product, I'll post an explanation, if there is one... I'm thinking that the sign will be posted so the person reading it is facing south. That way the E, which is on his left, corresponds to east which is also on his left.

Private Pilot Flying Jump Plane?
Andrewwhyte replied to Iamthebest_391's topic in Safety and Training
I jumped at a club in Nelson NZ many years ago. We paid for our jumps by the minute. After the plane landed we found out how much the jump cost. On one jump we were held by ATC for an incoming Sched so we each had to pay two bucks more (if I recall correctly the plane kept climbing). I think this could work in the US as long as there were no students in the plane. If you have members of the "unsuspecting public" on board the FAA would and should rule that they have a right to presume a commercial pilot for what is clearly a commercial flight -
Instructors and Personal Assets, law suit question

Wasn't OJ Simpson's home exempt from that lawsuit? Why? Becauas it is a home? Is that just a California thing?
