  1. I have a suspision that there are more than just one inthis crowd.
  2. I am sure dexterbase wont like to see that little of a bail amount. He and is partner in crime got a huge ticket, + gear seizure, + probation. If this is true, the climbers got off light. And in all actuality, fairly. nic
  3. I voted 150-450 jumps with some big f1-11 jumps. I think I was more like at 650 jumps with around 70 big (190 - 240range) f1-11 jumps. Some were accuraccy, my first rig was actually f1-11. But I didnt want to put "lots of f1-11" because I would think lots would imply more than 10% of my jumps. Nic
  4. That totally makes sense, thanks for digging that up tom. Thank you Dwain, RIP. Nic
  5. As I am looking to purchase a new container I was strolling through all of the manufactures web sites I noticed most/ all of them offer dynamic corners as either an option or a standard feature on their two pin containers. My question is why haven't dynamic corners been made a standard on all rigs? I understand they can be a little harder to pack. However wouldnt the benefit of a cleaner depolyment in a headdown attitude (encouraging more on heading opening) help all jumpers (terminal, subterminal, acrombatic, ws, tracking, anything), when they slightly over rotate?
  6. You could always strap a bag of dog food to it
  7. Read the book, quite a story. I will try to bring it to my next exit point thats no so windy. Thank you for your book. Nic
  8. I saw it on the news at the gym for a hot second, then some bastard changed stations. I would have gone to change it back but I had an iPod / Eleptical machine entanglement and didnt have my hook knife. damn. I knew i should never leave home without it!
  9. Helicoptors should never be allowed in the park. If you want the jump in NPS land then I believe you should hike it. People are 'guests' there, however there is a huge wildlife population that lives there year round. The FAA has strict rules about flying in and above National parks and wilderness sanctuaries. I beleive the current rule to maintain at least 2000 ft. vertical clearance of the highest point. But I dont have my FAR's on me right now, so I could be wrong. You were probably joking about the helicoptors now that I think about it. oh well. -nic
  10. Its funny how all things come 'down' to the bottom line.

    The cat flip

You could also use an aircraft and a basic skydive as training grounds for any terminal aerials, the 'hill' is a great place to learn from a slower jump run aircraft. But maybe I am just stating the obvious. nic
  12. I wonder what the ACLU thinks of this.
  13. Probably not wheels. I assume maybe a large Ski and shock system. the ski would be shoulder width with a swallow tip. (A 'V' cut in the tail similar to first gen snowboards.) The Ski would also need to create lift, slowing the decent even more, and to counter act some of the drag. Of course ULTRA light composits. Now Go for someone else. Nic. If someone does use this I say now publicly I want a cut of any profits. PM me for specs. jk
  14. SICK! Looking through their slide show I am quite impressed with their flying. Hopefully we will be able to see video, in the 1st person and other cameras. nic
  15. 1 brother. He and his Fiance refer to me as 'crazy uncle Nic' to their child. Funny thing is that I dont think I am that crazy.

Planning a trip in the summer. Would like to make a jump. PM me.
  17. I am Flight Instructor, and I Bartend four days a week. I live in San Francisco, A flight job alone does not pay the bills. yet.
  18. I think it will be very hard for me to tell my parents. Well my dad already has an idea i think. My mom on the other hand made like 40 skydives in the mid/late 70's and would keep up with her jump friends. She Knows exactly what BASE is. She understands it and knows the outcome if things go bad. she has actually said to me in my 6 years of skydiving a number of times that "Nic, you can do whatever you want as long as you are safe except 1. Own and ride a street motorcycle 2. BASE jump and 3. Die before her." If I break any of these 'rules' she'll kill me. I know that doesnt make sense but thats what she said. I am trying to be blatantly obvious that I am BASE jumping without telling them. When I visit I leave a BASE rig on the living room floor, watching a BASE jumping movie, during an informal dinner. But Jaap is right. The thought of telling them has been just as hard as making a jump. I am trying to muster up more courage for my next visit, but we'll see If i walk down from that. i give it 80/20.
  19. Using the mounain bike (self propelled) and the monument thats on the deck atop the mountain I have exited a half second after leaving the 'jump' and tracked all the way down to the road, clearing 3 different ledges and trees along the way. It s like 16 seconds or so. This confirms it, yes I am a nerd.
  20. You can jump more buildings and other objects using a helicopter and landing on the object and jump. you do lose the heli, but whatever, steal another one.
  21. I have actually grabbed my risers prior to riser/linestretch with a FIRM Grip on them. The .25 second after that the riser on seemed to snap so hard It felt as if I dislocated my left soulder. I have had a bad rash of shoulder injuries, but it was so bad i was only making right hand turns to landing where i forced my self to flare to PLF. i did this on a skydive preparing for BASE.
  22. Thak You for the link. The video is amazing, and is absolutely inspiring. We'll miss you buddy!!! Fly Safe. -Nic
