hijacking a thread is easier than stealing a girl's heart. I dunno, I guess I was making a weak attempt to stay somewhat to the thread. I'm a guy. I can only be expected to make so much sense when talking to a beautiful girl. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Democrats bite their own noses to spite their faces

Well I don't exactly see him getting tossed from the party. Besides, that's not exactly a rare thing. Democrats from the south are regularly more conservative than republicans from the north east and California. Would you tell Philly he's not allowed to vote democrat anymore, either? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

you guys putting on a boogie anytime soon? (it take something kinda special to drive by a king air dz for one that's usually 182) OK, ignore all that. dz.com says beech and 182, TSC site says DC-3 and 182? So what's the deal up by music central? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Too slow. I just noticed that your avatar is you in the door. I thought it was you in shades. Cool pic. I may be visiting some relatives in Lansing in a few months. I got my B a few years back. I was planning on getting the old C, and was close too. It was the start of the last summer before they changed everything, and I had 97 jumps. Well, the date came around for chaning things and I still had 97 jumps. Getting engaged to a non jumper is not exactly conducive to jump numbers. Same for graduating and getting a real job. I don't have either anymore, the woman or the job, but I don't regret either one. I do wish I'd managed to get those three jumps though. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I'm with you man. I'm getting ready to get rid of my pathfinder, but I couldn't go to some beat up compact POS. I think last years Z-71 is calling my name... I never would have made it through grade school. I was in one fight protecting a kid who was smaller than me. I don't remember who or why, but I remember my dad being proud of me for it. I brought a plsatic tomahawk to school for a play. Cops 'n Robbers, Cowboys 'n Indians, every possible variation on playground war, yep, we played them. Lord knows I drew some imaginative things when I was bored. I think I'd have been lucky to make it through third grade the way some places have things are now. You know dodgeball is not allowed on some playgrounds now because it separates kids into who is "in" and who is "out." witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Democrats bite their own noses to spite their faces

Actually there are much better friends we have on the "liberal" side of the fence. Senator Zell Miller (D- GA), PhillyKev, and others who associate closely with the democratic party but still believe in the right to self defense. You are about as anti-gun as a person can be without calling for a full ban on all private ownership. OK, newsflash: THEY ARE ALREADY HEAVILY REGULATED. There's no need for gun owners to go through mandatory government training. Citizens manage to stop 2.5 million crimes without it. They get the training themselves. I don't think we need another bloated government bureaucracy playing with our freedom. You think a lot of guns are used in crimes? Prove it. Give me a number of how many guns were used in crimes. Find armed robberies involving a gun, homicides with a gun, suicides with a gun, all of them. Now compare that number to 260 million. That's how many guns are owned in this country. Then tell me again how "so many of them are used in crimes." You're still going to tell me you're not anti-gun?!? I can't even respond to these ideas they are so ludicrous. Another NEWSFLASH for newsstand: THERE ARE ALREADY LENGTH REQUIREMENT FOR RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS. And once you require every long gun be heavy and bulky, next you're going to tell me that heavy, bulky rifles are all sniper weapons with no place in public hands, so they all have to be banned. Are we all seeing how this works now? Actually this thread was about political maneuvering by some anti gun US senators. Care to offer some proof? Do you realize when the FBI uses the word "acquaintance" in the UCR, they are including a hooker and her pimp, an addict and his dealer, and cabbie and his fare. Do you qualify meeting someone in the street as a person you know? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Democrats bite their own noses to spite their faces

OK, maybe I'll get the explanation right this time. They can't "legally lie" when filling out their forms. It is against the law to lie on those forms. Hell, it's against the law for a felon to even try to buy a firearm. The "you can't require this ofa felon" comes into play when requiring current owners to register their firearms. You can't make a felon stand up and say he's breaking the law. However, when he goes into a gun store, he is actively breaking the law. There's no legal loophole that allows a felon to buy a new gun. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

First off, by "everywhere," I meant all jurisdictions, as in my Alabama 'license' [assuming I'm still stuck here when you rule the world to enact this ] would be good in California, NYC, etc. Second, you can't drive a car into a shopping mall or movie theater because they are not built to handle it. A car would cause destruction driving though a mall. A handgun can travel anywhere I can unobtrusively and not cause a bit of damage. Third, there are distinct spaces where CCW permits are not valid. Examples are schools, churches, bars, state government buildings. I don't agree with all those examples, but I understand some distinctions. The fact remains that a powerful set of politicians would be willing, and some of them happy, to take all firearms. Registration has led to confiscation in many places outside the US, and in NY and CA here at home. I'm not anxious to make it easy for them if they do try. What is left to do in gun control other than ban more firearms? What bad act isn't already against the law? Answered above. You forget, insurance in basically dependant on the government. This has a number of problems. (A) This is another opportunity for gun controllers to price gun owners out of existence. (B) The acts you listed are crimes. No insurance will cover you against committing a crime. I have no problem with companies offering insurance coverage for owners; many already do. But requiring it I have a major problem with. (C) There were what, about 43000 car accident deaths last year, right? There are less than 1000 accidental firearms deaths. There is about one gun out there for every person in the country right now. There is no reason to ask for required insurance. Don't fix what isn't broken. This is one instance where the bucket analogy comes in handy. More of them kill than firearms. Are you going to require insurance on buckets? If not, don't ask for it on firearms. I already deal with all the negatives of car ownership, I just don't get the benefits. Like I said, I wouldn't mind treating gun licenses like car licenses, but I'd never want to treat guns like cars. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

It's not you... Cool! You can be my munch buddy at the next boogie. It's impossible for me to find anyone to eat with at the DZ. You know how many of them just skip lunch?
