Yes. I read the document. It says the reporter was doing his job. You know, the one protected by the first amendment. There's a reason why we don't have any laws that criminalize printing classified information. The crime is sharing government secrets with unauthorized recipients. Wow, I thought you were hypocritical for not caring about the second amendment. It seems you are fairly consistent. You don't support the first either. I bet you're even wishy washy on the fourth. The guy giving up secrets is a criminal. The guy receiving them is not. That's called being a reporter. When you find yourself supporting an administration that bastions of left, right, and center disapprove of, in what appear to be pushing limits d constitutional power, do you ever wonder if blind party allegiance is affecting you reason? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

That's right boys and girls. The DOJ under Obama are now calling reporters enemies of the state for doing their job. Reporting the news gets you labelled as “an aider and abettor and/or co-conspirator,” to foreign governments. If he called public hearings, you'd say he was grand standing. Since he's looking for closed hearings, you say he's hidin something. I really thought you were more able to divorce your political leanings from the facts at hand. I guess I have you too much credit. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Really? Who looked at it? Did they publish? It's called the Congressional Record. You might want to take a gander at it. Oh, you mean the Pickering-Mullen report? The report that didn't talk to significant parties? The report that didn't have access to intelligence documents and White House or State Dept emails? The one that even CBS and CNN are questioning? Yeah, I'm going to look for complete answers, not just more Carney soundbytes. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Oh, yeah...I mean...other than 9/11, starting a totally bogus war and torturing people, opening up Guantanamo...Benghazi is worse...yeah. Are you ever capable of staying on topic and discussing something? Or do you have to bring up something else every dealing thread? Really? Who looked at it? Did they publish? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

The 9/11 Commission Report made it pretty clear that the rest of the government did everything it could to warn Bush of the impending attack, including a memo sent directly to Bush stating "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." and saying he would use aircraft and attack buildings Yeah, Clinton and Bush screwed the pooch. But you can't just blame the President. So says the 9/11 commission. Seems like you could say that about both attacks. But again, lying after the fact makes it worse. Especially when it looks like lying to avoid allowing information out to the people just before an election. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I'm not including Iraq. I meant the immediate response, actions, and statements directly related to 9/11 and Benghazi. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

There's no comparison between the actuall attacks. There are similarities left of bang, but they seem worse for Benghazi than 9-11. The important comparison is what happened right of bang. What was done and not done after the attacks. Stop acting like scrutinizing the response is the same as making the destruction wrought by the attacks equivalent. Did Bush lie about the response? I don't think so. It was so embarassing because people did know what happened and who did what. He wasn't right, but he didn't hide it. Obama on the other hand seems to be auditioning for Mr Magoo. "I didn't see anything. I didn't know anything." I guess he figures incompetence is better for the party than culpability. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Has it been scrutinized? I'd say you need all the statements and all the emails. I don't think anyone other than White House spokespeople are saying the Pickering-Mullen review board was sufficient. "No there, there"? Really? Maybe you believe there was only one stylistic change to the memo, too. If they did nothing wrong, why the hell do they keep lying? Also, if they believe in each decision that was made, why keep hiding who made it. Tell us where POTUS was, who he was with, and what they were doing. Be honest about changing the memo. Tell us who gave the "stand down" order to the military. If you support the decisions, say so. Say who made them. And support them. Lying about it just says you have something to hide. It says you don't believe the decisions were correct, or worse that you do but won't admit it because you know the public wont and you're trying to avoid te consequences. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Surely it would be a register of all checks, not all sales? And therefore of no use as a registration tool? That would be bad enough to give them two out of three, but no. They would want the seller, buyer, and gun information for each sale. Otherwise (they'll argue) how do we know you checked for each sale? How do we know you performed the required background check when selling this gun, and not some other? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
-
You make a good point but are missing another. If you require background checks for all person to person sales, there are only two ways to prove a check was performed: either the BATFE keeps a record of all sales (de facto registration) or you require every person to keep records like 4473 that every dealer keeps on file. Forever. And require that they have them available for ATF inspection. Depends on the state. At the federal level, as a private person selling to another, no, I don't think so. At federal level for FFLs, yes, that is an offense to get your license yanked and possibly criminally charged. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Really? You get ID checked when a jumper hands you a beer at the DZ? Do you get carded every single round you order, even if you haven't left the sight of the bartender? Would you be arrested and imprisoned for buying a drink for someone else, even if they are legally allowed to possess alcohol? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Do you understand the difference between Secret Service, US Army, and US Marines? Can you tell Russians from US Marines? When the answer is yes, come back and comment. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

See the post above yours. But I will point out that the Reagan picture is Secret Service, and both Bush pictures are US Army. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I'm sorry you can't tell the difference between a United States marine and his Soviet counterpart. I know you see a funny hat and jacket, sword, and red strip on the pants and think it must be USMC, but that's not the case. Those are Russians. The thumb down salute is a big clue if you don't know the uniform that well. The blurb in the article also mentions their country. Honestly if you look I wouldn't be surprised if you found pictures of other presidents in both parties doing this. I doubt only Obama would do it. I just thinks it's wrong for any president. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Really, you don't think they have a briefing for a new POTUS about protocol and procedure for dealing with Air Force, Secret Service, Marine security, and "football" carriers? You don't think after more than four years in office he should know a little bit about their roles? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Well, DUI is down significantly. And yet one can still purchase alcohol without a background check. Nope. If you don't qualify for alcohol (i.e. are underage, or look it) then you can't. And that's good enough. They don't need to register or record every case of booze. They don't require background checks on person to person transactions. So if you're good with alcohol law as is, why not be good with gun laws "as is"? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yes, it is, thanks to increased penalties and better enforcement. Isn't the what I've been saying? They didn't make things better by registering cars or alcohol. They went after the ones actually committing a crime. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

This is a stupid issue. I don't care if he doesn't hold his own umbrella. He's putting on his show. If he were playing to the common 'murikan voter, he'd hold his own, or just get rained on. Since he's trying to project strength and power using Turkish relations during a scandal, he uses a Marine. He just would have done better using secret service. Did you miss the part where US Marines are forbidden to hold umbrellas? Even your source shows aids and White House staff holding them, or the secret service, or foreign military (that's their problem). I'm more concerned about his lack of respect for and knowledge of USMC tradition and regulations. But that's nothing new, and not worth throwing a hissy fit. I'm much more concerned about Gun Walker, Benghazi, IRS enemy lists, trying for more gun control, and possibly overreaching dragnets into reporter communications, to name a few. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Bullshit, as shown by this very thread. You didn't bother to see if it was illegal to carry at a parade before bashing permit holders for failing to prevent a crime. Notably a crime that police presence failed to prevent. Actually most of what the gun lobby does is try to stop left wing nutjobs from eroding a valuable, constitutionally protected civil right. Honestly I wouldn't have a problem with gun registration anymore than I have a problem with car registration if there weren't so many fools out there trying to ban and confiscate every firearm in the country. Yeah? Have laws enacting "effective car control" reduced car crime? Or do you think effective law enforcement and prosecution of offenders does more about "car crime"? Have drug laws reduced drug crime? You really need to get over your fear of guns and gun owners and realize that education, community involvement, and prosecuting and incarcerating violent criminals is the best way to reduce/prevent violent crime. Did you notice that I'm more concerned about violence than guns? Which do you worry more about? Violence? Or guns? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Congratulations. You found about a dozen. Or do you want to count places where licenses aren't required against CHL holders? Huzzah, that's what, one for every three states with real CCW? Whoop-di-do. NYPD has more "mass shootings" on their record than CHL holders do. So coming back to it, what's your freaking point? Also, before you try to get all condescending on folks for not knowing about those shootings, and suggesting we "try a little harder", you might want to remember exactly how you started this thread. You know: bashing law abiding folks for failing to prevent a crime when (a) it was against he law to do so and (b) police were already there and couldn't prevent it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Debunked it how? No one, not you, not I, not a single person in this thread has pointed to one single mass shooting by a CHL holder. No one has made your point, and since you keep changing your story, I'm not even sure what your point is beyond the fact that you think "guns are bad, m'kay". What, now you're saying CCW should be stopped everywhere because some people with permits were arrested? Did you is the part where it is lower than any group you can think of? It's lower than law enforcement! If you think CCW should end, do you think we should abolish law enfocemr and put LEOs out of a job? They're not perfect either. No one is. If you think one bad apple should remove everyone's rights and priveledges, then get your butt on a plane to North Korea. Otherwise you need to accept the fact that liberty comes with some negative results every now and then, but the positive far outweighs the negative. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
