    WTF?

ok, synopsis: a woman is getting it from behind (and we're not talking doggy style here) the guy calls out: "Who's The BOSS?!?" he then donkey punches her and yells "TONY DANZA!!!" If you don't know what a donkey punch is, consider yourself lucky, and be on your way. If you do, we have support group meetings every third Tuesday. edit: curses, foiled again read it at your own risk. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  6. Unless they had a longer weapon, a clearer state on mind, more training, and managed the first strike. This whole conversation depends on how you define "knife fight." If that means 'any physcial altercation involving an edged weapon,' it is very possible to avoid being cut. Once you put conditions on it, escaping unscathed becomes less likely. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  7. That's a completely different issue. VPC and Brady have had their studies shown to be false and misleading (eg - using gun trace data and claiming it shows gun crime trends ...the BATFE issued press releases stating this was not true) (eg - claiming every officer injured by semi-automatic rifle was shot by an "assault weapon" ...showing just how useless that term really is) The NRA has had no such duplicity shown on their part. They are wrongly viewed as unreliable. VPC deserves every bad reputation they have, and more. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  8. I'd seen the High Road in the past, but couldn't for the life of me remember the name. It's bookmarked now. The Firing Line is a new one to me, but that's in the favorites folder as well. Thanks. Some of the early posts in the thread are quotes from various websites, noted as such. After that, it's all mine. I've seen http://www.a-human-right.com before, and I am simply awed at the quality and quantity of his work. My single favorite from his site is the attachment below, followed by two close seconds. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  10. As much as I realize those factsheets are good sources of information, I almost try to avoid them, especially references to them to people who aren't actively pro-gun. Just the mention of the NRA throws some people into conniption fits because they really don't know anything they haven't heard from Dan Rather or Jay Leno. Kinda sick, but it's what we have to deal with. They are well written, but are simply rejected due to their authors. Demented logic, but without matching sources, referencing them can damage an argument just as much as help it. clicky witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  12. Just an update - There are several bills in the House and Senate that seek to reauthorize the AWB, either keeping it the same for another ten years, making it permanent, or expanding it. We are probably not going to see it, as the House of Representatives is very unlikely to even bring the ban to the floor, let alone pass it. I haven't heard what happened to the bill Feinstein forced into the Senate floor calendar. A few of the bills are S. 2109, S. 2498, S. 1431, S. 1043, H.R. 2038, and H.R. 143, as well as a number of others. in the H.R. 3000 range witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  20. ***Assault weapons ban to expire soon unless voters push renewal The sight of Iraqis toting AK-47 assault rifles on the streets of Baghdad is common in the news, and a scary image. Thank goodness America's streets are safe from that kind of firepower, you might be thinking. But the 10-year-old federal ban on assault rifles in the United States is about to expire on Sept. 13. Congress has about 13 working days left to renew the assault weapons ban, otherwise the door will open once more for the manufacture and sale of AK-47s, Uzis, TEC-9s and other assault weapons in America. These are military style weapons that can fire bullets as fast as the shooter pulls the trigger. Great, let's go talking about every machine gun we can think of and say it'll be legal, then throw in some half wit mention that there are semi-autos, too. I have news for this ....writer.... The banned guns are no different than legal guns expect for a few accessories unrelated to firepower. Also, let's not forget that machine guns are and have been strictly controlled, and will not be affected when this law disappears. The only purpose for these powerful weapons is to kill people as fast as possible. And he makes this statement on what basis? Why are they different? Because of the bayonet lug? the collapsible stock? the pistol grip? the generally low power ammunition? That's not a pleasant vision for America. These guns have no place in a civil society. They belong only in war zones. He probably thinks handguns have no place but police holsters, too, and maybe shotguns have no place but in a safe or a rich man's hands. President Bush vowed to renew the ban when he was campaigning for the White House in 2000. But Bush hasn't lifted a finger to make it happen. Now that the time has come to act, he's playing political games as the pro-gun lobby smiles. And the anti gun lobby smiled when Clinton passed the ban the first time; what's his point? Bush says he'll sign a renewal of the ban if Congress passes it. But the speaker of the House reportedly is waiting for the president to ask the House to take action, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The Brady Campaign Against Gun Ownership? Yeah, there's a reliable source. Since the assault weapons ban was first enacted in 1994, the use of such guns in crimes has fallen 66 percent. Police groups across the nation have asked Congress to renew the ban, and polls show nearly 80 percent of Americans support its renewal, the Brady organization notes. Yesterday, former presidents Ford, Carter and Clinton together urged Bush to renew the ban. Wrong. The guns were used in less than 3% of gun crime before the ban, and are used in less than 3% of gun crime now. Going from nine crimes to three crimes is 66% less, but is that a significant chance at the national level? The National Institute of Justice (federal statistics and research for criminology and justice) said "There were several reasons to expect, at best, a modest ban effect on criminal gun injuries and deaths. First, studies before the ban generally found that between less than 1 and 8 percent of gun crimes involved assault weapons, depending on the specific definition and data source used," and "Given the limited use of the banned guns and magazines in gun crimes, even the maximum theoretically achievable preventive effect of the ban on outcomes such as the gun murder rate is almost certainly too small to detect statistically." I don't know where this guy got his facts, but I'm guess he didn't bother to leave the Brady website. If you don't want to see the floodgates opened to assault weapons, today is the time to tell the president and your representatives in Congress to make sure the ban is renewed. And if you do want to see pointless legislation disappear, make sure it sunsets on time. The politicians from the White House on down are hypnotized by the big money of the National Rifle Association which opposes the ban. But ordinary citizens possess something more valuable than money - your vote. In this presidential election year, every vote is likely to count, just as it did in 2000. Ohio will be one of the key states that tips the balance and decides who will be the next president. Maybe this guy hasn't noticed, but the NRA has something like 4.5 million members, mostly average income Americans. The anti-gun folks are the ones dependent on the likes of George Soros and Senator Kerry's wife. Your vote is your leverage and your ammunition in the battle to renew the federal ban on assault weapons. I wonder if that means he'll shut up about it when voters toss the representatives who voted for its renewal and elect pro gun candidates to congress. Don't let the president and Congress allow the ban to slip away without notice. He didn't when democrats lost twenty seats and control of congress. I doubt he will this time. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  23. OK kid, am I missing something? You're a UK resident, so I'm sure you know Scotland has many, many firths. So what's the deal? Is there a connection between the Firth of Forth and pulling a trigger? ps - I was there in January, it wasn't so bad. Windy, but not all that cold. Of course, the bales warmed me, as did laughing at this one Australian tourist. We were standing in Edinburgh Castle, looking North. Suddenly he bursts out with "I can see the Eiffel Tower!!" I look right, then notice that he, too, is looking north. A guide tried explaining to him that it was the firth, not the channel, and that was a radio tower, not The Tower. He left Scotland convinced you can see Paris from Edinburgh. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
