no just the opposite..the cops cannot or will not protect you so you better protect yourself is what the conclusion of this story is...no where in that story does it say anything about anyone with a CWP not helping or making it worse..so your attempt at using this story to promote your liberal agenda is sad at best... How about all those armed cops did nothing to protect the people...probably best if you actually read a story before spewing nonsense... We have a used car dealership and have access to the auctions. I can set my guy on looking for a suitable van. We can sell it for cost to them if that would help. Solid be able to save them 4-5k over market value. Our office line is 801-225-0077 ask for me John Olson if they would like my help. Thing is if we find and buy a van they need to be ready to move on it right away as I can't risk getting stuck with a van that doesn't meet our market. "seller" does not want to refund my money
catfishhunter replied to jkdrummerboyee's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How did you pay? Use a credit card or Paypal always. Then you are protected as a buyer. Both companies have great protection for buyers. As a business owner sometimes It is to excessive. I have money held up right now because a package has not made it to Russia yet and the buyer is freaking out so Paypal put my money on hold. Ill get it back as everything is shipped FOB and I have proof I not only shipped it but that it is still in transit and since it is FOB it is his responsibility. I know long diversion but the point is use all available protection. Using a rigger as escrow is great idea but even better buy from someone that posts here or knows people that post here or from someone you jump with on a regular basis. I have sold quite a few canopies and everyone has asked to use a rigger as escrow an I politely declined only because I am easily vetted. If they don't want to trust my word and the thousands of people that have and continue to purchase from me that's ok someone else will but if your buying from someone that can't provide that then walk away or use a form of payment that will allow you to get your money back if you do not receive the item or if it is no as described. Which is a valid reason to get your money back. Had that happen to but since I proved the item was new there was no way it could have been different then described. Buyers remorse is not a valid reason. Final verdict you got what you paid for, desecency says she should take it back but without a return policy she doesn't "have to" if you paid by credit/PayPal you can force her to take it back otherwise don't ever buy something skydiving related without checking the person and or gear with the folks on here as we'll as with your DZO/Insrcutors. You would have avoided all this by posting BEFORE buying it MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. Yes, but not usually. When it's time to pull, you gotta pull, no ifs ands or buts about it. What I mean is that stability is not that hard to achieve, your instructors won't put you out on your own until you're ready, and you're getting all worked up about it before you've even started jumping. The root of most fears is ignorance. Take the class, learn to skydive and see if the unknown worries you as much as it did before. Our sport is simple. -arch -watch your altitude -open the parachute -make a safe landing Don't worry so much. Yeah I'm not really worried just trying to get as much knowledge as I can before I go to ground school. It sure sounds like a simple sport! yep simple and because it is so simple we have to work really hard at finding new and fun ways to break ourselves. don't be that guy and you'll be fine. need advice on landing
catfishhunter replied to ChesterCheeto's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Use the oh shit method...whe you think you should flair say oh shit oh shit and on the third oh shit flair! :) now that won't work if the ground doesn't scare you...in that case get an instructor to work with you and go make some hop and pops so you and the instructor have the landing area to yourself...you will build the site picture really fast and if not get a bigger canopy or your going to really hate skydiving If you don't break yourself first. Had to put my cat down tonight :( A first for me and I hate it
catfishhunter replied to catfishhunter's topic in The Bonfire
Thank you and thanks to everyone that has replie. I just got up out of bed as this is the 5 night in a row I can't sleep :( I know we made the right choice. I paid the vet a lot just to tell me what I knew 3 weeks ago.. It don't make it any easier. I feel like I failed to keep her safe. I know there isn't anything I could do but I can't explain the feeling that maybe if I had paid more attention maybe we cold have caught it sooner and done seeming...then I think she's a cat would you have spent the money if thee was anything you could hav done? Then I feel more guilty for that...I mean wtf I'm a grown man all tore up over a cat..then I cry some more and accept I'm a big wussy that is really missing the one constant companion I've had through the beginning of my new life 11 years ago.... Thanks again for "listening" and sharing. Your stories...it really does help.. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. Thanks :) my wife actually shared that with me yesterday when I had to make the decision. Had to put my cat down tonight :( A first for me and I hate it
catfishhunter replied to catfishhunter's topic in The Bonfire
Had to put my cat down tonight. I got her when I first got clean from a girl in the same out patient group I was in. I really didn't want the cat but was after the kitty...she was going to send her to the pound and since she was at least 3 possibly 6 she most likely would have been put down. Me trying to be the hero offers to take her in while she got on her feet. Well it turned out Charlie Girl would be my constant companion for over 11 years while nothing ever came of the girl whom she came from. We took her to the vet 3 weeks ago because she wasn't cleaning herself. I knew it was bad but the vet said it might be an infection so we tried antibiotics. She just got worse and stopped eating 2 days ago. Turns out she had a tumor that had grown under her tongue and down her throat which had left her unable to open her mouth to eat or drink. :( me the wife and boy all went to the vet and said our good byes this evening. I had to take my son out and my wife stayed with her until the end.. I've had a lot of pets in my childhood and a lot of deaths but I've never had to put one down...this really sucks....I'm going to miss my friend and so is my wife and son. I can say while it really hurts it was a good experience for our family to be able to share this part of life with our son and let him experience the emotions and love and understanding of the circle of life. I am so proud of him and how he has handled his emotions both of sorrow and of happiness in knowing she is no longer hurting and we were lucky to have her for so long. Ok im done just needed to put some things down in writing...I never thought I would ever be crying over a cat BSBD Charlie Oh and yes there will be an Ash dive... most active DZ in the US?
catfishhunter replied to john_mc_evoy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depends on the time of the year. Fall/Winter/Spring Eloy or Perris/Elsinore.Summer time you can pretty much take your pick of any large DZ except Eloy as they hut down early as jumping in 120 degree temps suck big time. If they don't post on dz.com they had better be able to give you a reference that someone on here knows. We are not a huge group of folks. If you jump there is someone on on dz.com that either knows you of knows someone that knows you. Also I do not accept checks cash, wire transfer, credit card with adult signature required and insured shipping and only shipped to the credit card billing address. Follow those rules and your not getting scammed. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. My boy got to learn appreciation for how good he has it..
catfishhunter replied to catfishhunter's topic in The Bonfire
yep :) I told him (Levi) he could fly but I think it still surprised him. Kade kept trying to flying around but the balloon suit and the air bubble was a little daunting for him the first couple of flights. The price was ridiculously high as well. $100 for 2 3 minute flights. Since he was with me I spent my gambling budget on him so it was worth it :) MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. Thanks Muffie. I am very aware of the need for the surgery. Herniated disc with born spurs because of oestoarthritis. This has been a on going issue for 12 plus years (oestoarthritis). The last year has gotten to the point that I have needed to start taking pain meds to deal with it and being in recovery taking meds is not something I wish to do at all let alone long term. Luckily downers/pain meds where never my thing so it is easy for me to take a 1/4 of a percocet 1-2 days a day and not need/want to take more but I'm not naive enough to think that can last forever. I really apppreciate all the shared experiances. Thank You. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. Thanks Spot. The doctor I've talkd to Dr. Gaufin he has some impressive references but I'm all for getting more opinions. It is my neck and everything I have read the first time is the best time to get it right. If they have to go back in it usually isn't good. The scary part isn't so much the herniated disc but the osteoarthritis and the bone spurs pinching the nerves. There is only so much they can do. I truly appreciate the feedback. It has been a soberinng and trying 12 months. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. Im having c5 and 6 and 6 and 7 fused. Anyone here have this surgery? My doctor told me to quit jumping and I told him that wasn't an option. I aksed him why he said that and he said"because it is dangerous" I asked him what about the surgery made it more dangerous then it already was. He said "nothing it's just dangerous" I spent a lot of time talking to him and won't go into everything but he said when a football player has this surgery they tell them to wait at least a year before going back. Im good with that time line but the whole thing has me more then a little nervous as it isnt a "minor" surgery. To help with that i'm trying to focus and plan on the positive side of things one of which will be when I can get back to jumping. I would like to hear from anyone that has had neck surgery of this type and their experiances both good and bad with the surgery and recovery time and any limitations/improvements.. Thanks.
